I am interested to see what the gem base items look like in-game. Has anyone bought them?

To bad the devs didn't make a cute Christmas tree....

phatzs
12-10-15, 04:29 PM
Well I guess I won't be doing the Santa goals as to not having enough gems. How do they expect new players to do the goals when the items that are required to be purchased cost so much. I refuse to spend actual money on something I will never ever be able to use in real life.

Otherthan the post we need to purchase, I only bought the snowflake tile for coins!

Looks like a fun challenge for Christmas, I mean I was personally hoping for a new appliance or a cruise event as well. But I suppose that we can't have all three. Of course I love just doing these challenges in general and they have gotten soooooo much better since the St. Patty's day one last year. I also love that they are making the recipes that we get worth it too. Of course we don't know about this one yet but the That's No Moon Cake was definitely worth my time and energy. Doing good work Storm8!

Why are the fireplaces differently priced? 50more gems for Christmas versus Hanakkuh. Is this a mistake or intended? Figured I would ask since there is SO much gem related decorations and could have totally happened.

Also, can we get an update on the first post with all the new quest steps?

Ah, I just realized I won't be able to complete this as I am a lowly level 30 (or maybe even 29).

Please can anyone offer tips regarding the new holiday game version? I started with Halloween but due to an error was unable to earn my gems for completing the turkey cruise. I think maybe I should have dl the original sooner. How do you guys avoid things like that? Should I open both version/alternate which I play? Or should I stick to the holiday until the cruise starts and finishes then go back to the other right away? Thanks

To complete either quest in 11 days, this event is definitely not friendly towards players with low (store) stocking capacity and are actively working/studying/living :( A few of the ingredients just take HOURS to restock, and the mastery levels for the Fruitcake and Baked Ham are just too high right off the bat; Unless of course, we're already well stocked with plenty of Mastery Spices so we can focus on using sugar to create Holiday Cheers.

I already know I wont be able to complete them in time, but I'm just going to try and have fun with it anyway.

For this time of year this one might not be able to finish, one part I wouldn't be finishing since I don't have the fruit stand yet, getting closer but not in time for this quest. I won't be getting the reindeer or workbench neither so since wasting the gems I might consider to get if they had a tree.

Apples are a regular item for sale in the fruit stand, not a holiday item. If you don't see them, you're probably not a high enough level for them.

So do you mean I should not play the Holiday version at all? My apps automatically update, so I assume my regular version is up to date, though looking at my update list, it doesn't look like it has updated recently...

Agree. I love these type of updates except for the sitting on your phone forever waiting for water glasses :/
I also agree that I love that people posts steps and start threads and do appreciate it but I think if u are going to start the thread u need to keep up with the posts on the first page for easy access not everyone has the time to tap all those water glasses and read pages and pages of threads to find the info. Lol. Just my opinion of course :)

Is anyone having a hard time with these quests? Or is it just me?
There so heavy on sugar and my market isn't helping me a lot either
I can't even make mastery spice because I need every sugar I get to make holiday cheer :/
It doesn't help that once you get a star your not rewarded with mastery spice like before, and the count is too high to reach 3 stars for each recipe.
I don't think I'll be able to finish both quests in 11 days, I can't leave the phone from my side =__=

Yep! Not particularly having hard times, but it does take a lot of time to collect snowflakes and each recipe (except ham) requires 1 or 2 Holiday Cheer! So it really time consuming. My general store is 6 so I can make 2 cheers per 2 hours and also I'm making Mastery Soices like crazy, because each recipe requires quite a bit mastery stars! At least the rewards are great : D

Definitely. The drop rate for snowflakes is very low! And everything requires 1-2 Holiday Cheer. So I will just get to wherever I can. Not enough time to collect all those snowflakes. We need a snowstorm!

Cruise should start on 22 of December approximately and you can postpone it for a few days! So you could start after Christmas and first 5 days or so usually pretty easy to complete so I don't think it's that bad:>

And so I say goodbye to the social life I never had in the first place.

Hahaha. I tried having my daughter collect snowflakes for a few minutes for me. She got about 16. What I don't like is how the mastery spice is used either. For instance, a recipe is at level one and needs one star to get to level two. I'd used my spice and instead of being at level 2 with one star it is just at level two. If anyone understands what I'm saying.

So it's wasted my spices. But I agree with what's written by someone else above...the requirements needed are way too high. Snowflakes are hard to come by and these recipes are asking for two holiday cheers. On top of that, wanting recipes to go along with it that needs the same ingredients or ovens.

So I'm not focusing on the fireplace one, although I'm at level four. I'm on level five for the snowflake cookies and will finish those, as best I can. I just hope the quantities aren't super low. Not making these goals worth the effort at all.

We need a double drop day!

Mine grown often but I never get any vanilla anymore since this new quest. I think you might have to be at least level 58-59 to get vanilla as I didn't get any until I was that level. Maybe you're just having bad luck. S8 are clueless when it comes to balance in this game. One player gets 5 cloves a day while another gets none.

I think I'm doing good so far, I've finished cookies and carols in 3 days
Baked ham is at 2 stars and now I can focus all sugars on fruitcake :)
The market keeps giving me lots of apples but rarely sugar and potatoes..
Honestly I don't think I'm ready for a Cruze event just yet, the only thing that I wish to change is that they reduce the waiting time to get a new order from 30 to at least 15 minutes 10 would even be better, I waste so much time refreshing just to get a 3 or 4 coins dish while doing the 2 and 1 coins that don't cost me too much ingredients, for example the hamburger is worth only 1 coin but only fill 40 of the 100 I need to deliver
So I need to cook 3 hamburgers worth 3 meat and need 2 hours to restock, no thank you I'm skipping 😒
I hate whenever I get the hamburger order 😆

Dear storm 8 can you drop more than just 1-2 snowflakes at a time please? I'm lucky to get 5 in 20 minutes.

Malabie
12-14-15, 06:55 AM
I gather the 10 snowflakes in about 10-15 minutes, with some variation. But to do this, I have to keep staring at the customers for at least 10 minutes straight, and it's kind of really boring... not to mention it eats up a lot of my phone's battery if I'm not using wifi at home.

Also, I used up all my vanilla sticks and Mastery Spices on the Snack Wars quests, and the mastery goals for the seasonal dishes are the highest I've ever seen for an event. Vanilla has inexplicably made itself scarce in the garden as well. So for the most part there's no skipping it, I have to cook a ton of Holiday Cheers for the Fruitcake and wait forever for the potatoes for the ham recipe... and I gotta say this makes the whole experience a bit more stressful than what I would expect out of a casual game. :(

I got vanilla long before the new levels came. I was already level 54/55 when it premiered so it should be around level 50 or something. Maybe even beforehand.

I can collect five potatoes at a time, which I thought would be more helpful than the chore of making holiday cheer, but it isnt. Maybe one dish, every four or so hours isnt helping me finish this anytime sooner. And I only got 2 vanillas yesterday. I should be done with this in maybe 2 to 3 days. Which leaves me no time whatsoever to finish the one for the fireplace.

I dont mind however, because right now I have a winter theme going and the fireplace cant fit anywhere anyways.

They know what theyre doing. Which is why some items are for sale. Per usual. Id have this game open for maybe 30 minutes at a time and would be lucky if 3 customers come by asking for water. So no one can tell me they didnt change the visits timing.

Someone in the thread suggested to visit friends and then come back to your restaraunt, of force close the game and then reopen it. For me collecting snowflakes takes time, but I get 20 snowflakes in ~15 min so it's not that bad considering you get 1 snowflake per 10min...

I actually meant to say cloves. Someone was asking why they wasn't getting any and that's why I thought you had to be high level, but as I was complaining about not getting any vanilla since the quest started I wrote that instead of cloves. Doh!
But yeah, these xmas quests have been pretty brutal with the excessive amount of sugar and potatoes and the lack of vanilla and cloves for some players.

I finished both "cookies and carols" and "a tale of two presents" without using any gems. The cookies and carols goal was very easy, but a tale of two presents took me until today to finish. I'm only few baked hams away from finishing. I didn't use any gems. However, I did use a lot of mastery spices. Before event I had around 19th and then during the event I was constantly making more and more, so every recipe that required holiday cheer I spiced up with mastery spice so it took me much less time. I didn't spice up baked ham because it didn't require holiday cheer and it was easier to make for me. My veggie and general stores at 6, and fruit store at 4. I also was checking street market a lot in order to get apples/potatoes. It took me a while to finish these goals, but I wasn't constantly checking game every few hours or so to get sugar and make holiday cheer. So it is possible to not use gems, but you need to have pretty big stores and a lot of vanilla!:<

I feel like a broken record, but I'll say it again, there is a difference between making a task challenging and making a task frustrating enough to just throw in the towel. It seems like every time these tasks require a player to practically live on the game. I gave up on the cookies one because I prefer to get new recipes but when I saw the requirement for the mastery of 19 fruit cakes and 24 hams after I completed level 2 on the hams I just wish I had never bothered.

I got Mastery Spice when I got 2 stars. That's how I managed this quest, I had quite a few dishes bordering on 2 star mastery and made a lot of those dishes and got the spices to use on the Fruitcake, Snickerdoodle Santas and Baked ham.

I just mastered tuna roll from 0 to 1 and got a mastery spice, it was also 0 to 1 for the hamburger. I'm guessing it's just recipe dependent so ppl don't master just to get spices?

I think 1 to 2 usually gets you the same reward as 0 to 1, but you only get a plaque when you master up to three stars.

I think I'm very narrowly going to miss the prize. :( 24 cooks to master the ham is definitely too much! Especially since it uses up 4 potatoes. If the recipe had asked for 3 potatoes instead (which is still a lot btw), it would've made the whole thing much less stressful. Not sure I'll be up for the cruise after this, I'm kind of getting tired.

Opened game, collected food, started cooking, even paid gems for a few extra ingredients, restaurant full no water, waited a while and got 2 waters then Waited over 7 minutes, no water. Visited neighbor, came back and waited and stil no water. Watched a free gift video then waited no water. Cooked a few recipes and finally 1 water. Waited another long stretch of endless staring and no more water. Will not finish this goal due to a lack of water for the snowflakes to finish fruitcake. Sad when not finishing a goal has nothing to do with the players ability or time commitment but the lack of drops. Still really pissed that some have hands and thousands of drops while others barely got a trickle.

It's really bad when you have two little ones sitting staring at the game for you for long stretches of time trying to gather water for mommy and the oldest says, "mommy, the people aren't thirsty and only a couple wanted any water to drink. Sorry we tried"

Yeah I'll admit this is probably one of the most time consuming quests I have done in this game. I did complete it last night and I am glad I did because the Snowball Cookies are dirt cheap and makes the Diner Stove not so bad. But in order to complete this quest I had to spend countless hours collecting those dumb snowflakes which was the worst part of this quest. Also I had to upgrade my general store and my veggie market in order to complete this challenge. Definitely a lot put into it and I wish it was a little bit easier to complete for everyone. I do like how they are making quests that are more difficult so that the recipes that you get in the end are worth it and a little overpowered for the appliance. But still even if they just made it so customers asked for water more of the time and they dropped 2-3 snowflakes every time then this quest would be a lot easier. But it is almost over now so all we can hope for is that in the future events like this it is less painful to wait for customers asking for water.

Really hard event this time. The last mastery levels were almost impossible with the amount of snowflakes it asks for to make the holiday ingredients. I didn't finish either quest. Upset :(

I have no life and play this game constantly, and even I won't be able to finish this quest. 24 baked hams to 3 star mastery? I've got 20 hours to go and 10 more to make. Even if I used mastery spice on all of them I'd still need to do five, and with potatoes only popping up every four hours it's just not going to happen. I do have to sleep sometime.

Did anyone actually finish? If so, did you use gems at all?

I thought that I will not be able to finish, but I actually did it! It did require about 25 mastery spices (I had luck with the vanilla) but I did not use gems. Looking forward to the cruise now, hope I will succeed this time, I have never done it before :(

I did, like 5 days ago. I did not use gem and quickserves at all, but of course im already at level 55 that time. used up my mastery spice on dishes that require 2 Christmas cheers / that dish that required potato. my potato provides 4 after the refresh timer.

This quest required a lot of staring on the game for a long time ::/

I finished and may have used a couple gems, but really it was the mastery spice that saved me. I still had a lot of recipes that I had not earned mastery level 1 on so I got several mastery spices that way and I focused on getting the recipe first. Potatoes were definitely my biggest constraint.

I haven't spent any gems as well, but used lots of mastery spices. My strategy is to plant as much plants as possible, constantly collecting basil and garlic in order to get vanilla during the cruise event. In 10 days I usually able to make at least 10 mastery spices, sometimes even more. So when the quest event comes around I am able to use it if I need to. For example, during Snack Wars quest I didn't use any mastery spices, because the requirements to master things wasn't that bad. So by the Christmas quest event I had around 20 mastery spices and got some more from mastering recipes and from collecting vanilla. I didn't use spice on baked ham recipe because it didn't require any holiday cheer and I had like 7 days left, so during that time I collected vanillas as well:> As for now I already have 15 mastery spices saved up for upcoming events. That being said, I don't really use vanilla for recipes, unless I have lots of mastery spice and don't want more (if I have limited pantry space) :3

I caved in and paid 50 gems to finish the last part of the quest, mastering the ham. I'm level 47, my veggie store is upgraded to 4 and I did spend a lot of time on this quest. I'd feel pretty bad if I walked away with nothing. :( I spent all my mastery spices on the Snack Wars quest and on mastering the fruitcake, and had very bad luck with vanilla in the garden. I'm gonna take a break from the game now, it's the holiday season and I want to spend my time doing something that actually feels fun. Not sure if I'm up for the cruise, all this nonstop grinding is getting on my nerves.

Does anyone know if we get to keep the snowball cakes or if they disappear when the event finishes

The snowball cookies have no timer on them, so they're permanent!

I am among those who had trouble getting snowflakes. I have spent hours and hours and hours and get hardly any. I have had the same problem with vanilla. I plant at least every hour, sometimes every 30 minutes and I have 8 plots, but still not a single vanilla for 7 full days!! Only in the last couple of days I have gotten a few, but it's too late now, I am not close enough to be able to finish even with the help of a few mastery spice. Requiring 10 snowflakes at for each holiday cheer when they are not dropping very often is ridiculous, and on top of that, multiple recipes requiring TWO cheers each! That is a long time invested just to cook it one time, and then they raised the number of times you have to cook each recipe to master it well beyond what the normal numbers are! It's too much, has been very upsetting and definitely not fun like an event should be. I had no trouble with sugar because of how long it would take to get the snowflakes!

I feel like I climbed Mt Everest. And then climbed back down.

I'm glad I have the recipe and the fireplace but after that intense grind I actually feel like I got nothing.

And here I decided to do the task because I didnt have the gems to do the other goal to get the santa. I thought, "Well, I'll
At least get a new recipe and the holiday fireplace for xmas decorating." But that goal was too much.
Sometimes I'd rather just buy the stuff than do these goals. They aren't very fun.
