Update question need advice

I have finished all the turkey animals but I am just going to start the dinner event to day my question is if I upgrade now will it mess my dinner event up and if I don't update will I miss out on some stuff like the Black Friday sale for one

I think you are more likely to miss out on something if you don't upgrade. Upgrading didn't affect my dinner event.

You're quite safe to update! :) you could always wait until Thursday and see if you get the sale and if not, then update your device. It is always better to have the most up to date version of a game though.

You won't get the Food Shelter goal though if you don't update the app.
