IIMy results, I tend to experiment a lot with colors and the other types where it's feasible before automatically grabbing for a champion as I find it more rewarding and fun to solve the puzzle as they say although I can certainly have mishaps!

14. Royal 9 < Sunburst 8 bMb In the past if I didn't have a dragon that was a higher level I automatically reached for a champion. Examples such as this prove that the right color and rarity can be more powerful even if the level isn't there. White and Gemstone in a super rare unbreedable both combined to knock out the Royal.
15. Tanuki 12 < Gilded Knight 15 Bm tried and lost with Twilight Pink purple 10 which should have been fine but the odds fails so pulled out my big ***.
16. Caesar 9 < Warrior Princess 10 B The Princess is quickly becoming my champ of choice sometimes stronger than the level 15 Knight. will be raising her to 15 even tho I would dearly love to do Immortal he is just too darned hungry.
17. Watermelon 9 < Hook 10 B Again colour and type wins out even tho the rarity was sub-par. Fairytale, black and red are all strong here with no color weaknesses. Really glad I invested into that wheel last week!
18. Secret 9 < Bride of Franken bmM Thought I made a mistake even though the colors said yes, but the magic seemed stronger than the bash so I prayed and the magic came thru ��
19. Capricorn 12 < Fire 13 B People keep saying Fire is a beast so I decided to try it instead of my usual first choice Helios and was astounded at the one bash KO
20. Barbarian 14 < Diamond 15 bmM He was a tad testy!
21. Healer 12 < Jester 8 mB I guess the funny bone got it! seriously tho green and purple both weak to royal so I decided to choose this instead of the obvious Landworm.
22. Father 14 < Gilded Knight 15 B The all rounder did the big daddy in very fast lol. Seems my Champs either **** quick or they get ****ed!
23. Sugar Plum 16 < Jade 9 M Amazed that the right color combo ****ed this dragon so easily since last tournament I resorted to ultimate! With the primary color pink being weak to both black and gemstone, and purple being weak to green, I didn't feel that purple being strong against gemstone would be too much of a problem. The other disadvantage was the rarity, but most gemstones are only rare unless won somehow. So I felt it was a shot well worth taking and it turned out to be a magic shot!
24. Sorcerer 17 < Noveau 10 Bb Rainbow strong against both black and blue and green strong against black, blue was not a weak color so with Noveau being an Ultra Rare felt a better choice than the alternative Lollipop or Champion even tho my champ may have scored a few more critical points for level I decided to bet on the rarity.
25. Bladewing 19 < Mercury 10 B Got lucky here, Diamond 15 lost so I looked at his armour color Red yellow and wanted to stick with a diamond type Mbut felt I should try adding some color. I didn't feel red would help much and I don't have gold, so since water is strong against fire I decided to try Mercury. Proved to be a good guess!
26. Paradise 18 < Maple 13 bM tried lightning first but didn't seem to have enough power, so then pulled out Gilded Knight 15 who apparently wanted a spa session. maple was happy to clean up.
27. Musketeer 18 < Gilded Knight 15 bM After his rest in the spa, Sir Lancselelot was apparently ready to slash and dice taking down the Muskateer first go round. Onwards to the finals!
28. Red Queen 20 < USA 8 Mb I had a hunch that the dragon from the wheel last week would be needed so made fast work of getting it leveled. Sure enough, the soccer red white blue combined to punt her out if the realm first round. I think the dtpragin wanted overtime!
29. Forbidden 20 < Diamond 15 Bb Diamond comes thru again, I didn't have gold (it was cooking), so this seemed best second choice. Would have tried Chrome or possibly straight metal or air if it failed. Gold ready next time I face one of these lovely beasts ��
30. Dueler 20 < Diamond 15 B I had settled in for a long day of battle judging by others fights, but I get my crash and burn last night gave the "cleaner" a well deserved rest. two hits in a row. Who could ask for more of their lovely diamond!

I'm going to follow the lead of those before me and add to this post as we go. I'm also going to include why I picked particular dragons, it may help the newbies following along. Here the rounds after the one completed are the colour combination choices I am planning to use against the opponent, subject to change based on dragon availability!

2 Flamingo 1 < Bride of Franken 6 Bb She is Black/White/Green all three strong against Flamingo

3 Venetian 1 < Parakeet 11 B (KO) Parakeet was only Green/yellow Super Rare I had, hate bashing these babies with Epics. Pink would have been an extra bonus if I'd had one but have to avoid white here

4 Peace 2 < Pink Lotus 3 B (KO) Pink Lotus and Pixie are the only pink/purple I have, given black was to be avoided here. PL has higher rarity so the obvious choice

5 Maple 2 < Lightning 11 B (KO) Sadly Lightning is the only pink/yellow I have, so had to use him against the baby. :(

6 Poseidon 3 < Dark Crystal 7 B (KO) I didn't have a Yellow/Purple high enough, so Gemstone Purple did the job.

7 Turkey 3 < Lightning 11 bM The strengths and weaknesses against Turkey left little choice (other than a Champ), having to avoid black, blue and red.

8 Metal 5 < Glitter 10 bbm I looked at the component colours and gave myself a level and rarity advantage as I'm not good with the non-colour types at all yet. I was wary of the magic as Glitter uses pink magic but the bashes were looking iffy.

9 Sphinx 6 < Lightning 11 bbm As above, focused on the Blue type plus components, then added level and rarity advantage. Might be time to break out the Champs soon - the KOs have stopped!

10 Lovelight 6 < Lightning 11 B (KO) Worked for Maple, so repeat performance.

11 Sugar Skull 6 < Nightlight 8 bbb Would have preferred Banshee here, but had popped him on the Breeding Den not knowing what was coming up in the Arena. I needed to avoid yellow, green, pink and black all at the same time!

12 Illusionist 8 < Lightning 11 bB Would have preferred Air as yellow strong against red and blue, pink not mentioned. However Air was, yes, you guessed it, on the breeding den with Banshee. So Lightning was my next best option as green was to be avoided meaning Parakeet was out.

13 Troll 8 < Crusader 12 Bb Aside from my Landworm loss last night, I read a neighbour used her Fire 12. My Fire is not as good a fighter, clearly, despite his posturing and posing in his habitat. So losses to Landworm and Fire.

14 Royal 9 < Lightning 11 mB He is my most senior Pink (strong against Royal) without an "Avoid Using" i.e. Green colour. Banshee (white) was still flirting up a storm on the breeding den.

15 Tanuki 12 < Gilded Knight 10 B (KO) I could have tried Lightning here, but I was lazy and reached for the easy solution.

16 Caesar 9 < Gilded Knight 10 B (KO) The colour cross-matching meant I needed a Rainbow Pink Gemstone AND avoiding black, blue, red and purple before even bothering to factor in level and rarity. I don't have a Rainbow Pink Gemstone (any two of the three would have done), so I settled for the all-rounder.

17 Watermelon 9 < Crusader 12 bM (note, Diamond magic) Watermelon is usually one of my soldiers, I'm not used to coming up against him at all. Red is looking like the best option. Nope, scratch that - Fire 12 just lost. Update: went back in with Crusader for what looks like a Diamond, rather than red, victory.

18 Secret 9 < Gilded Knight 10 Bbb If I had one, I'd have used Black/White/Green but Bride of Franken was too young. I tried her just on the off-chance, close but no cigar.

19 Capricorn 12 < Crusader 12 bmm Colour chart says Red has the advantage. Knowing my Fire I wasn't even trying, even so again the magic seemed more potent than the colour. There is a player whose Fire 15 has 238 wins out of 292 fights - I think my Fire is the complete reverse!!

20 Barbarian 14 < Diamond 15 bM This one needs no comment!

21 Healer 12 < Landworm 10 bM Easy choice as no type clashes and this time Landworm came through The Red magic was more effective than the combined-type bash though.

OK, from about here on in I get nervous, and that affects my choices! I tend to go with the Champs and Diamonds unless I think I have a clear type advantage. Anyway, onward and upward, as they say. Not too bad so far.

23 Sugar Plum 16 < Warrior Prince 10 mmb Gilded Knight 10 lost (should have gone with Watermelon)
24 Sorcerer 17 Warrior Prince 10 B (KO) Watermelon, Quetzal both lost (was saving Diamond for next round) No wonder I lost - was looking at the wrong dragon (Sorceress) - thanks Sipland for pointing it out!
25 Bladewing 19 < Firestorm 6 bmb Diamond 15, Crusader 12 lost, read Firestorm (http://forums.storm8.com/showthread.php?86535-Dueler-Dragon-Tournament-Nov-17-2015/page9&p=1208106#post1208106) was beating Barbarian for others, so I sent the "angry little dude" in. Yippee!

26 Paradise 18 < Lightning 11 bBb Parakeet 11 lost - yellow/green actually not best choice, but had won with that before with a level advantage, so used it again. When I checked (after he lost) Green is weak against Red, so yellow/pink much better option.

27 Musketeer 18 < Warrior Prince 10 bbb Same colour combo as Rd 15, so I used the same solution, a Champ

28 Red Queen 20 < Shadow 3 Bb Warrior Prince 10, Venomous 3, Bat 3, Diamond 15 lost I just don't have a senior black/yellow so this one was causing me problems until I went for the third baby! I think Shadow gets an evolution or two now.

29 Forbidden 20 < Gold 3 bMm Given this seems to be the babies tournament, with wins to Firestorm and Shadow in earlier rounds, I went for the youngest recommended colour combo I had, Diamond/Yellow Gold baby.

30 Dueler 20 < Harvest 10 Bb Dueler sent an inordinate number of my best to the spa, including Diamond 15, Crusader 12, Quetzal 10, Infinity 9 and Fire 12. Well, OK, Diamond and Fire never win anything on my island, so "best" is an exaggeration. Anyway, I selected Harvest by simply going down the list of Super Rares and he was next in line.

Good luck to those still battling and congratulations to those with Dueler on a nest. To those with him stuck in storage, my commiserations. :(

I'm going to follow the lead of those before me and add to this post as we go. I'm also going to include why I picked particular dragons, it may help the newbies following along. Here the rounds after the one completed are the colour combination choices I am planning to use against the opponent, subject to change based on dragon availability!

3 Venetian 1 < Parakeet 11 B (KO) Parakeet was only Green/yellow Super Rare I had, hate bashing these babies with Epics. Pink would have been an extra bonus if I'd had one but have to avoid white here

4 Peace 2 < Pink Lotus 3 B (KO) Pink Lotus and Pixie are the only pink/purple I have, given black was to be avoided here. PL has higher rarity so the obvious choice

5 Maple 2 < Lightning 11 B (KO) Sadly Lightning is the only pink/yellow I have, so had to use him against the baby. :(

6 Poseidon 3 < Dark Crystal 7 B (KO) I didn't have a Yellow/Purple high enough, so Gemstone Purple did the job.

7 Turkey 3 < Lightning 11 bM The strengths and weaknesses against Turkey left little choice (other than a Champ), having to avoid black, blue and red.

8 Metal 5 < Glitter 10 bbm I looked at the component colours and gave myself a level and rarity advantage as I'm not good with the non-colour types at all yet. I was wary of the magic as Glitter uses pink magic but the bashes were looking iffy.

Game update today messed with the app. Crashed twice during a battle today after restarting my device.
According to the description in the Google Play store this update was supposed to fix bugs and improve performance. Time to install an older version

I'm going to follow the lead of those before me and add to this post as we go. I'm also going to include why I picked particular dragons, it may help the newbies following along. Here the rounds after the one completed are the colour combination choices I am planning to use against the opponent, subject to change based on dragon availability!

3 Venetian 1 < Parakeet 11 B (KO) Parakeet was only Green/yellow Super Rare I had, hate bashing these babies with Epics. Pink would have been an extra bonus if I'd had one but have to avoid white here

4 Peace 2 < Pink Lotus 3 B (KO) Pink Lotus and Pixie are the only pink/purple I have, given black was to be avoided here. PL has higher rarity so the obvious choice

5 Maple 2 < Lightning 11 B (KO) Sadly Lightning is the only pink/yellow I have, so had to use him against the baby. :(

6 Poseidon 3 < Dark Crystal 7 B (KO) I didn't have a Yellow/Purple high enough, so Gemstone Purple did the job.

7 Turkey 3 < Lightning 11 bM The strengths and weaknesses against Turkey left little choice (other than a Champ), having to avoid black, blue and red.

8 Metal 5 < Glitter 10 bbm I looked at the component colours and gave myself a level and rarity advantage as I'm not good with the non-colour types at all yet. I was wary of the magic as Glitter uses pink magic but the bashes were looking iffy.

9 Sphinx 6 < Lightning 11 bbm As above, focused on the Blue type plus components, then added level and rarity advantage. Might be time to break out the Champs soon - the KOs have stopped!

10 Lovelight 6 < Lightning 11 B (KO) Worked for Maple, so repeat performance.

11 Sugar Skull 6 < Nightlight 8 bbb Would have preferred Banshee here, but had popped him on the Breeding Den not knowing what was coming up in the Arena. I needed to avoid yellow, green, pink and black all at the same time!

12 Illusionist 8 < Lightning 11 bB Would have preferred Air as yellow strong against red and blue, pink not mentioned. However Air was, yes, you guessed it, on the breeding den with Banshee. So Lightning was my next best option as green was to be avoided meaning Parakeet was out.

13 Troll 8 ----- I thought this was the easy one, no colours to avoid from the "Weak Against" cross-matches - selected Landworm lost in three bashes. Going to bed now, shall resume hostilities on the morrow.

Hi Ozigal - are you in Melbourne? We could coffee over dragons? :)

All I am doing is colour cross-matching. Look at Caesar for an example (SA means Strong against, so good, AU = Avoid Using):

Caesar
White SA: Blue, Purple, Stone, Rainbow, Champion, Egypt, Soccer AU: Black, Mythic, Cosmic, Royal
Yellow SA: Pink, Black, Cosmic, Zodiac, Champion AU: Red, Blue, Gold
Green SA: Red, Mythic, Dino, Gemstone, Royal, Champion, Soccer AU: Purple, Black, Stone

I exclude any colour that is flagged as AU for one of the other colours of the opponent dragon. While red is strong against Caesar's green type, it is weak against his yellow type. I want to minimise the points I lose for using weak colours, so only use anything that is left as black text in the SA lists above. I then try to be higher and rarer. If I have nothing that fits the bill, (I didn't have a Rainbow Pink Gemstone or any combination thereof) out comes the Champion (an all-rounder is how I see them).

Kooky posted the type advantages on the front page, it is just a matter of analysing each opponent combination. Doesn't mean you'll win - there is a randomness factor built into the battle calculations, but it should improve the odds.

I've always used the single type level 10 common dragons for battling, and still continue to do so. Occasionally I use Diamond (also level 10!) against the really annoying opponents, mostly champs. Besides that I've been defeating high leveled opponents with baby Fires, Airs and Forests... In the Warrior Prince tournament I beat Warrior Princess L16 with Fire L1, Divine L18 with Air L3, Helios L20 with Forest L1 and Warrior Prince himself was taken down by Landworm L3... So there's always a way, also for newbies!
And, btw, I NEVER use ultimate attack!

It's not just you... 15 rounds won and 14 flutes in storage. Not that I care too much, but maybe Kooky or TL can have a look at this issue?

Speaking about 15 wins... That means I'm half way :) Not as smooth as the Venomous tournament, but no reason to complain.

Well Bastiaan0, I keep reading about those players, you included, who use the commons. A couple of my neighbours swear by their Fire dragon - mine couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag and Air isn't any better. I have used babies a few times, with some success, but they weren't fire, air or forest. They just crash and burn on my island.

I didn't use any ultimates last tournament and I don't intend to this tournament. The first couple of tournaments I just did not have any fire power. Now I have a couple of epic Champions and a Diamond 15. Plus I'm trying to get to the point where I can almost do the calcs in my head on the fly. But that is a personal objective! LOL

Glad I'm not the only one missing a flute, but I agree, one flute is neither here nor there. I did one battle when I was at the supermarket yesterday on my Android - rare for me, I usually only battle on wi-fi. It could have been that battle, I don't trust telco data.

I started my first tournament with skeletal knight, when I look at forum some players dragons I do not even know or what Colour type they are... I do not even know what are champions type... The only dragons I knew was green, blue, red etc.

The only thing applicable was common dragons for a newbie like me, yes I do admit I followed yr thread in skeletal knight because that was only the list of dragons I had lol.

So I started my fight with common dragons too lol, it is I do not have a choice :p

Then Cupcake took me to the cleaners in Round 23. A couple of losses in a few more rounds and I think it took me almost a week to get them all finally through the spa. Fingers crossed for the next 9 rounds.

I am probably not much help to you on this. Until I got my Diamond up, I struggled with Champs too. Banshee disposed of Rogue for me last tournament, after I'd lost at least five other dragons, including Diamond at level 13. The tournament before I used Maple against Valkyrie, but both my dragons were level 13 from the Dragon Tales events.

Champions are weak against other Champions, sad to say, but hopefully they are as weak as each other.

Many suggest throwing new baby commons at them and just sell if they lose. I've had success in the past with using my latest dragon, once only 20 minutes off the nest, after a suggestion from a more experienced player but I can't remember who it was.

Best I can suggest is look at what others are winning with and try to get as close as you can, but really against champs I think it is the roll of the dice, if you go up against them with anything "lesser".

I am sure one of the more experienced players may have a better suggestion. Use the strongest I.e. Rarest and highest level, you have, keep healing and tackling again. You have until Sunday USA time.

I used Ultimate against Black Knight, whichever tournament that was - he nearly wiped me out.

In a previous tournament I took down Barbarian lvl 19 with Fire lvl 1. Sometimes the babies can surprise you! Another tactic is to try your rarest 3 colour dragons. You could try Earthquake if you have it. Also some have luck with low level recently introduced dragons. Good luck!

But I can buy some commons at the market and try those at level one. And I do have Firestorm at level 7 and 10. And I have some fairly new 3 colored dragons. So this gives me some choices to experiment with to see what works for me. Thanks again! :cool:

Me too Hun, tried like crazy for Infinity after getting Quetzal and Crusader pretty easily, then after a lot of hardwork got Infity, kept trying for Gold all the Boosted Breed week, without any luck, seeing how difficult it is to get Gold, i also bought Unicorn! :) now will work equally hard for the other hybrids. For those coming up to Level 26 Paradise 18 < Lightning 11 bBb Parakeet 11 lost - yellow/green actually not best choice, but had won with that before with a level advantage, so used it again. When I checked (after he lost) Green is weak against Red, so yellow/pink much better option. That's my theory, anyway. :) Full results are on page 2 of this thread.

Round 3 use dragon 1 recover from healing, U can heal dragon 1 or 2 yr choice
Round 4 This round u do not have dragons just buy fire or green if lost just sell them
Round 5 you can use yr dragon or just buy fire or green

Of course I really hope any1 does not go up to this stage, but it really helps in queuing dragons in spa n more importantly there are harder battles ahead, good luck

The prize for winning the entire tournament is the Dueler dragon.

The prize for winning a fight is one pan flute.

So after this tournament is over you will need to continue fighting in order to collect 99 pan flutes to craft the Night Imp dragon.

There are two different dragons. If you win the tournament, the dueler dragon will be in your storage. No need to craft.
You need 99 pan flutes to be able to craft the Night Imp, but we have more than 4 days to do that. it is usually a month, I believe. Winning battles gets you the flutes & you will have to keep battling even after this tournament ends in order to get enough to craft the night Imp.

But I can buy some commons at the market and try those at level one. And I do have Firestorm at level 7 and 10. And I have some fairly new 3 colored dragons. So this gives me some choices to experiment with to see what works for me. Thanks again! :cool:

Easier to buy Fire in market. Buy. Hatch. Place in habitat. Fight. Win then fight again. Lose then sell. Repeat as needed. Also good to have 13th level Fire for tournaments.

Yes, just now. Dueler was the hardest for me. I think it took 4 tries. I think I only had one other loss this tournament. Usually it is the other way around: hard tournament, except for the boss dragon.

In the end, after several 4 gold speed ups of the Arena (my choice, could have stuck the iPad in the bottom drawer for a day) Harvest 10 took out the boss surprisingly easily. I'd got to the point where I was just going down the list of epic Super Rares and Harvest was next in line. Diamond 15, Crusader 12, Quetzal 10 and Infinity 9 all lost. Full tournament results on page 2 if anyone is looking for possibilities to try.

However, prior to that the boss took out many of my guys so now I DO have a long line for the spa.

I had a pretty good run until the last round then all hell broke loose.

Lightning (pink/yellow) was my star performer this tournament, taking out 7 of the 30 rounds. Warrior Prince took 4, Gilded Knight and Crusader 3 each.

Diamond, newly crowned Epic 15 just prior to the tournament, won ONE round and lost three. Don't even get me started on Fire, those people who have an unbeatable Fire. Mine is just a poser!

Thank you Sam, i did try Firegiant lvl 4, but no luck, so i sped the with 4G and used Disco and Viola! i got him, with BMM, 2nd M was pretty strong, i couldnt even see the little red line but Bladewing was still up, so 1 more Magic and he was gone! thank God!

I felt dragon battles are random, I stop using the charts btw lol it just do not work after I compare my results. Comparing results I even have dragons which is weak with the only Colour n I beat it...

Looking at the results almost every1 is different lol

I just beat blade wing... Lost skeletal knight7, diamond9, fire10, Fire1

I beat it with fire1 with KO seriously???? Beat it ok lucky but KO???? When fire10 n previous fire1 could not, Super rare n ultra rare dragons after feeding them so much was never close to KO any hard to beat dragons

I finally beat Sorceress with Honeybee 10 after losing all day long. Now I'm stuck with Bladewing. The last ~ 6 dragons are always such a pain in the butt. The first 20 dragons were so easy (I was actually surprised), but here we are again.

The worst part is that Champions don't seem to have a weakness. I'm pretty sure with them it's just pure luck and absolutely random sigh
And I'm already nervous about Forbidden and Dueler.

I finally beat Bladewing with Skeletal Knight 10 :)
Unfortunately I don't have any of those dragons you mentioned. My best fighters are probably my two level 10 Champions. I was actually about to raise my Skeletal Knight to level 11 (and beyond), but then I saw the announcement for the Dragon Tales event, so I'll have to save food for that. Maybe afterwards I'll be able to raise it a couple more levels.

But thanks for the suggestions! I'll keep it in mind if I ever get one of them :D

Just finished here, almost disappointed that dueller was easy for me. the cleaner (Diamond 15) took him out with one swat (bash) as he did with several other dragons this tournament hence his nickname. Other surprising stars were Warrior Princess 10 who took four rounds versus Gilded 15's three. She has definately earned a level up. I had planned on possibly immortal but not sure now, besides he is starving so just ten for him I think. For the first time a royal helped me out twice and proved he deserved his place, Jester will get leveled. Not so sure about the rest of his menagerie, they generally suck! I used Hook with succes and was ver glad I spent gold on that wheel. Also USA came in handy in taking out Red Queen first shot where I believe others had plenty of trouble so another wheel triumph. I also finally scored my gold dragon leaving just the unobtainable black diamonds, rainbow and astromancer remaining. Not for lack of trying lol. Good luck to those still battling, see you in tales although I will likely be late as I stupidly put Anubis on the temple. My full results on page one if anyone is interested.

Tournaments are supposed to be hard, take heart, it does get easier the more you play but it's never easy. I still use ultimate a fair bit on the toughies. There are lots who won't but if I get pissed off I just swallow hard and pay my 30 gold and move on. It's not worth the stress to me.p and I figure if I can have a 1500 gold dragon for even 150 gold which is what some of the tournaments have cost me then I've done well. This is one of the few that I have not spent a single gold, not even to speed up. Well there was the gold I spent to get my soccer dragon out of the temple but doesn't count to me lol. I needed him to defeat the red queen lol and didn't want to wait or try something else ��♥️ Happy battles!

Dragon battles are random imo if all else fail there is always 30gold on yr right :p

Do you have a metal? I'd try chrome if you have it, if not air or anything with yellow you are brave doing two accounts lol

I nearly bet any Gold Dragon with Autumn.

If you dont have an ultra with yellow try any super with yellow. But simultaneously be careful with purple and pink .

Don't worry, I have Diamind, rarely wins anything. Harvest 10 worked for me, but that was after about 16 losses. Only round I had difficulty with really, but it was a struggle.

Someone on pg one of this thread beat Dueler with a Fire baby (lv 1). I've also seen people say they won with Kite, landworm, atlantis, rose knight, and venomous.

Hard to say, but most of those dragons listed super rare. Maybe just try some of your highest level super rare dragons who perform well for you in arena?

Stuck on Bladewing for a solid day now. They've obviously changed the odds. So far Inquisitor, Rainbow Sentinel, Angel, and Unicorn, all level 15, have lost multiple times. This sucks.
