Why are Thanks giving goals a yearly affair.

Isn't it only celebrated in the US? I don't even know anything about it other than what I saw in the Addams family movie. :(

VanaCatu

well, developers already "fixed" this "issue" in restaurant story game: not thanks, just seasonal apples! :)

anyhow!
despite i'm not in u.s., - i always liked all this thanksgiving entourage.
despite i see no logic in celebrating of thanksgiving to nation which u took original lands from, and which u cut to minimum population and put it into tight reservations, - i see no reason why the game developed in u.s. cannot celebrate this national holiday :)

Well, S8 is a US company so nothing wrong with them celebrating some US holiday every year. They also do yearly July 4th goal which IMO is more country-restricted, because of the US flag on decors.
BTW, we Canada also celebrate thanksgiving, but it's in October so this goal is hardly relevant to us now

Thanks. I just don't feel the decor is relevant to users from other countries.
Maybe people like it, I don't have a problem with S8 posting thanksgiving content, but I was hoping for different goals. I'll be happy with RS for now.

I totally understand your feeling. The grand prize of July 4th goal this year is quite nice, but because of that huge US flag on it, I never used it :( The goals are acutally quite predicatble for Jan, Apr, July, Oct, Nov, and Dec since I started playing BS a few years ago, so don't hold your breath for those months! ;)

Actually, it's a common misconception that Thanksgiving is about anything you mentioned. Thanksgiving was 1st declared a national holiday by Abraham Lincoln in 1863 to attempt to reunite the US during the civil war. (Washington's idea of a harvest holiday was never an official decree.) Of course the story is more interesting than that as we really have Ms Sarah Hale and all her letter writing to "thank" as she believed the US would only be strong if we set aside one day, the same throughout the nation, to join with family in "a day of Thanksgiving and Praise." Lincoln's proclamation has nothing to do with Natives, Pilgrims, or really turkeys until Macy's and the Post put those ideas out there.

Natasha_07
11-11-15, 03:02 PM
Macy's also made Santa Claus even more popular by commercializing him but that's another story.

I think people prefer the 'legend' of Thanksgiving traditions rather than the real life story since that idea is more popular.

oh! guys, sorry if i sounded in my comment like i don't respect yr holiday!
and i do understand that any national holidays are much more (or even completely different) than they are promoted all over the world, i really do!
sorry if i made you to think that :-)

i think any holidays are right when the family is all together, or all yr friends r all together, or both, - no matter which kind of holidays they are :)

i'm just too critical to any ideas, i guess. common idea is just an instrument to manage people, not more.

so i love holidays for its entourage and "connecting people" much more than for its' ideas, - again, no matter which idea they bring... sorry!

hope u will accept my appologies.
and have a wonderful holidays! :)

Funny thing, they still teach the wrong information to children in schools, and they don't even bother to teach the right stuff in the later grades either...

On the goals, the only thing I really like is the cornucopia oven. I don't care for any of it's recipes but the actual design of it is really cute. Storing al, of these prizes the moment I get them! :)

So, I have been playing for over 2 years now. I was tipping one of my neighbors when I noticed a fifferent oven. It was a Turkey Oven. Does anybody know how I can get one of these because she had about 4 of them. I like to think that I have just about all of the ovens that have came out over the past 2 years and I would really like this one also!

I like turkeys, guys! really. they're much more tasty than chicken.

moreover, when i read about them in english, they always make me fun.

interesting that "turkey" in russian sounds "indEyka".
(word sounds almost like
- "indIyka" in russian means "indian girl/woman" (from India), and
- "indIANka" in russian means "girl/woman of american indians".
so this tasty international bird is or from Turkey, or from India, or from America, - who knows? lol )))

but more interesting that english word "turkey" looks like russian word meaning "the Turks".
so when i hear "stuffed turkey", for example, u can only guess wht i imagin firstly! lol )))

long time ago, i was working with german guys. they shared with me this incredible recipe that make me laugh.
they caught it on the wall of one restaurant in duesseldorf, where they had a corporate new year party:

http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/attach/c/4/80/743/80743466_IMG_0249_camel_receipe.jpg

stuffed and baked camel (~ for 400 servings)

- 500 dates
- 200 medium seagull eggs
- 20 carps
- 4 turkeys (unfeathered and gutted)
- 2 sheeps
- 1 big camel
- spices as you like

dig out a big pit for fireplace.
wait until the fire goes down to 1 meter high.
boil and peel eggs.
scale the carps.

stuff the carps with dates and eggs.
stuff spiced turkeys with stuffed carps.
stuff the sheeps with stuffed turkeys.
stuff the camel with stuffed sheeps.

tar/pitch the camel round, wrap him in banana leaves and place in firepit.
pour some soil on top, and bake during two days.

so... BON APPETIT, guys! :D
this is wht i call horn of plenty! LOL ))

That right. How did they manage to complete so fast. I am struck at asking 24 requests from our NEIGBHOURS. We can only use 20 requests in a day so impossible to complete so fast unless we use gems to skip. I don't want to waste my gems just for that. Is not worth it.

So far haven't used any gems to complete goals just short cooking times and good neighbors, it takes a lot work mastering recipes for gems to waste on rushing goals. Right now I'm stuck on Thank You Notes and Welcome Mats too. Got all 12 mats and 9 notes

Aww, the Harvest Hot Cocoa looks so tiny! Is it supposed to look that tiny?

LOL VanaCatu, that recipe is like the German version of a Turducken.

I don't know why but it's not tiny in my game xD

If you're using Android then you can change the font. It might be because of the font they're using. Sometimes recipes appear small when I change to a certain font :)

Sorry yes I changed the theme on my android phone I love the background and fonts, but graphics on my games shrunk a little or look different 😳 lol

How did you complete so fast? Have you got millions of gems saved in your game? If so please pass them my way :P

I didn't rush to complete this goal, also I didn't use any gems for any goals :) :)
I don't care if people have completed this goal or not... But I think you guys need the pictures, so I posted..

oh c'mon, guys! Lala, Baker!
they do it for gems - who cares?
each user plays the game in the way he wants and he can, "no judges attached"! :)

better say thanks for information and have fun with new tasty recipe (http://forums.storm8.com/showthread.php?86357-BAKERY-GOALS-2015-Nov-11-Thanksgiving&p=1204976&viewfull=1#post1204976) which i wd really like to see one day somewhere 1st of april in BS or RS, LOL ))

This is fantastic! Thank you so much for the pictures of the goals and prizes PepperWoo, pcabral03, VanaCatu and Lenkapon - its greatly appreciated :) Am still on the serve turkey truffles part! So its great to know what to expect. The final prize isn't to my taste as I find the family very mismatched/odd lol. If only the turkey parade balloon was the final prize - then that would be awesome! :D

Oh no! I have to purchase that horrible wagon - oh c'mon S8!!! (just my opinion as I know many like it, but its definitely not to my taste). I am dying to get my hands on the little cute pet turkey though, so will end up buying the wagon (grudgingly), lol :p

VanaCatu - u just made me LOL with that recipe :D (am at work on the internet - being naughty while boss is away!). Thx for the good laugh!

I love this forum too - its a great place full of interesting and diverse people with their own unique playing styles. Have a great weekend everyone :)

You know, I really had no idea that Thanksgiving in the US originated from Lincoln and not with the pilgrims. I'm happy to learn that.

Anyway, the thanksgiving tables and wallpaper are so beautiful, i really like them. The goal prize is something i'm not too crazy about but it's tons better than the 4th of july one.

Thanks for this guide!

you are welcome :)

and, it's ok. i know that our tabletts have their own mind about everything we write ;)
(even flattering somehow to be called catullus, lol)))

I manage to complete the goal without using any gem. strange thing is that the goal want us to serve 12 Thankful Tea. Even the Thankful Tea was spoiled all are counted. You really don't have to wait for the Thankful tea to be cooked and the goal prize will pop out

I was wondering why there are no Native Americans shown in the whole goal. I'm a bit offended by that.

they appear in s8 land not so often... i guess i've seen them max 2 or 3 times during 2yrs playing. remember exactly about fashion story, not sure abt other "stories".
but we were right talking about it (http://forums.storm8.com/showthread.php?86357-BAKERY-GOALS-2015-Nov-11-Thanksgiving&p=1204747&viewfull=1#post1204747), so maybe it cd be a reason )))

I prefered the old way when we could visit 15 players and tip 10 or so. Now it take sooo long to continue the goals. We need new tools for each oven. Its like the gear and the common material isn't anything we use anymore. So when we have to ask for all this new material we ALSO need to ask for 24! of something else. I dont even know what it is, but i havent been able to get passed it in 3 days.

Please we have limit time to complete the goals dont make us get stuck. We can only recieve 20 items a day and i have to add more neighbors to make sure i get 20. Even if i sadly dont have time to tip them all daily!

I dont like changes when the passed things worked just fine!

It take to long time. We cant cook meanwhile because if we need tool for the new ovens too we will never finish. And when we finally have the oven we cant cook more than 1-2 hour dishes so the whole time we are sleeping or working it spoils. Facepalm

Sorry for confusing text, all i want is to get rid of the thank you notes or less materials needed. Its to much we need to continue the goals and finish them.

I think the programmers are balancing needing to ask for so many "non parts" like thank you notes, with significantly less required cooking.

I personally would like it to go back to asking for less and having to cook double digits, because lately I have plenty time to make 24 tarts, but I can see that for people who can only log in a couple of times a day, it might be much easier overall to be doing more asking-type tasks then multiple bakes. You can also imagine it might encourage us to try to recruit our friends to play for more neighbors. Maybe?

My goal reverted back to buying the turkey and preparing the cocoa, when I made a check only half of the drink machines were preparing the cocoa, :(
So far I hate these goals!
