How do you plant a accepted gift?

i recently recieved a gift of a neighbour and i dont know how i can plant it any help thanks

First of all, you need an empty (ie, nothing, not even grass) slot in your city to place that gift.
Go to "edit" (tool bar on the bottom right corner), you will see a padlock icon on the bottom left corner. Click and you'll see the gift in the inventory. Click on the gift, and then click on the empty slot to "plant" the gift there.
