I've been playing a game! Have you figured out this week's answer? The answer is: TRADE


I checked with the team and we've recently adjusted how frequently gems can drop from trades. Sorry for the confusion!

Monster Hunt Event Season 2! (September 2015)
prepared by SpiritWind.

Pre-requisites:
Level 22+
You need version 1.3.3 (iOS) [Android latest version at the moment is 1.2.5.4g April 2015] need to check on this, but it will still be the minimum... SW


New for Season 2
1. The 3 monster statues from previous season are NO LONGER decorations. Place them on your board. 22 hour collection time.
Note: if they don't have the timer on them, put them in inventory and place them again.
2. Blythewood trees will spawn monsters
3. You can now craft the statues with gold coins.
Skunkupine - 10 gold coins
Fangbeast - 25 gold coins
Dire boar - 50 gold coins.
* You can only craft 1 of each statue and then the trade is unavailable.
* The crafted statue is also functional.

4. If you have the Jousting Arena at levell 5 it will spawn a monster on every collection.

Goals for Season 2.
Part 1: Welcome Back, Trader Trolls - collect 30 tokens, complete any Token trade. Reward: 1400 coin, 5xp, 1 pile of tokens.
Part 2: A New Season, a New Statue - defeat any 10 monsters. Reward: 1400 coin, 5xp, 1 pile of tokens.
Part 3: Troll Curses? - defeat any 25 monsters. Reward: 2400 coin, 7xp, 1 Season 2 slayer statue

Drops from Statues:
Skunkupine Statue: shield tokens (around 5 per collection)
Fangbeast Statue: sword tokens (around 2 per collection)
Dire boar Statue: staff tokens (around 1 per collection)


Tips and Tricks:
* DON'T tap the troll pit!!!! Regular trolls don't drop tokens. Neither do pink skunkupines, pink alicorn or wedding alicorn.
* Monsters also drop their normal items in addition to the tokens
* Do the Novice Hunter Trade if you are nearly maxed on Shield tokens so that they don't go to waste

The Daily Hunt - iOS only- each day you will have the chance to battle a monster to get Tokens. There are 3 types of Daily Hunts:
1. Novice Challenge - defeat 5 skunkupines or fangbeasts [10 energy crate]
2. Adept Challenge - collect from a pond to trigger a blue dire boar (30 hits) [10 energy crate]
3. Sovereign Challenge - collect from a glimmerdust trove to trigger a purple golem (90 hits) [25 energy crate]
Reward for each hunt is an energy crate - it goes to your inventory so you can chop it anytime you want!
Note: you get multi hits on each sword hit, so a 30 hit monster might only take 20 energy.


The Tokens! - You can have a max of 120 of each of these in inventory
Shield Token - awarded upon attacking skunkupines, fangbeasts, dire boars and glimmer golems
Sword Tokens - awarded upon slaying fangbeasts, dire boars and glimmer golems
Staff Tokens - awarded upon attacking dire boars, blue dire boars and glimmer golems
Gold Tokens - ONLY come from crafting the Sovereign Hunter Trade




OVERALL GOAL REWARD IS THE COOKING CAMP
99 Troll Tokens: Receive One Troll Token upon completion of Sovereign Hunter Trade

You need to do that trade 99 times. So that means 7425 shield tokens, 4950 sword tokens and 2475 staff tokens.

The Cooking Camp - what can you cook?
Costs $3000 to place
Flour, sugar, simple feast, breaded fish, noodles, pasta, stew, hearty feast, Ivy's hot sauce, spicy feast, cake, fish sandwiches, sundae, sweet feast, Mercury feast, chocolate, ice cream, butterfish, catfish soup.



REPORTED DROPS from the Trade Wagon

1. Lucky Token Trade 3 seconds: 10 Shield Tokens, 10 Sword Tokens, 10 Staff Tokens
Note: this trade is very hit and miss... Note you may not get back what you started with, so be prepared for this. Some reports of luck, more reports of not so much luck!
Reward - a chance to double your tokens
Reported Drops:
* I got back 10/10/18 - not sure which one was 8 extra though! SW
* 20 staff tokens, 7 sword, and 9 shield tokens.


2. Novice Hunter Trade 3 seconds: 25 Shield Tokens
Reward - Get a better assortment of prizes!
Reported Drops:
* 2 gems, glimmer shards, silver, creeptooth, Novice hunter trade drops:
* 8 energy, 4 energy, catfish, butterfish, living wood, wood, simple glue, bacon, wooden beam, jewels, glimmerdust, roast chicken
* Got from novice trade(multiple times): 1-2 gems, some shield/sword tokens, glimmer dusts, boar dusks, fish, roast chickens, woods, glimmer dusts, living woods, irons, catfishes, silver platters(not sure), and some others I cant remember
* 1 gem, 6 energy, 1 iron ore, 1 bacon, 1 water, 1 living wood, $15 coins (not sure what black bar'd), 2 sword tokens, 3 shield tokens
* 1 gem, 4 energy, 1 glimmerdust, 1 bacon, 1 glimmer shard, 1 glimmer fragment, 1 living wood, 2 sword tokens, 3 shield tokens, 1 stone (LOL!)

I am in the process of crafting Night Glimmer Sword. Literally - it will be ready tonight. Should I hold off collecting it?

Glimmer Golems are still showing up at Glimmer Gate. I know because I just tapped it, and one did. My understanding is that once Night Glimmer Sword is complete, Griselda will appear. So my questions are:

Does beating on Griselda's 100(?) hit points produce tokens? If yes, it may be well worth while.
Will Glimmer Golems stop appearing after I defeat Griselda?

I did sovereign trade and got a gold token... That's how it worked last time too. And unless they've changed the odds the "lucky token" trade isn't that lucky and you'll get much better rewards from any of the other trades!!

I don't know if it was just a fluke, but I tapped the pond directly and got a dire boar (I think it was blue), but only 8 energy to slay. When I checked my goal book the daily goal was still there and I had to tap the button in the goal to go to another pond where I got the 30 energy blue boar.

An interesting thing: When chopping a blythewood tree just now, a skunkupine appeared. I thought there was a fangbest last time I got a monster from that tree...:confused:

Er...I bought the Cooking Camp last season, when I got tired of the monster fighting...Now just using all Ali energy saved for update day. My monsters have been spawning very well these two hours, and I had some traps from last season. I used about 10 traps, I think. Fangbeast and dire boar traps...No magic involved:)

For most people this is a loooooooong term goal. In Season 1 I got 11 gold tokens, so I'm looking at 9 seasons unless they change things up :) Check page one for all the details! Happy Slaying!

So far, I haven't got a boar or golem to spawn in my Android kingdom. I do get tokens from fang beasts though. But if I only get tokens from them and skunkupines, it is going to a good, long while to reach 99 gold tokens. I'm level 22. Does that make a difference, I wonder?

You can only buy one extra of the statues. At least that's how it works with the Skunkupine statue. I had the one from last season, got my second one with saved gold tokens, and now the option to buy Skunkupine statues is gone.

Last monster hunt I got all monster statues and the last statue. They are on my board and do not have a timer on them telling me they will drop anything. Also, in my TRADE WAGON, I don't have the trade to turn shields into GOLD COINS!!! So, how am I supposed to get gold coins if I can't make them?? I have new craft statues in there but the "I think it was called" sovereign trade to turn shields into gold coins is not there???

Last monster hunt I got all monster statues and the last statue. They are on my board and do not have a timer on them telling me they will drop anything. Also, in my TRADE WAGON, I don't have the trade to turn shields into GOLD COINS!!! So, how am I supposed to get gold coins if I can't make them?? I have new craft statues in there but the "I think it was called" sovereign trade to turn shields into gold coins is not there???

Yes, that's the benefit of upgrading to level 4 or 5, specifically to drop monsters during monster hunt seasons.

I was having trouble spawning skunkupines but I have discovered chopping blythwood trees spawns them much more often than sugarcane or wheat or flowers. I finally made the novice goal which I hardly made last time. Hope it works for others. Wish you the best!

Cannot be crafted. You need the trade wagon to do an exchange.

You may want to do the Novice trade when you reach 120 shield tokens since that's the max. The novice trade will reward you about 5 staff tokens which is the hardest one to get.

I think that's normal for the slayer statue; mine doesn't have the timer either. But the jousting arena thing is weird. Mine spawns a skunkupine when I collect from it.

I don't think they are getting the extra statues for help in getting cooking camp. They are probably getting them as extra, working on their own goals outside of/or in addition to just getting cooking camp. As for myself, it was just forgetting about needing gold coins and assuming it was something new. At least I only did it on 2nd kingdom. You are right the math just doesn't work out as helping.

yes.. but i realise now, the golem was already activated on ios before i opened the game on android..
just tried the glimmerdust trove on my android but it didn't trigger any monster.

Some time between when I looked yesterday and when my statues were ready for collection, the wording in the trade wagon changed from them attracting beasts to them dropping tokens. I don't think they will do both, and personally I am happy with the tokens.

1. Statue drops have been added. Given that there has only been time for one collection, we don't know if they drop more than coins.
2. Jousting arena I just guessed so I have updated post 2 to say only a Level 5 arena will spawn a monster.

I used to play on an original ipad which by now is pretty old and crashes my normal (just turned) level 50 game. When I got a new tablet earlier this year I got android as I prefer it generally, obviously this means I have been at a massive disadvantage playing CS ever since ��

During the last Monster Hunt I only managed to get 4 gold tokens, which really sucked. So this time I decided to try and see if I could get the game to work on the ipad again. After practically stripping my kingdom bare and leaving only necessary buildings, flowers etc out I finally got it to load on the ipad and I got the daily trades.

The trick I discovered is, if I spawn the beasties on my ipad (blue boar via pond) battle them till they're down to the last few energy (collecting shield tokens all the way of course), give the game a minute to save itself and then force close. THEN open the game on my Android tablet and finish the beast off in there, it gives me a wodge of sword, staff and shield tokens for finishing, but not the energy crate. Again, give the game a minute to save and force close again. Go back onto the game in the ipad and voil?, daily trade is still available and visiting the pond spawns ANOTHER blue boar ��

So far today I've spawned that little bugger 4 times and I'm already up to 8 gold tokens and have gained 4 extra gems and plenty of items by doing novice trades with the excess of shield tokens I have.
Yes, my kingdom looks horribly bare and it can be a slight pain, but for a change I have an advantage.

Hope that all made sense, wanted to share it for anyone who could have/get access to both devices.

I think it should say Blythewood trees CAN spawn monsters.

I grew and chopped 4 Blythewood trees. Only 1 monster spawned, from the fourth chop of the first tree.
(Yes, I removed it from the board before continuing chopping the other trees). My guess is there are quicker, cheaper and less space consuming trees (and rocks) out there that give you a chance on random monster drops.

But hardly better looking ones :o

I did consider that, but if the two platforms are SO different that us Android players can't get the same gameplay as IOS players because it involves too much work, then I doubt they'd go to too much trouble to fix something that probably less than 1% of players can take advantage of.
Regardless, I'd rather share the info so a few others can take advantage as well, even if it only lasts a day or so, it's better than nowt. If nothing else we have the weekend to exploit it.

I honestly don't think it'll be fixed easily though. It's annoying having started on ipad as I gained the "wonderful" barons tent on there, because it can't be stored I now have a 'blank' patch on my Android kingdom that I can't place anything on because that's where the tent is on my ipad kingdom 😠 grrrrr, lol.

Anyhoo, I'm off to spawn that bluie for the 6th time 😉 hehe xxxx

You're right...Yesterday, I got more than one monster from every blythewood tree(chopped several). Today, not one monster from 10 chopped blythewood trees...

The gems was my favorite part of the event season one too :) it's nice getting 3-6 extra a day. I'm thinking of buying something new soon (can never sit on too many and have over 100) I've been wanting the Faerie Skunkhouse a while as it looks so cute and the drops are useful for me, although I'm questioning holding out for the Holliday events coming up as there are so many and a gem item likely to appear. Haha the torture we go through on what to do with these new found gems!

No, I'm on iOS and get the blue & purple monsters. I can do the novice trade to get rid of a few shields, so that I don't max out, but I still have loads of excess staff tokens I can do nothing with! It's the sword tokens I'm struggling to get!

Ah I got you, this is strange. My only other suggestion is the type of monster you are focusing on. From the firs page:

Shield Token - awarded upon attacking skunkupines, fangbeasts, dire boars and glimmer golems
Sword Tokens - awarded upon slaying fangbeasts, dire boars and glimmer golems
Staff Tokens - awarded upon attacking dire boars, blue dire boars and glimmer golems

So focus on the fangbeasts and dire boars. I seems to get higher rates with dire boars personally so plant lots of strawberries, coco, and collect from mines and seem to have luck with them, although I am sure it is written out everything that spawns them.

It is the sword token that I am always waiting on last too for sovereign trade, but never enough that I had maxed out on staff. Good luck to you!

harvest corn got every 5-10 a skunku, chopping rocks sometimes 3 or 4 direboars per mountain, then 2 rocks nothing:rolleyes:

We have exactly the same approach. :). I also have to wait a little for swords to catch up, but generally get enough shields for a novice trade or 2 which give me swords anyway.

Just wasted 140 energy and no monsters. Then I got a missing alicorn part (horn) from castle, so real happy :) I guess it evens out in the end.

However almost dreaming nightmares about wasting goldcoins on extra statues.

Btw, has anyone done the math, best way to get gold shields are to buy them(50gems) or dire Bore traps(5 gem).?

I have been paranoid about hitting the wrong button in the trade wagon. Today I was thinking about your post, reminding myself that I have to be sooooo careful whenever I'm about to do a trade in the trade wagon. Then 5 minutes later, I peeked in the wagon to see how many more tokens I needed to do the sovereign trade. I got distracted by a cough, then accidentally hit the un-lucky trade button! Nooooooo! I crossed my fingers that maybe this time it could actually be a lucky trade but it wasn't. I lost 1 shield, 5 sword and 1 staff tokens. Still no where near what you lost!

I know S8 is not fond of confirmation buttons, but it would be nice if they added one for all the trades in the trades wagon!

SW My unwanted skunkupine statue is obviously feeling the lack of love and refuses to leave the trade caravan. I can't place him on the board. As soon as I put him on a free space he runs straight back to his crate above the trade caravan, now that I've erroneously traded for him I would like to put him on the board and get some tokens from him. Please help. Has this happened to anyone else?

Oh ignore this, I put him in storage first and then bought him out and he was obviously feeling a bit shy, now he is happy to stay near his friends

I'm IOS so get plenty of shield from the daily hunts and trade those in with the novice trade when I'm close on the sword tokens needed for the gold token trade, but I too am about maxed out on the staff tokens and the sovereign trade doesn't use very many and the lucky trade isn't that lucky, so I just stay with excess of them.

No it's not a bug, probably your wedding alicorn triggered it. I think it's a throw back to a Valentine event before I started playing the game.You don't need to make a new sword. One of my games I finished the 5 very quickly even though I only had the wedding alicorn. My other game I couldn't trigger the pink pests for weeks but eventually completed 5. Sadly they don't count towards the monster hunt. Once you've slain 5 the quest is over. So I wouldn't advise using gems

My level 5 jousting arena triggered a troll:mad: what is that about? Why does it trigger a troll when they don't even drop tokens during the monster hunt? I don't have any goal in my goal book that triggers trolls from jousting arena

So as I was going along tapping and hoping to trigger beasts, I got a lovecupine (which I'd never seen before - I started playing in fall 2014) and now have a goal in my goal book "Beat up the ...Lovecupines" and I've beaten up 1/5. I also have the "craft a homemade sword" as an option in my workshops. Is the monster hunt resurrecting old beasts or is this a bug (in which case I'll post it on that thread)?

No it's not a bug, probably your wedding alicorn triggered it. I think it's a throw back to a Valentine event before I started playing the game.You don't need to make a new sword. One of my games I finished the 5 very quickly even though I only had the wedding alicorn. My other game I couldn't trigger the pink pests for weeks but eventually completed 5. Sadly they don't count towards the monster hunt. Once you've slain 5 the quest is over. So I wouldn't advise using gems

My level 5 jousting arena triggered a troll:mad: what is that about? Why does it trigger a troll when they don't even drop tokens during the monster hunt? I don't have any goal in my goal book that triggers trolls from jousting arena

I suspect you aren't alone! On my second game which is on an android phone I've seen an awful lot of trolls during this monster hunt. I'm not at the part of the game when I'm expecting trolls either, and I steered clear of the troll pit, but I was getting them in all the places where I'd expect a fangbeast, boar or skunkupine and they started up with this event. I was in despair of ever getting the statue but then I discovered that chopping rocks and trees or harvesting sugar cane got me the right type of monsters. So now I think I'll be OK. Not that the statue is much use at the moment. Maybe next season ...

SW My unwanted skunkupine statue is obviously feeling the lack of love and refuses to leave the trade caravan. I can't place him on the board. As soon as I put him on a free space he runs straight back to his crate above the trade caravan, now that I've erroneously traded for him I would like to put him on the board and get some tokens from him. Please help. Has this happened to anyone else?

Oh ignore this, I put him in storage first and then bought him out and he was obviously feeling a bit shy, now he is happy to stay near his friends

I accidentally bought the blasted skunkupine statue. I had been contemplating the fangbeast statue once I got enough gold coins. But I sure didn't need the skunky one.

And I also had issues with placing it on the board. But since I remembered the statues had to go into storage and back out to be collectible, I went that route also.

The goals come up 24 hours from when you finished them the last time.:) shouldn't be too long....

I dont mind when other buildings trigger trolls..I get them all the time..I'm only concerned that a level5 jousting arena triggered a troll. It was supposed to be an additional source of monsters during monster hunts. I thought some useful monster which drops tokens...not a troll

Please SpiritWind, can you send feedback that nobody wants a troll from a level5 jousting arena in a monster hunt..pretty please!?

Considering the fact that I now have a whopping 10 gold coins it is going to take a huge amount of these events for me to ever reach the 99 required. Not very fun at all.

At the moment I don't see a real benefit of having the cooking camp. But I really don't see a benefit of having more statues either. Maybe there will be some better trades for gold coins later on in the game.

I LOVE the monster hunt because I can stock up on gems and energy then use them in the game after the hunt has ended. I don't actually care about the cooking camp. I mostly do novice hunter trades, getting 1-3 gems fast. I've earned about 30+ gems, seven 25 energy crates and thirteen 10 energy crates SO FAR which will come in really handy during other quests. Monster hunt to me is the BEST season on castle story. Hehe hoard hoard hoard.

I've been using energy crates to do the living wood marathon. I might reconsider and start hoarding.

Just wasted 140 energy and no monsters. Then I got a missing alicorn part (horn) from castle, so real happy :) I guess it evens out in the end.

However almost dreaming nightmares about wasting goldcoins on extra statues.

Btw, has anyone done the math, best way to get gold shields are to buy them(50gems) or dire Bore traps(5 gem).?

Gonna answer myself... Gem wise it's way smarter to just buy the gold shield than any traps...

Same here. It will take me like 6 months to collect all the coins, having boring battles with animals and another 4 months to collect gold nuggets for some other goal. And the grooming mits .... Goals that need a long time to reach are just boring and it does not give a good feeling any more once they are (finally) reached. I hope for a halloween event ... hopefully without gold nuggets.

So, I'm an Android player, so no daily quests, but I was lucky enough to be in the middle of the Troll Tribe #1 quest line when this season started, so I've been getting dire boars about every 5 energy spent (or 2 energy spent on ponds). This has meant I've been doing about one Adept and one Sovereign trade per day. I started playing just a few days after the end of Season 1, so I had basically no tokens to start, and I've just gotten my 10th gold one. I do plan on building the swampy pond as soon as this monster season is over, but based on what I've heard from others, the sword tokens are in short supply? Right now, my sword tokens over flow; in the time it takes me to get 25 staff tokens, I get about 125 shields, so I can do the Adept+Sovereign, but that uses only 75 sword tokens, and I probably get 100 in the same amount of time.

Should I spend my 10 gold coins now on a skunkupine statue, so I can do more adept trades this season? Or should I save my coins for a fangbeast or dire boar statue next season (or later...)?
