I am not starting it until later. I learned my lesson last time. I started it right away and everything came out or due in the wee hours of the night. I am going to slide it later so I can work with it first thing in the morning before work and in the evening before bed.

I'm not entirely sure I like the last animal. Not sure, maybe it's the outfit? None the less, I will still try my best as it is an ultra rare and if I can at least get the pretty crane, that would be awesome! It looks like it could be fire/water? That would be great!

Of course my timing with food planting was a bit off. Maybe I'll speed one of my farms so I can get the power pears going. Hopefully I have enough food and other things saved up!

My biggest worry is that I want time to breed the St. Bernard too, I really wasn't expecting something like this at the same time as the trio. Hopefully any breeding needed will be quick and easy so I can stick to breeding the dogs most of the time.

Good luck everyone!

I agree 100% with this statement. I can't keep up when they've got these multiple events happening. One every two weeks would make me happier. Give us a chance to focus on one thing at a time and then move on.

There is no need to speed things up. The whole Chapter will take about 5 minutes to complete once you farms are clear and then you will need to wait until 12:00 Pacific Standard time to start the next Chapter.

Well I'm REALLY surprised that this one came so soon!
The good news is that I'm "half prepared" for it (I've got a 150K food reserve and more than 2M coins), the bad news is that I don't have bombs left and I'm 14 runes away from making a well needed expansion, those plans will have to wait unless I sell the Service habitat or sell some animal. I'll think a bit about when I'll start the event...

LonePudding
09-11-15, 12:33 PM
I'm fine with the bombs, but I recently reached 100,000 food (yay me!) and decided to use it to bring my Obsidian Cyclops to level 10, now I'm left with 40,000! I thought we wouldn't get another one for at least another 2 weeks!

I lost the first round of the battle so I am not going to waste too much time on that, and as I still haven't bred the first trio animal, I shall give that up. However, I am a total Marvel nerd so I shall put my all into this event ;)

How many chapters are there in total? I'm going to be pretty much offline next weekend, so either need to start it quickly if it's 7 days or wait as long as possible if it's longer.

They really are piling the events on atm. And in multiple games. Dragon, castle and restaurant 2 are demanding my attention too.

OK, I'm on the computer too now, and no longer on the iPhone alone.
I just checked the Wikia to see if it already listed more steps. I think I'll bite the bullet and shall start the story in 10 minutes time from now.
It's possible to view the stats of the Wondercat: when you click on the "Start Now" badge with the book, there's a small letter 'i' to the right of the Wondercat. It tells us she's a water-fire (!) ultra rare. That's too good to pass up on, so I shall full-blooded go for it!

Do note one other thing: there are THREE animals shown in the splash screen. I'm now going to have to take the possibility into account that we may need to bring BOTH to epic level during the course of this storybook!!! This is a thing to keep WELL in mind before starting the storybook!
Bringing two of the animals with ultra rare feeding costs (assuming that such will be the case for all three of these animals) will require a total of around 310,000 food. I currently have 163,826 food and in some 5 minutes time 1800 more. I shall act under the assumption that this time round we may need DOUBLE the amount of food we're fearing we'll need...

From what I've been able to read ahead on the upcoming tasks it looks like there's no mining anywhere before day 3 at least, so I'll just work on saving up on bombs too. I've got two now. If I encounter a step where I need more, I'll probably speed some attempts at the Service animals, so as to try and **** two birds with one stone.

Now... I'm not much of a fan of action here like figurines and animals, but it does look like the Patriotter may be getting a bride.... IF I can complete the entire storybook, that is....:P

@ ogreve .
Oh I hope you r wrong about the food bit. I don't think I will manage the back to back power pears this time round. ( my youngest one has mid term exams)
In the last adventure I was doing aura apples and power pears ias I was very low on coins coz I had spent it to expand to hareon
But this time I'm well stocked though a little low on food.
I wish they had given us little more time before rolling out another adventure.
I don't have the patrioter.. But it's there in a value pack , so just might succumb to temptation and make a pair of these two :)

I too hope I'm wrong on it, as it will mean that I too will have to grow some 145K food still in 10 days time. It's doable for me with the Charm Cherries and Nexus Nuts, but my forest currently "only" has an hourly earning rate of +/- 100K coins, and doing back-to-back Charm Cherries growing requires 156K per hour. But... one way to keep matters rather balanced is to grow Charm Cherries for most of the day and then grow Spell Melons overnight, as these are MUCH cheaper than the Nexus Nuts.
Cost may again become an issue later, as I'll need to expand during the course of the Storybook tale and the expansion cost alone is 1M for me. Then there's the foliage clearing steps... Yikes... The special habitat looks beautiful and I'm quite certain I'll buy it when it's on sale still. Colourwise I shall eventually want to have it on the blue plots, but the only ones available of those are the ones on the upper shelf which take a LONG time (33 hours) to clear of foliage and cost a lot to do so. I'll probably temporarily have to expand on the lower green plots and move the habitat to the blue plots at a later time...

Anyway, I was too trigger happy to wait, so I just started the storybook and completed the day 1 tasks. Right before going to bed I'll speed-clear the nest from the Plantlers that's on it, so the Sidekicker egg can hatch overnight. Tomorrow morning I'll have to sell a duplicate animal; most likely my level 4 Peamoth duplicate...

I just checked the Wikia again and it had been updated moments before that. There is now a lot of information on this event, the decoration, the tale (listed until act 1 of day 4), the habitat and the animals. I shall only copy the animal's types and incubation and evolution times:

Side Kicker
Nature-Fire
Incubation: 6 hour
Evolution: 4 hours

Super Heron
Water-Fire
Incubation: 7 hour
Evolution: 6 hours

Wild Wondercat
Water-Fire
Incubation: 1 hour
Evolution: 25 hours

VERY interesting: note how the Super Heron is also water-fire!

Now, the short incubation times of all three of the animals, and the short evolution times of the first two of them make it quite clear that all of them will need to be hatched during the course of the storybook (with a possible exception of the last one) and that the first two of them will almost certainly be raised to a specific level that requires evolutions. This does not necessarily mean that the both of them will have to be raised to full-blown epic level, maybe they only need to be raised to level 10 or 12 or so, which would save a LOT of food.
I can recommend everyone to not directly level up these animals to levels beyond those that we know in advance will be required.

Dragon Story also has a storybook adventure on now, and it also has 3 Dragons. You have to raise the first one to level 10, then feed it 5 or 10 more times. The 2nd one you have to evolve to level 10. The 3rd Dragon is the Grand Prize, and does not require feeding.
This is for comparison only, and does not mean this event will be the same, or even similar.
I am hopeful it will be similar, so the food is not completely out of reach for some, like last time.
I can't start it until we get more habitats and expansions. :(. Hopefully it happens soon. Good Luck all! :D Annie

EDIT: The DS adventure requires "feeding" instead of leveling up, in more steps than usual. Be sure to read the steps ahead carefully, as feeding ahead does not count if it asks you to "feed # times".

I have 363,421,295 coins. Yes, that is 363 million. I can afford the coins to play this. I feel for those who can't.

I have 842,036 food banked and I am growing Nexus Nuts every 5 hours. I can afford the food cost. I also feel for those who find themselves short of food. Didn't we just have one of these that took a toll on the food stores of many players?

I can't play this because both of my devices crash now with today's update. I also can't play this because I have reached the limit of the forest in this game and the habitat limit. I have no place to put new animals. Did S8 release three major quests at once so that those who, like me, have reached the game limit will give up and leave? I had thought about it, but today's blatant exhibit of disregard for those who have issues that are due to S8's neglect to stop the crashes and expand boundaries wirh removal of habitat limits which are due to the heavy graphics load of this game for those of us with mature forests containing many animals has encouraged me to stay and fight this slap in the face to players who love this game and have played it every day since the beginning.

You think you are safe from this problem because you still have room to expand and place habitats? Do you love this game and spend a lot of time playing it? Do you have a lot of time, dedication, and maybe even money invested in FFS? Well every animal you place in your forest adds to the graphics load that S8 is not fixing, and it is only a matter of time until an upgrade comes out like today's did for me, and your forest repeatedly crashes instead of allowing you to play like you were expecting to. This ramping up of the release of animals that the game developers have chosen to do instead of stopping the release of any more animals until they fixed the problem is only speeding all players toward inevitable crashes and graphics overload. I can tell you from experience, that suddenly realizing that you can't play your favorite game due to the the refusal of the game maker to plan and program from the beginning to avoid the situation they have created here is not a pleasant place to be. Just be warned, that if you do as I did and take advantage of the gem sales for this game, and play it with all your heart, you run the risk of finding yourself not only crashed out of your favorite game and/or unable to play it, not because you haven't earned enough coins or food, but because the developers failed to plan for the heavy load the intensive graphics of this game would inflict upon your device. I used to feel awful for Android players who are regularly shut out of the best this game has to offer, but maybe they will be the last players left after we iOS players are abandonded. S8 pushed anead, releasing animals as fast as possible, and now adding back to back storybooks, rapid fire tournaments, special habitats as fast as they could be produced, and even spinning wheels and new food products to induce spending because they want to wring us dry before everyone finds they can't play the game anymore. Look around, folks, at how may people are having technical problems. They aren't having these issues because they are stupid or have outdated devices. They are having these problems because they play this game and their forests are either growing, or have grown as far as they can. Read the crash threads. I am not techinal enough to understand it all, but we have some very bright, technical players who explain it. I don't want to be forced out of this game. It is my favorite.

Just being hopeful here at the last for me, but how long can I put off starting this storybook? If I wait, in the hope that the crashing and space problems are fixed, how long can I put off starting today's storybook at least? Thanks!

I agrre with u tuffyjkitten, I have 5 planters in a row :(

The updates this time really shock me coz I could never expect it could be that much at once haha, tourney, trio dogs, storybook, all at once... Still have no dog yet *sigh* gonna skip the tourney (the animal looks like a mole to me and I hate moles) and will start the book tomorrow after I can grow at least 50k food (had 10k now, that s sooooo low)

I'm not letting the cat go like my swan prince the previous time :( good luck to u all guys, happy playing breeding and growing food ;)

I've done nothing but plant and harvest since the Swan Prince event. I've got about 212,000 saved, as I have refused to let myself drop below 200,000 in anticipation of another adventure. Very difficult, as I've also been trying to bring a group of animals up to epic (Ogreve's AWESOME advice) for tournaments. I hope I've got enough food saved. I'm thinking I won't be getting the dog trio, but I really want these fire-water animals, do that will be my main focus. I've said it in other threads, I do wish there wasn't do much going on all at once. Not all of us can spend our whole day playing this game.

You watch when it's time to hatch a plantler I won't be able to lol. Okay so trio breeding, flash tournament and storybook, little much don't ya think? I was expecting the flash tournament not the storybook so I went ahead and leveled up several animals depleting my food supply, I'm only at 40,000. Not sure if I will have enough time to raise 270,000 in 10 days, if ogreve is correct. I thought with just the flash tournament going on I'd have plenty of time to rebuild my supply  silly me....

One more thing, I really dislike the final animal, it's definitely the costume, just like the ice cream animals, too cartoonish for me.

Okay gotta go, food to plant, tournament to get to and breeding going on, good luck all and thanks to everyone sharing info, as always very helpful.

You are sooooo right sweetdada, last storybook I had to skip through the 'hatch a fairy ferret' task coz I could not breed a single fairy ferret, instead I bred 2 super rares namely paradise parrot and vinotaur, and some rares. Seriously! THAT ferry ferret that storms everyone's forest all the time!! Lol this game can be ridiculously fun AND frustrating sometimes ;)

There is too much going on at one time. I wish they would stop the twice weekly updates.

I agree. And I don't have a free space for the nature- fire animal so i have to buy a new habitat for it. I still haven't placed any of the Egypt animals because it takes sooo long to expand. I really wish they would decrease the number of runes to expand, or let you ask neighbors for runes like in Dragon story.

I know someone asked this during the last storybook. But I didn't see the answer.

If you have a limit of 35 runes and you are at 30,
Then you win the prize of 15 runes

Do you lose 10 runes or will it show 45 runes?

I'm with many others & am going to start this one a little latter while I work on planting, flash tournament & the service/paw trio. Think I just got the K9 so I'm in good shape there. Now to plant & battle. I'll start this either Sunday or Monday. Thanks so much to all who go before us & share the info!!! Hopefully we won't need crazy food amounts. And of course once agai. I was saving back up to expand to Treent - only needed 2mill more. Think that will end up starting over again:(

I'm with you in that this is the second time I was about to expand to Treent. Last time it was the tales that stopped me. I loved the swan Prince and princess.

However, as much as I do appreciate others' excitement over the new tales and animals, I am not a fan. I'm not a comic book person and the third animal looks really weird to me and like it doesn't belong in my forest. I do have the sidekick and it's ok. The crane I like only because I love origami cranes even though this one is not origami. Lol

So, I've decided to do the tales and probably stop after the crane and not worry too much about it.

Too much going on in real life also so I'll focus on the dog trio breeding and the tournament animal because I love its colors. So far, happily, I've managed to breed the Dalmatian on both accounts. It's so cute!

I do appreciate that they give us a chance to pick and choose from some cool events.

I am on level 40 now and have a lot of rare animals that I've had the luck to breed, but I think my heart is still more with dragon story. I think that's because I initially did this one to gain gold for that game and then decided I like this one as well.

I like having both to alternate. Usually when Dragon story has tales, I love their dragons, for example, the time travel dragon from the last tales is one of my favorites and this time we get three art dragons which, being an artist, I love as well.

I think the two games complement each other well and I would even do a third that was similar LOL

Wishing everyone the best of luck whether you choose to do all the events or some! May all your forests be filled with joy!

Cheers!

It means breed a rock rhino with any animal, it doesn't matter what hatches. If you have 2 rhinos, I recommend breeding them together for a 1hr outcome (a 3rd rhino) or using a Crystal Unicorn to have a shot at the Obsidian Cyclops too. You can also breed a rhino with a frostfang (water) because the common outcome, rainguin, only has a 5hour breed time. I hope this helped :)

OMG Lonepudding this is awesome. Thank you so much. At least now have an idea of how much fiood required
If we go by the last story adventure where we needed to feed the rainguin also .. I would add some extra food to this figure, just in case we have to feed a Plantler or two :p
I think up to chapter 6 it's easy doozy. I think there will be a major twist in the last 4 chapters ( fingers crossed that may not happen).
Best of luck to all!!

Oh and guess what I got with my Rhino and Unicorn.....a Cyclops!! First gem animal I have ever bred and it has to be in the middle of a timed event. That's my luck! And I hope I don't need my Unicorn for the tournament....

Done with Chapter 2. Bred Rock Rhino and Pandaffodil to try for Captain K9. I'm not going to tempt fate by breeding Unicorn with Pyro Pony for Chapter 3. I think I'll go with Pyro Pony and Pandaffodil since longest possible outcome is only 9 hours.

The time between each chapter depends on when you finish the chapter. Each chapter is 24 hours long, starting at midnight PDT. If you finish in 20hrs, you'll have 4 hours until the next chapter unlocks. If it takes you 26hrs to finish the chapter, you won't have to wait. You'll be 2hrs into the next day and the next chapter will unlock in 22hrs. I started rambling there lol, hope it's understandable :)

According to wiki, if my calculations are correct, the feeding requirement to obtain epic wondercat is...138,325 apples. Since it's the grand prize I don't think it will require feeding to obtain it. However I'm sure there's something difficult coming up in the last chapters.

Yeah, obviously the Wonder Woman similarity is the most obvious one (and surely it IS based on that), but whereas the thought of pretty women running around and doing hero(ine) stuff in tight outfits is rather pleasing, the Wondercat also gave me a more shocking "deja vu" moment. A few years ago our youngest daughter was really into My Little Pony and through some of the games she then also came across "The Equestrian Girls". We were both freaked out by them and I tend to call them "The Horror Girls", as they look somewhat zombie like to me (especially the counterpart of Rainbow Dash, being the light blue one for those who are not MLP-initiated :) ).

This is what I mean....:

23773

My main problems with the Wondercat are:
1) The fact that she's wearing an outfit (as opposed to ALL other FFS animals, IIRC).
2) The human-like long hair on the head.
3) The fact that she's standing on two legs, and not on all fours.
These aspects make her too humanoid to really like her in an ANIMAL forest. :P

Anyway, the specs of an ultra rare water-fire animal are too good to pass up on, but I wouldn't mind if TL redid the design....:P
Of course I think I'll buy the new habitat (which will go on one of the prime upper blue plots in due time) and I think she WILL be in that, but if the cat looks too ugly/odd in it, I shall probably move her to a less prominent spot....

Thank goodness our daughter never really liked my little pony. :)
Agree with every issue with the wondercat, even sidekicker with the mask over the eyes is not to my liking. I felt like I was the only one that had an issue when the ice cream animals came out, the ice cream cone on top of the head really bothered me. Still does. It doesn't belong in a forest, nor do animals with costumes on. TL surely can't be running out of great ideas for animals, maybe they should really check out the suggestion thread, I've seen some very good ideas from forum members, that if done right would be beautiful in a forest.
I bought the new habitat, quickly moved my Patriotter to the new home, also put sidekicker in it. I do believe sidekicker will eventually be moved to a nature habitat, once I decide to purge my forest and get rid of my duplicate animals.

Yeah the mask of the Sidekicker and the star on the Patriotter's chest did indeed slightly bother me too but are still o.k. There are a few more of these minor thingies which I don't really mind too much, like the Music antlers of the Melodeer and music notes on the side of the Lullabison, etc. I don't mind these tiny things really, but I do fully agree on the Icrecream remark: I never liked that icecone on the head of the Vanillamb either. I thought I was the only one to think that. :)

Anyway, I do hope TL doesn't release other animals with the Humanoid characteristics of the Wondercat... :O

I really like all of the animals. At first I wasn't sure how I felt about them (going from ballet/fairy tale to comics was quite a shift) but they've really grown on me. I waited 24 hours to hatch the Sidekicker in case I had a hole in the Breeding Time for the Station Dalmation. Still no Station Dalmation and I only saved 1 hour between breeding an Armordillo and a Rampage. The Sidekicker will hatch just before bedtime, so I will feed it 15 times and send it to the Evolution Flower. I will be interested to see if moving the Rampage to the nest will give me credit for Breeding a Rock Rhino since I did use it to breed the Rampage. It doesn't really matter since I plan to use the Rock Rhino for my 16th Station Dalmatian breeding attempt. So I should complete Chapter 2 in time to wait for Chapter 3 even though I waited a full 24 hours before completing Chapter 1 and starting to hatch the Sidekicker.

From what 19sparkles96 has posted so far, the most difficult task in the first 8 Chapters is to hatch an Armadillo in Chapter 7 Act 2. Since I have bred at least 1 and more than half the time 2 Armordillos in each of the last 8 days, it shouldn't be that hard. :) I also don't see any mining tasks yet. Looks like I am going to have to expand before getting the 15 Realm Runes at the end of Chapter 5, so I don't exceed my limit.

Expansions don't do me much good right now. I temporarily placed a small Fire habitat to hold the Sidekicker until the upgrade of another small Fire habitat is complete as the permanent home of the Sidekicker. I didn't realize it would take 9 hours to upgrade to a Big Fire Field. When the upgrade is complete, I will sell the small Fire Field habitat since it is my 66th habitat. Fortunately, I have left 24 animals in storage, so I still have a few duplicates to play with. I have a large stash of food since I can't seem to breed any new animals that need to be fed and I am getting tight on space, so nothing leaves my storage unless I need it for a specific purpose.

It doesn't look like I will need to change my normal gameplay to complete the first few Chapters other than free up my nest for the 6 hours it took to hatch the Sidekicker. Tomorrow, I might switch to breeding for the Captain K9 until I need to breed another Armordillo. If I stick with breeding the Station Dalmatian and I haven't bred one in another 4 days, I will be extremely disappointed. Other than that, I just need to plant a few different crops and use time in my Evolution Flower until it is time to hatch the Super Heron after Chapter 6 is completed.

Good luck to everyone and I hope your crops are bountiful and your food requirements met.

I'm with you on this ogreve. So I will only raise her to level 3 coz her baby form looks at least not so humanoid. Just like a random cat who happens to stand on her feet lol. I've done this with other animals as well, that I raise them to the level they look the best at ;) superficial me but some of them are wonderful being babies or juveniles but epic...urrgghh

I really like Sidekicker and Super Heron but not the cat so much. I too think it's too humanoid looking for animal forest.

The tasks are looking much better than last time so far. Soon we'll find out what is demanded in the last two chapters. What I dislike most about these events is that we are forced to feed certain animals and there's not much chance to raise any other animals in between unless you have a very big food reserve. I'm tempted to just get the first two animals and then concentrate on feeding the animals I want to feed.

I'm with you on this Sandybelle, I especially dislike having to breed and feed an animal I already have leveled to where I want it. As of right now I'm still about 60,000 short on food for this event, as I had just fed animals up that I wanted not knowing that we would have another story book so soon. I think it's doable, I'll be able to raise that much food but I'd much rather feed animals of my choosing, I currently have Ra and the St Bernard sitting at level 1 because I don't want to use any food except what is required. So after the story book I will again have to rebuild my food supply to feed the ones I want to level up. Just thank goodness the wondercat is the final prize and we don't have to feed her too. Good luck to you and everyone else!

I'm with you guys, I'm just not sure I really like the Wondercat at all. It's just too...human. I may still go for it if I can because it'll probably be useful in tournaments. Though when I'll have time to feed it is a good question. I do LOVE the Heron though, and I think it's epic form looks lovely! Plus I don't have any water/fire animals yet! So far the chapters seem shorter and I haven't seen any need to do anything with runes yet. All the feeding is still going to add up though, so we'll see what the last couple chapters hold.

I have completed the first two Chapters and I am waiting for a free nest to start Chapter 3. I have plenty of food and coin and 13 bombs for the mine. So I don?t need to worry about that. I am still trying to get all of the Service Trio after failing 16 times so far to try for the Station Dalmation. Following is my Plan of action for the next few Chapters. I hope this gives everyone things to think about.

Chapter 3
Act 1: Breed Pyro Pony & another animal - I plan to breed a Pyro Pony and Rock Rhino as my 17th attempt for a Station Dalmation. This should be completed in about 1/2 hours.

Act 2: Harvest 7 8 Adventurnips - I have 6 crops ready to harvest in 1.5 hours. When that is complete, I will plant Charm Cherries on 6 of the farms and plant Adventurnips on the remaining 2. It will take another 3 hours from that point to harvest them so I should finish this Act in 4.5 hours.

Act 3: Raise Sidekicker to Level 5 - I already have the Sidekicker at level 4 since I evolved it last night so feeding it will take about a minute. This will complete Chapter 3 and I should have about 8 hours to wait for Chapter 4 to start.

Chapter 4
Act 1: Hatch a Plantlers - I will breed an Earth/Nature combo with my Crystal Unicorn in hopes of breeding a Gem hybrid or a Captain K9 . A Plantlers is the most likely fail. I believe that I can afford up to 3.5 days completing this Act and still have enough time to get to Chapter 7 on time.

Act 2: Feed Sidekicker 20x - Feeding the Sidekicker 20x will take it from level 4 to level 8 so no evolutions are required. I have the food so this Act will not take any time. Since the next Chapter requires it to be at level 10, I will feed it through level 9 and put it into the Evolution Flower.

Chapter 5
Act 1: Collect 6 Animite from hatching - This requires hatching an egg that has at least a 6 hour breed time. I have nothing, special to do, as I am always breeding something. If I happen to breed a Gem hybrid, then I can pull something out of storage to meet this or buy a Rock Rhino and a Frostfang egg to meet this requirement if I need a shorter time.

Act 2: Raise Sidekicker to level 10 - When I get to this point, I should already have the Sidekicker at Level 10 so it will complete immediately. When I can, I will raise the Sidekicker to level 15 which will require an evolution step. This will complete Chapter 5.

Chapter 6
Act 1: Harvest Powerup Peaches - I plan to plat 4 crops of Powerup Peaches before going to bed the night before the start of Chapter 6 so when I start this Act, I can harvest the crops and finish it almost immediately.

Act 2: Collect Animite from Harvesting 60x - The two farms that don?t have Power Peaches, I will have planted Nexus Nuts (since that is my normal overnight crop). Assuming I harvest them in the correct order, I will then start off with 10 Animite. The 50 remaining means I need to have my 6 farms busy for eight hours and another hour past that for two. I always keep my farms busy, so I will continue to plant normally throughout the day. I expect that this Act and the Chapter will be completed well before the start time of the next Chapter. This will give me the Super Heron which I will hatch at the first opportunity (7 hours to hatch). After hatching the Super Heron, I will return to breeding an Earth/Fire combination that can give me an Armordillo. If I am lucky, I will be breeding for a Saintly Bernard at this point.

Chapter 7
Act 1: Feed Super Heron 15 times - Assuming I have hatched the Super Heron before getting to this point, I will feed it 15 times completing the Act and send it to the Evolution Flower.

Act 2: Hatch an Armordillo - This seems to be the place in the Adventure where things can go wrong. It should be easy enough to do; I have bred at least one per day for the past 10 days trying for the Station Dalmation. However, if we miss it two times in a row will put the schedule back a day. To be safe I will try and Earth/Fire combination before starting Chapter 7. I already have a level 4 Armordillo for the feeding step in Chapter 9, so I will sell the Armordillo unless I happen to have a free space for it (not likely).

Chapter 8
Act 1: Raise Sidekicker to level 15 - I expect to have this complete before the Act starts so it will not take any time.

Act2: Feed Super Heron 30x - This will take the Super Heron from level 4 to level10 requiring one evolution.

Act 3: Plant Power Peaches x4 - When my farms are free, I will plant 4 of them with the Power Peaches, completing this Act.

Before starting the next Chapter, I will plant Adventurnips on my 6 farms so they will be ready for the next Chapter.

Chapter 9
Act 1: Harvest Adventurnips x6 - I will harvest the Adventurnips planted the night before so this Act will complete almost immediately.

Act 2: Feed your Armordillo x25 - I kept an Armordillo fail for this purpose. By this time, I should have had an opportunity to raise it to Level 4, so the feeding 25x will raise it to level 9 and not require an evolution step. So this step should be done almost immediately.

Act 3: Collect Vile Animite from harvesting x40 - Since My farms are not clear due to Act 1, I will just continue my normal planting regime. With 6 farms, I can complete this act in 7 hours if I need to.

First attempt to get a Plantlers was unsuccessful: got a Bamboon instead lol. But hey, I don't have one, and it'll complete one of the goals I've had for a long time.

So that makes feeding the Sidekicker and Super Heron to epic plus feeding Armordillo(s) 55 times!

No mining steps though which is a relief.

Thanks a million for those: YAY no mining!!! I'm at 10 bombs now so I would have had enough, but I'm going into the mine ASAP as I need 14 runes for making a new expansion and afterwards I want to buy the special habitat before it's Tuesday morning (as one never knows when the sale exactly ends I want to play that on safe, yet I don't want to compromise my harvesting strategy, but... I'm at 218,026 food now so that will be well enough to complete the tasks (even if I decide to use part of the Armordillo feedings for bringing my current one from 12 to 15).

Oh man, no mining is a relief! That means I don't have to worry quite so much about saving gold for expansions right away and can keep the food coming. I have about 116,000 food (always these happen right after I evolve something to epic. Was Hippogryph this time. XD). So I'll definately need more, but I think I have time to grow enough if I'm careful. Though I'm not going to stress this one as much as the last one since the Wondercat doesn't interest me as much, but I want the Heron at epic anyway, so might as well push forward!

OK now that all steps are known, strategy time is here. I have completed all the steps of day 3, and I have a Plantlers in the den and an Armordillo on the nest. Here goes:

#Global expansion and habitat strategy: I wanted to buy the new habitat and I didn't want to risk missing out on the sale. Having learnt my lesson from the Nightmare sale disaster, this means that I wanted to make sure to buy it WELL early. As I just found out that none of the Storybook acts involve mining, I just mined up to the point where I could make another expansion, I was at 56 runes and needed 14 more. I got those with 6 bombs, which is a good ratio. I then wondered for a moment if I should first expand on the lower green shelf again as that's cheaper and takes 30 hours less to clear the foliage than on the upper blue shelf, but then I would have a blue habitat on a green shelf and I would only postpone the blue shelf expansion somewhat, so instead I bit the bullet, went against the grain, and started the first expansion on the upper blue shelf, which IMO is the coolest shelf of all. I just sold one of my farms and bought the habitat and put it there. The coming few days will see little strain on harvesting and evolving, and then particularly on harvesting (which is why I didn't sell the evolution flower at this time). That way I can house the animals as soon as I have them and still complete the feeding and harvesting tasks at leisure. I directly moved the Sidekicker to the new habitat.

#Specific strategy for days 4-10:

#Day 4: Half an hour after the day 4 acts start an Armordillo finishes hatching. By then I should have the special habitat waiting for it. I shall then put the hatched Armordillo in it and keep it at level 1 until the Armordillo feeding steps have been completed (days later). Right after that I can move the Plantlers to the nest which hopefully counts as "hatching a Plantlers" (if not, 9 hours later that step completes). As soon as act 2 becomes active, I shall feed the Sidekicker and I shall from thence bring it up to epic level directly (so I can clear those evolution steps early and have the flower empty, so it can be sold temporarily if I need to buy some different habitat or so in the days to come.

#Day 5: Getting "6 animite from hatching should be easy: I'm full-blooded going for these frigging Service dogs, so I'm bound to get at least 9 (Plantler fail) or 12 (Armordillo fail). The second act of raising the Sidekicker should have been met already before that time.

#Day 6: On day 5 still, some 19.5 hours before the start of day 6 on two farms I shall plant Rune Prunes, some 2 hours before going to bed I shall temporarily sell the evolution flower and buy a Grand farm back. Right before going to sleep on the 4 Grand Farms I shall plant Powerup Peaches. This planning ahead should see me harvest the 4 Peaches right at the start of day 6 and half an hour later the Rune Prunes will be done. I want to leave that half hour gap so as to not accidentally in my enthusiasm harvest the Rune Prunes too early. At that time I should then have 40 of the animite already. The other 20 will be gotten by harvesting Charm Cherries on all farms for 4 hours. The Heron will go into the new habitat but shall not yet be fed. Somewhere before this time the "blue expansion" should be completely done and cleared of foliage, so the new habitat can be moved there and I can once again be back to normal business with 6 farms and the flower.

#Day 7: On day 6 still, some 12 hours before the beginning of day 7, I shall breed earth-fire. Something tells me I should have little trouble breeding an Armordillo. :S As soon as day 7 commences I'll feed the Heron and shall put it in the flower for its first evolution. Hopefully I can then directly take care off the "hatch an Armordillo" step. If not, I'll have to improvise with further breedings. The skip cost is 18 gems; I'd rather use those for speeding breedings a bit. This part will be the most difficult to plan steps. This Armordillo will be kept temporarily in the new habitat (which should then have 2 baby Armordillos).

#Day 8: The Sidekicker should long since be epic by that time, so act 1 should directly be done. Right after it I shall start bringing the Heron to epic level, requiring two evolutions. After that 4x (or 6x Powerup Peaches will be planted).

#Day 9: On day 8 the overnight farm growing will be 6x Adventurnips. These can be harvested directly after day 9 starts. After it, the two baby Armordillos will share the 35 feedings so I can directly take care of it. Some kinds of growings (probably back-to-back Charm Cherries) will then have to amount to the 40 vile animite, after which an Armordillo breeding of some sorts can be initiated with my level 12 specimen. This step shows that having multiple Armordillos CAN actually amount to something good. ;)
One of the Armordillos can then be evolved 1 level.

#Day 10: On day 9 the overnight growing can be Powerup peaches on all farms. As soon as day 10 starts, I can make a Fairy Ferret breeding of some kind of convenient sort (it'll give me a stab at the Dalmatian and the K9 at the same time if I pair it with earth). Then, feed the two smallest Armordillos their total of 30 feedings. The Heron should at that time already be epic, so act 3 should be done instantly. Then harvest the first six Powerup Peaches, plant at least 2 more, harvest them and done!

Yes, you'll need to breed a second one. Plain old pandaffodil x rock rhino should work.

I forgot to breed for a plantler for tomorrow's chapter, instead I tried for an extra armordillo needed for chapter 7 and 9 and ended up getting a 19hour rubble rooster! Not complaining, but the timing could've been better! I'm hoping this doesn't set me behind too much :(

Thank you so much for outlining your strategy. It will help a lot of us out here to plan and not lose out on the grand prize.
I must say you have really given this a whole lot of thought.
A very well explained strategy.
Though this time round the adventure is a little easier than before , I also see some hurdles which need to be overcome . Your advance planning has given me insight as to where I can get stuck .
1. One is the breeding and feeding armordillos. I think I will have to at least have 2 baby armordillos so as to cut the required food down.
2. I will also need to expand at least two plots so as to house the new habitat . So now my expansion to Treent will have to wait until after I finish my story book event.
3. I am glad that there is no mining task this time round ( I had to skip it last time) . So I too can whole heartedly go mining and expand .

Thank you once again. :)

@Ogreve: WOW! It seems like you will leave nothing to Chance!:D

I will pursue my own strategy:

As I said before, I will not be able to get all the food which would be necessary to finish this storybook adventure. But I am not really sad about that because I do not like the Wild Wondercat anyway. I think she is most ugliest Animal I have seen until now and so I won't miss her in my Forest. ;)

So I have decided to go through chapter 1 - 6 because I do like the Super Heron and imo it Looks not to difficult to get there. I will also buy the new Habitat because it looks great and it can be a home for three elements which is very good.

I won't go further than chapter 6 because then it is starting to get more difficult and I would have to spend too much of my food I have planted the last days. I will rather follow my plan to feed all my animals at least up to Level 7 and keep on building my army of Super and Ultra Rares for the tournaments and saving coins for finally getting the Treent.

I wish all of you good luck! :)

I just got my food back to 150k from the last story and now I think need over 300k food to complete this and trying for service dogs. This story is ridiculously hard to do and really quite unfair after just completing one.

Finished with chapter 1 now but still haven't decided how to play this... I'm very tempted to not go for the Wondercat. I already have a super rare Patriotter at level 15 and this Storybook will give me a lovely super rare heron. Not so sure it's the best allocation of resources to get that to epic as well to get an ultra rare of the same element combo that will likely not be leveled up for ages. Not to mention wasting even more food on Armordillos when I could level up my Treent or Swan Prince...

Hi,

Fortunately matters are not quite that bad: yes, we do need to bring TWO animals to epic level, but fortunately they don't require the ridiculously high "ultra rare feeding" amounts! Someone calculated the total amount of required food in an earlier post (it can also easily be found at the Wikia). The total amount of food is somewhere around 140K I believe, and.... this time round with it being a 10 day event, you effectively have an additional 3 days to gather most of it. :)
Apart from that, there are Armordillos to be fed. If you have space for keeping 1, 2 or 3 baby Armordillos, that can be done very cheaply.
Sooooo.... your 150K food bank should be (close to) sufficient to see you through it!
Good luck!

@31aug2002 and @Allixiandra:

You're welcome!
It actually helps me myself too when I write down the steps, as I then have a "quick reference" chart for each day and that way I'm less likely to forget doing something specific around a particular time. :)

By now I can also confirm that moving an animal from the den to the nest also counts as "hatching", which is good, because that saves a lot of time for those steps.

Then on a general note: I actually like the Storybooks very much and I think this installment is a very easy one (once one knows the steps in advance, that is!!!), it doesn't really conflict with my Service Dogs From Hell breeding attempts either. It's funny, in the Storybook with relative ease and a bit of planning in the course of 10 days time 1 Rare, 1 very nice Super Rare and one very useful Ultra Rare can be obtained, along with other useful goodies (food, gems and particularly the 15 realm runes), whereas the 3-weeks Trio disaster is nothing but a very frustrating uphill struggle for getting even a SINGLE "normal rare", all to no avail.
I don't know why, but the trios so far have always been very hard on me. With the Cosmic one too it wasn't until some 5 days before the end that I got the first animal. By some miracle the others then finally came quickly afterwards and it was one of maybe 2-3 times since starting FFS that I actually got one animal on the very first attempt, being the Caturn! The music trio was worse as I never got the Melodeer.
The Service dogs don't start out any better: combined, I now have 23 attempts in at the first two of them and still nothing....
I'll take these Storybooks + coinciding flash tournaments ANYTIME over the trio breeding. :S

Yes, that should indeed be the case, and if not, I'm in trouble too, as mine is 2 hours away from being epic. ;)
For the previous Storybook indeed this worked fine, as long as you take care not to evolve it too far before the steps that say "feed a ... XXX times" are done. All of the "raise a ... to level YYY" steps can indeed be done in advance. You may run into the situation when such a "raise a ..." step doesn't directly register as being completed. In that case, force-close the app and open it again and it should register...

Looks like I will be starting Chapter 4 a day late. My first try for the Plantlers/Captain K9 resulted in a 14 hour timer and it won't leave the nest for another 20 hours unless I speed it up. I have all the current breedable Earth/Nature animals, so it isn't anything I need. I may speed a little if there is a big gap between the 14 hour timer and my next try but other than that I will wait. The next three Chapters seem to be designed in a way that allows you to catch up easily if you fall behind.

The only issue I can see may be in arranging time in the Evolution Flower if I fall too far behind and by some change in fate I actually breed the Service animals. I don't see an overriding need to evolve the first until I get the second of the trio. It would be a nice problem to have.

Good Luck to all. I think the key to this adventure is patience.

I was supposed to be in trouble at chapter 4 because I'd already gotten my side kicker to epic. Thankfully I had over 108,000 food saved so I was able to feed him to level 13 to finish that part. I also thankfully had a planters sitting in the den waiting. Now I'll stock up on food and not assume what's coming and take my time.

The game creators would make it a lot easier to complete these events in FFS if they would allow us to purchase a second nest as they do in DS! Especially as they always seem to have more than one event at a time!!

To all who are still to start their adventure or have started today please keep this in mind
1. DO NOT raise your sidekicker to epic in the beginning. You have to raise it lvl 5 and then feed it 20 times. If you raise it to epic in the beginning you will not be able to feed it and then have to spend 15 gems to skip the step .
2. Hatch your Plantler , harvest you food which ever is required by the act when it asks you to, NOT IN ADVANCE . It has All been explained on the 1st page of this thread by LonePudding . Then you will not be in trouble. One can grow the required food in advance but harvest when asked.

My Sidekicker in already at Level 15 so i can't feed it anymore.... and I am not able to get through chapter 4.
I thought it wouldn't be a problem if I raise it right at the beginning, but now i see it definitely was no good choice...
I also don't have any gems left at the moment so i am in quite a difficult situation...
I am stuck right in the middle of this storybook adventure because i was a little to early....
Would be nice if someone coud help me :/

I'm afraid you'll have no other choice than to pay the 15 gem skip price. It's not a very high price and... it will allow you to continue with the rest of the Storybook, which will get you good stuff and good animals. After day 9 you'll get 15 gems as a reward, so that would compensate for the 15 ones that are spent now. I can strongly recommend you to do it like that.

Note: this is the only step you'd have to skip. The remainder of the Sidekick steps are for "raising" it instead of "feeding" it, which can perfectly well be done in advance, like you (and I too now) did.

Update:
I didn't read your initial post correctly and missed the part about you having no gems left. Sorry for that! It's good to see that Elsa reached out a hand to you!
Good luck on continuing with the storybook!

My first try for the Plantlers turned out to be a 14 hr Grassquatch (my first Super Rare in 3 weeks) that I don't need. My second try was the Plantlers required (still no Service trio animals). I would normally speed up some of the 5 hour difference in time between the two but the Plantlers won't be ready until after I go to bed tonight and if I leave things alone, the Grassquatch will be just about ready to hatch when I wake up in the morning, so I might save my gems and let things run their course normally.

I assume I will get credit for hatching the Plantlers when I move it to the nest like the last adventure. If that is true, then first thing in the morning I can complete Chapter 4/Act1. My Sidekicker is at level 5, so I can feed it 20 times without going through an evolution step. I already have the food necessary so feeding it will not take much time. This will complete Act 2 as well as Chapter 5. Since I will be past the time to start Chapter 5, I should be able to start that immediately.

When I start Chapter 5 the Plantlers will still have about 9 hours left to hatch. While waiting, I will put the Sidekicker into the Evolution Flower to raise it to level 10, that will take 4 hours. Chapter 5 Act 1 is to complete 6 hours of hatching. When the Plantlers is done hatching, I will complete Act 1. By this time, the Sidekicker will ready in the Evolution Flower and I can release it back to its habitat and complete Act 2 as well as Chapter 5. I will then need to wait about 12 hours before I can start Chapter 6 . This puts me back on schedule.

I expanded last night to one of my 7 remaining expansion plots (I am temporarily maxed out on habitats) so that I have the space for the 15 Realm Runes prize for Chapter 5. So even though I am behind schedule right now, by this time tomorrow, I will waiting for Chapter 6 to begin. Nothing more to do today other than normal crop harvesting.

I don't see any problem staying on schedule until we need to breed the Armordillo in Chapter 7. I don't see that as much of a problem but it is a factor that I cannot control. As you can see, the Adventure is set up in such a way that you can easily catch up if you fall behind for some reason. Patience is the key to this Adventure (and a good food stock), Good Luck.

I'm not sure if I'll go further than the Super Heron. I don't like how the wild wonder cat looks and just don't want to use all my food on an unneeded armordillo.

I'm really annoyed at how close all these events are to each other. There's way too much going on at once! Storm8 needs to cool it with the new content and focus on fixing issues, like expansion, and glitches!

One thing to consider, if you are breeding for the Service trio and you have the room for some spare animals, you can keep the Armordillo fails until you reach the point to feed an Armordillo. I doesn't cost much food to raise an Armordillo from level 1 through level 3 (65 Apples). Then you can decide at that point if it's worth continuing.

So I was already behind in Chapter 4 because I bred a 19hour Rubble Rooster instead of getting a planter ready to hatch. When it's finally time to try for a planter, I use Unicorn x Grassquatch and get a 45 hour timer! Bad timing! To those other people who it happened too, (I think it happened to tuffyjkitten?) do you still think you'll have enough time to finish without speeding anything?

So happy for you LonePudding! Sorry about the bad timing. I myself would be worried that I would get to far behind and would end up speeding, I don't have the patience for a 45 hour timer to begin with. Lol. But there are much better planners on here that should be able to tell you if you can make it with waiting it out.

You'll make it, just think how awesome it will be to have a cyclops or emerald dragon! Just have everything that you can lined up ahead of time, it will be rough I'm sure but you can do it. :)
I personally am raising an army of armadillos, well 3, I bought a fire habitat and plan to have 3 armadillos ready to feed, plus the 4th that I will have to breed later. I'm still short on food needed for sidekicker and super herone (about 17,000) and it will take a lot less food to feed my army than to feed a new one all the times required.
I have several animals sitting at level 1 just waiting for the storybook to be over so I will feed them.

What are the levels for evolution?
I think between
3-4
14-15
and is there 1 or 2 more? and what levels?

Thanks!

I'm hoping it's an Emerald Dragon, since I already have a cyclops, but I'll keep anything, not really a shortage of habitats here quite yet. I've just set out my plan, let's just say, my phone alarm will be going off like crazy! I will have a fire habitat with only 2 baby armordillos, hopefully that doesn't take too much food. I've only just reached the 100,000 mark! I think from now on, only recommended fighters will get fed in my forest, the rush for food in these storybook events is too much stress for me lol

Congratulations, I was trying the same thing but no gem hybrid. You can skip hatching the Plantlers for 10 gems and you don't need the Plantlers for anything else. I need to calculate it out but I believe it is possible to finish in time without spending any gems but you would not have any room for error in breeding the Plantler or the Armordillo in Chapter 7.

Thanks, I have about 5 gems so I can only do a very little bit of speeding somewhere along the line if it's needed. For the rest of the breeding tasks, I have noted to use the plain single element combos. I'll need to get both the armordillo and the plantler on the first try, otherwise I may miss out on the Wild Cat by a few acts! I hope its going smoother for you!

I only hatched it today, when it said to do so. It said you completed act 1. So I checked my next step feed sidekick 20 times, well I did not see don't go ahead and feed, so mine is at level 10. I started feeding it more anyway, hoping it would work, then checked to see how many more times and now its says hatch a plantler still on act 1...

Did you hatch the Plantlers when the Storybook screen said Hatch a Planters? You cannot hatch an animal early.

What happens if you fail to do the acts each day, if i finish it a day late, will the next day I should be on open right away?

Here's a breakdown of the food needed for the storybook:

SideKicker and Armordillo both have 4 hour evolution
Super Heron has 6 hour evolution

VERY IMPORTANT:
There is a difference between FEED and EVOLVE
DO NOT Feed the animals until it says feed the animal
If it says Evolve you can usually do this ahead of time. If it doesn't regiester that it has evolved try shuting down your device. I usually have it set up so I just have to click once (to feed last time or on evolution flower) to complete step.

2.2. Feed Sidekicker 15 times. (Skip: 3 Gem) 130 level 1-3 evo to level 4
PRIZE 8000 apples........................................-8000
3.3. Raise Sidekicker to level 5. (Skip: 5 Gem) 200 level 4
4.2. Feed Sidekicker 20 times (Skip: 15 Gem) 4400 level 5-8
5.2. Raise Sidekicker to level 10 (Skip: 12 Gem) 2800 level 9 evo to level 10
7.1- Feed your Super Heron x15 skip 20 gems 260 level 1-3
PRIZE 10,000 apples ................................ -10,000
8.1-Raise Sidekicker to level 15 (skip 78 gems) 36,800 level 10-14 evo to level 15
8.2-Feed Super Heron 30 times (skip 10 gems) 16,400 level 4-9 evo to level 10
9.2- Feed Armordillo 25 times (skip 35 gems) 415 level 1-5 will need to evo between level 3-4
10.2- Feed Armordillo 30 times (skip 35 gems) 8900 level 6-11 will need to evo between level 9-10
10.3- Raise Super Heron to Level 15 (skip 239 gems) 80,000 level 10-14 + evo

total 132,305

Feel free to ck my math.

If you have several baby Armordillos you can save on food and evolution time.

Last week was plantlers plantlers and more plantlers
I am in the same boat as you. My 1st attempt is a grassquatch , ( I already have 2)or a hedgehog would be a good fail.

you can complete your task by doing the following

1.Evolve the sidekicker to lvl 10. that will take 4 hrs

2. feed it twenty times.. that means from lvl 10 to lvl 14

now this requires a huge amount of food... 36800
i just hope you have that much
If not start planting and collecting

even if you complete the task by end of day or maybe go into next day, you will be able to catch up

The only other way is to spend 15 gems to skip the task.

Well now this is too much . When I need the plantlers to appear in my den and nest,... They have just vanished. I have got my 2nd 14hr timer in my quest to get the Plantler. That means my next attempt will have to be tomorrow morning or I have to do some speeding up.
This changes my strategy totally. Now to complete the task in time I either spend gems to speed up or skip.
Will have to see where I can do it with not too much of a dent into my gem stash.
I want to buy the new habitat for the new animals from this event. So trying to limit my gem spend.

My 1st 14 hr was another grassquatch. I hope this one is a hedgehog.

I can confirm that act 5.2 instantly registered as completed for my pre-epiced Sidekicker.
I got my 6 (well, 9 really) Animite by moving yet another Plantlers to the nest. I decided to switch back to earth-nature and to start "harvesting" Armordillo fails until I'd be out of space to store them. For tomorrow's tasks I don't need any Armordillo yet and at present I have 1 level 12 specimen and 1 baby. Now, putting in the straight earth-fire gave me my 3rd Rooster since starting breeding for the Trio from Hell. :S So far I only kept the first rooster, the second one was snuffed. This third one will be kept for now until something better comes along (presently there's still some vacancy in the new habitat). There will be a 10 hours gap after I hatch the Plantlers, and the Rooster will finish breeding when it's 2 a.m. At this moment I've completely had it with the Trio fails (for BOTH basic animals that is), so I think that instead of leaving the nest empty until midnight and then speeding the remaining two hours of Rooster breeding away and putting in yet another trio fail, I may choose to hatch one of the six animals that I have in my Storage. I'm not sure yet. I'll check the hatching times of those animals that I have and shall see whether it's smart to do so now, or not.
Also, once the Rooster egg goes to the nest, I'll stick with straight earth-fire breedings until I have some 1-2 more Armordillos to make the hatching and feeding steps of those as cheap and quick as possible. As for breeding after that, I'll probably call it a day with straight attempts at the base Trio Hellhounds and shall stick to 4-elements at them. At any rate it shall feel more productive than the 26 (encounting...) fails at these Hellhounds have felt. We're "only" halfway into these animals and I don't care anymore to sit out the rest with these straight fails. Enough is enough. Fortunately one of the Storybook steps is to make a breeding with a Fairy Ferret. That already "forces" me to stray from the straight attempts anyway. A welcome change!

As for the Storybook steps: I'm not complaining about any of them. All of them should be well doable and it would be just too much irony if I know all of a sudden wouldn't be able to breed an Armordillo for (or before) step 7.2 anymore.
To TL: thanks for this early Storybook! It's a very welcome reprieve from breeding for the Hellhounds and I really appreciate the animals and also the 15 realm runes (and later the 15 gems)! At previous times people have asked for being able to earn realm runes through other means than mining alone and it's nice to feel that TL may have listened to that. Very cool! Thanks TL! :)

Not too sure about the very modern turn towards human culture in recent FFS animal design.

I can't get the idea of a cheesy Wonder Woman figure to fit in with the other mythical creatures living in the Land Before Dragons. She can jump into her time capsule and head back to the 1980's. I'm definitely not welcoming her into my forest.
The Super Heron is super-cute though, so that's my grand prize in this quest.

I have a ridiculous question.
I'm in the middle of league of extraordinary animals and I'm being asked to collect animite from a hatching. I'm not sure what I'm doing and have never done that before. Are there only certain animals that give Animite?
Thanks so much for your help.

Hi and welcome!
There are no specific animals: you can hatch any egg and meet the criteria. You will get 1 "Animite" per 1 hour hatching time, so if you hatch an egg that has a hatching time of at least 6 hours, the goal will be met. The goal can also be met by (buying and) hatching multiple eggs with a shorter hatching duration (like Rock Rhinos and Frostfangs), that trick can be handy when you have something with a long time in the den and nothing on the nest.

Well the challenge for me on this is due to my crashing issues. I have 2 options currently with this game. Option 1 is to reinstall every time I want to open it (and that took over an hour yesterday since I'm nearly at my data plan limit) and Option 2 is to keep the game open and not do anything else on my iPad. As soon as I close it I need to reinstall to get back in.

So given the fact that my failed attempt at breeding the Rock Rhino gave me a Cyclops, I'm just not playing again until he is off the nest tomorrow. That gets me my animate from hatching. Sidekicker is already evolving to level 10 and I planted the power up pears yesterday. Also luckily bred an Armodillo yesterday. On Wednesday I will need to keep the game open to finish collecting the 60 animate form harvesting and to hatch the Super Heron, and hopefully not closing the game overnight will have it available Thursday morning to do chapter 7 on schedule.

This crashing has definitely altered my view of this game. I lost my very first tournament this past weekend due to it and now I can't even open my game to gift gems to my neighbors on a daily basis. I don't want to stop in the middle of an event but if the problem isn't resolved this will be the last thing I am able to do in this game until it is fixed. I'm not wasting my entire monthly data plan on downloading this game every time I want to open it.

I'm just waiting for my Sidekicker to finish evolving to level 10 and then I'll be done with Chapter 5.

I decided to be extra cautious and start breeding for the Armordillo that needs to be hatched in Chapter 7, Act 2. Got it on my first try, so once the Plantlers egg I have in the nest is ready to hatch (it was a failed attempt at Captain K9), I'll take my Charger egg out of my Storage and place it there. Hatching Charger will complete the Charger goal and net me 10 gems. I might hatch another egg from my Storage before hatching Super Heron (it shouldn't take long to complete Chapter 6). Just need to look at the incubation times for the animals I have in storage.

It'll be a nice little break from Captain K9 attempts.

So, since I just started Sunday, I'm currently waiting for Chapter 4 to start in the morning.

1st a BIG thanks to all who have posted steps for chapters & stragety! Extremely helpful:)

I just hatched the egg from the end of Chapter 2 (bred Rock Rhino with anything). I bred the Rhino with the Fallaby. Figured I may as well take a shot at the Vintaur which I have yet to bred. Happy to report a great fail - I have the super rare Paradise Parrot sitting on my nest now:)

Figured I may as well give a 4 element shot at the Plantler for the next chapter. Sadly this one was a bad fail - bred the K9 with the Twilight Troll. Thought I'd take a chance at the elusive unicorn. Well, no Plantler and no unicorn:( Just a duplicate 10 hr fail (which should be the Bamboon or Planther both of which I already have in my forest). Hopefully I can get the silly Planter on the next attempt:)

I moved my Plantlers to the nest completing Chapter 5 Act 1. I forgot to upgrade my Sidekicker east nightso it is in the Evolution Flower right now. Should Have Cahapter 5 complete in 3 1/2 hours despite being behind over a day yesterday, So I will be waiting about 7 hours for Cahpter 6 to start.

If you fall behind, don't panic. Look at the first post and figure out where you can make up the time.

Well after breeding 3 grasquatches back to back , I finally have a plantler in the den ... Which will go on the nest in the morning and then I can complete my chapter 4 .
I would be able to complete my chapter 5 tomorrow itself.
So in the morning I can go back to raising the armordillo army..
Can you believe it sold off 4-5 armordillos , which I had got trying to breed Dalmatian, before the start of the adventure.
Now I have to breed 1 and feed it too... ... Darn!!! :(

For the purpose of the Adventures, hatch means moving the correct animal from the Breeding Den to the Nest or removing it from the Nest (Sell or put in Habitat). S8 is kind enough to regard either action as hatching.

Thanks for that, I was just going to ask the same question. I hatched one the other day so that I could hopefully have two to cut down on feeding, put the pony and rhino back in and got 14 hours...though maybe, just maybe I'd get the Dalmation. Nope, my second volcamel. Put them back on and got 14 hours again, and another volcamel. Just put them back on for a third attempt, got 12 hours, but now it might be the new animal, the Lambi or whatever it is. I'll know tomorrow, and now I'm glad to know I can put the egg in the nest and leave it there if it is the armadillo, I was worried the goal would only count moving it from the tree to the nest. Thank you!

Edit to add...just so I don't make a stupid mistake, now that I'm on to chapter 6 tomorrow, I can go ahead and feed the Sidekicker all the way to epic since the next step regarding him is to raise him to level 15, correct?

Yes, once you raise the Sidekicker to level 10, there are no more feeding steps for the Sidekicker so you can raise it to 15. Mine is in the Evolution Flower to get to Level 15 right now.

Hmm, the coming of the Lambi, in combination with a long Rooster fail on the nest and a 12 hour timer in the den forces me to think out the breeding step(s) for today; time to write out some possibilities and see what I like best:

First some time-based steps as parameters (written at 10:30 CET):
1-Remaining time until tomorrow's acts: 22.5 hours (i.e. 9:00 CET)
2-Remaining Rooster hatching time: 14 hours (i.e. 00:30 CET)
3-Remaining "12 hour timer" breeding time: 7 hours (i.e. 17:30 CET)
4-Remaining time needed for completing act 6.2 (getting 60 Animite): 7.5 hours (i.e. 18:00 CET)
5-Super Heron hatching time: 7 hours
6-Remaining Spark Shark evolution time in the flower: 13 hours [not relevant now, but used for later when deciding when to evolve it further]

O.k. in some 8 hours time I should have step 4 completed and at that time I should get the Super Heron. At that time, step 3 will also be completed, step 2 will be reduced to 6 remaining hours of Rooster breeding time and step 1 will be reduced to 15 hours remaining until tomorrow's acts. I would like to have the Super Heron hatched around the time that step 1 completes and day 7 starts.

So....
These are the options I'm considering:
1) Sitting out the Rooster hatching time, maybe speeding the last hour so for once I can go to sleep before midnight. Then hatching the Super Heron which will then finish at 7:00 a.m., leaving a 2 hour gap until day 7 starts, which I'll sit out. When day 7 starts, I can feed the Heron and then move the 12 hour egg to the nest. This will almost certainly be an Armordillo, in which case act 7.2 will then be completed.
Gem cost: 0-1 gems.
Advantages: virtually no gem cost and I'm pretty much guaranteed to have met the "hatch an Armordillo" step (it CAN of course also be the Lambi, in which case there's still time for a further 1-2 attempts, but which in the worst case may require speeding a part of it, or in the very worst case at the end skipping the "hatch" step at a cost of 18 gems).
Disadvantages: there will then be a long time that the den is blocked (i.e. 15.5 hours), and that time could be used for an additional earth-fire breeding.

2) When step 2 is met (i.e. when the 12 hour timer is done), speed the remainder of the Rooster's hatching time off the nest (gem cost: 7 gems), then speed-hatching the Super Heron (gem cost: 7 gems), moving the 12 hour timer to the nest (and thence knowing whether it's an Armordillo or a Lambi) and then putting in another earth-fire attempt (aiming for an Armordillo / Lambi / Station Dalmation - depending on what the current 12 hour timer is).
Advantages: 1 additional earth-fire attempt at the limited animals and early knowledge of the outcome of the 12 hour timer, giving more time to adjust the breeding strategy if it happens to be a Lambi.
Disadvantages: higher gem cost (14 in total).

3) Identical to step 2, with the difference that the speeding is not done until 21:00 CET (such that the ending of the 12 hour timer hatching will coincide with the start of day 7's acts).
Advantages: lower gem cost. This would save me 3-4 gems (depending on when exactly I decide to speed) while still having the 1 additional breeding attempt.
Disadvantages: some 3-4 hours of inactive den time (which take away from the total amount of time available to aim for the limited animals).

Hmm, with everything written out, I think I'll opt for option 3: it gives the best chance to put in one more earth-fire attempt and the gem cost is not too bad.

I harvested the 4 Powerup Peaches I planted last night to complete Act 1 of Chapter 6 this morning. I planted Nexus Nuts on the other two farms like I normally do at night. I harvested these after completing Act 1 and collected my first 10 Animite for Act 2. I will continue my normal farming schedule for the rest of the day and I should finish Act 2 in a few hours.

Completing Chapter 6 will earn me the Super Heron. The Lambi I bred yesterday will hatch in about 5 hours and I have another 12 hour timer in the Breeding Den. When the Lambi hatches, I will put the Super Heron in the nest to hatch, which should complete about 9:00 PM my time. I will then move the 12 hour timer in my Breeding Den to the nest. If it’s an Armordillo, then I will be set for Chapter 7. Since I am trying for the Station Dalmation, I will try another Earth/Fire breed in any case.

The Chapter Start time is in the middle of the night, so I will wait until the morning to start Chapter 7. The only real decision I have to make now is to raise the Super Heron to level 4 overnight or to wait until tomorrow. Act 1 of Chapter 7 is to feed the Super Heron 15 times. Act 2 of Chapter 8 is to feed the Super Heron 30x.

Choice 1) If I raise the Super Heron to level 4 overnight, when I feed it tomorrow 15x, it will be at the end of level 7. That means to feed it 30x in Chapter 8, it will need to go through an evolution cycle of 6 hours, since I will raise it to the end of level 13

Choice 2) If I wait until Chapter 7 to feed the Super Heron, then it will be at the end of level 3 when the feeding is complete. Then I can evolve the Super Heron to level 4 while hatching the Armordillo without feeding it. Then when I hit the Feed Super Heron 30x step in Chapter 8, I can feed it to the end of level 9 and not have to evolve the Super Heron to complete that Act.

I have plenty of food to evolve the Super Heron and I have already evolved the Sidekicker to Level 15. So the only thing I need the Evolution Flower for in this time frame are the Service trio assuming I can breed any. However, there is not much of a reason to evolve the first one at this point until I breed the second of the trio as well. By Chapter 10, we will need to evolve the Super Heron to level 15, so it has to be done at some time.

As of now, I plan to go with choice 2 since it gives me the most flexibility later on. If things work out well, I will have more than a day to determine the best time to evolve the Super Heron to level 10 after feeding it 30x in Chapter 8.

I have saved 2 baby Armordillos so far for the Armordillo feeding steps in Chapters 9 and 10. Depending on space constraints, I may try to save another 1 or 2 as well. It will keep the feeding costs down. The main reason I saved a couple babies is to minimize the number of evolution steps I need to use for feeding the Armordillo. This would be important if I start Chapter 9 late due to problems breeding an Armordillo.

Things are progressing pretty well for the Adventure so far. The first ultra-rare is in sight and I am moving steadily towards the second. Good Luck to everyone.

Act 2 of 2

I am almost ready to delete this game from both of my accounts. I have been trying since day 1 for the Dalmatian and still nothing. I don't see how Storm8 can have a building 3 part Service Salute and then make it so you cannot reasonably breed the first one.
Then I try to do the tournaments and have a level 1 Pyro Pony beat a level 10 Pyro Pony.
I swear I just feel that this game in particular constantly sets us up to fail or spend a lot of money.
If things don't turn around soon, I will be deleting the game come Friday. Its just too bad that I cannot post this on a wall to let my neighbors know.

This was not true for me :( On both by accounts I moved the Planther egg to the nest, waited the what 9 hours to hatch and got no credit!!!! I ended up having to use gems to skip that step which really irritated me.
Did you sell the Plantlers immediately after hatching or did you move the Plantlers to a habitat? I had a problem with the game not registering I had hatched something when I immediately sold the animal. Thankfully the game rolled back, and I was able to get a second chance at hatching the animal. I moved it to a habitat and the game registered that I had hatched it.

I ended up scrapping this plan after Lambi came out yesterday. Current plan (I'm on Chapter 6, Act 2):

1. Hatch Armordillo egg and place in habitat. That way if I run into trouble getting another Armordillo, I can just skip the "Hatch an Armordillo" step but not have to skip feedings. (Complete)

2. Finish collecting animite. (Complete)

3. Hatch Super Heron. (Complete)

4. Move unknown 12 hour egg from breeding garden to the nest (Complete)
~a~ If Armordillo, I'll keep it in the nest until I reach the "Hatch an Armordillo" step for Chapter 7. I'll also sell the Armordillo I hatched earlier. Then I'll do more Earth-Fire breeding attempts for Lambi/Rubble Rooster.
~b~ If Lambi (unlikely), I'll breed Earth-Fire trying for another Armordillo.

EDIT: 12 hour egg was an Armordillo. That makes things easy peasy.

OK I just executed option 3 as described in the above post #203.
The 12 hour timer was an Armordillo, no surprise there. What WAS a surprise though is that for the SECOND time during the trio breeding for the 14 hour Station Dalmation I got THREE bombs when the Armordillo finished breeding. What is going on here?
How odd.... I *NEVER* get 3 bombs from an Armordillo breeding as it has an exact multiple of 6 hours and therefore ALWAYS gives me exactly 2 bombs. However, now during this trio breeding I've already TWICE had a 3 bombs outcome! [see the screenshot of the occurrence that just happened, the screenshot of the other time can be found in the separate thread I started about this]

On the one hand I'm well happy with the extra bombs as expansions come very slowly, on the other hand I'm really puzzled now as to what is happening here. Does lightning strike twice?! Really, what is up here???

Has anyone else also experienced this?

And then there's what someone else reported the other day: how a 14 hour earth-fire timer was changed into a 12 hour Armordillo when it was moved to the nest! Has anyone else experienced that? That one at least hasn't happened to me, but I would get very suspicious if it did.
What I find decidedly odd is getting 3 bombs from a 12 hour timer which by ALL of the logic as we know it should never happen and should always give exactly 2 bombs, on the other hand, a 14 hour timer perfectly well CAN give 3 bombs. With the two "sync issues" (ahum!) of the Spin to Win feature swapping out two animal wins for 25,000 coins still fresh in mind, and now TWICE this bomb output (surely more 'sync issues') I'm starting to wonder if the "sync issues" are actually "sleight of hand" tricks; swapping desired outcomes out for common fail ones...

I'm very curious to hear if others have also experienced something like this... Anyone?

Well, you could skip the feeding Super Heron step (20 gems) or you could:
1. Hatch Armordillo and place in a habitat.
2. Place Super Heron in nest and hatch it.
3. Do more Earth-Fire breeding for another Armordillo.

If you find you are having a hard time getting another Armordillo, you could skip the "Hatch an Armordillo" step (18 gems) and then use the one you hatched earlier for the feeding steps.

Do you have something currently in your breeding den?

You get Vile Animites from harvesting crops. It's 1 Vile Animite per 1 hour of growth time. So you could plant 5 Mystic Mangoes, and since they take 8 hours to grow, each farm would give you 8 Vile Animite for a total of 40 Vile Animite. There are other combinations you could do as well, that's just an example.

Regarding the quest to have an Armorillo or 2 to hatch and feed. Firstly: BWAHA HA HA HA! I cannot believe how concerned I am! Why oh why didn't I save just one of those little buggers that I hatched while I was trying to get the Dalmatian?!

But seriously, I got the second puppy from the heroes and managed to hatch it and I decided to go for an Armorillo ahead of the task so that I'd have one to feed. Of course the Bambi Lambi came out so instead of placing my Heron on the nest I placed the Armorillo just to be sure that was what it would be. It will save me the evolution time I guess. (My original Armorillo is already at level 15 so I can't feed it anymore.) ATM I have 6.5 hours till the Armorillo hatches and it's only purpose is to be fed since the goal to hatch one doesn't become active until the Heron is fed. There's a little over 9 hours left before I get the task of feeding the Heron.... And there is an Armorillo or a Lambi in the breeding den. So. I guess I'm good since I have 33 hours to go until the Armorillo actually needs to have been hatched and 71 till it must have been fed. And bred. With something short timed.... I already have one that can be bred at that time. That is when I can move on to the task # 8.... I could then work on three animals at once mixing fairy ferret and......someone.

Thanks for listening.

I have now calculated with the feed:

Super Heron 15x feed = 260
-------------- 30x feed = 16.400
LVL 10 - LVL 15 feed = 80.000

and
Armordillo LVL 10 25x feed = 20.000
LVL 1 - LVL 3 = 65 Evolve 4 hours + LVL 4 - LVL 5 = 350 + 65 = 415
2 Armordillo Baby ever 15x feed 65 x 2 = 130

Trying to figure out what to breed my armadillo with when we get to that step. Since the first step the next day is to breed a fairy ferret with something, I'd rather breed the armadillo with something to ensure a short breeding time. What would you suggest? I was leaning towards a frostfang or a the panda. I have nearly all the animals those combos would produce but it seems my longest timer would be 14 hours for the grassquatch which I don't have. I am very sad to hear that there are some of you having lot of problems. For me everything worked great until now. I could not believe it myself but I got the plantler on my first attempt and just now I went through chapter 5 actually without doing anything. I only hatched he plantler and nothing else but the chapter was finished :).
Now I am waiting for chapter 6 which is actually my last one I have planned to do. Well maybe I'll go further and see what happens an how far I will get without spending any gems.

I wish all of you good luck! :)

I think I have my plan finalized now. I'm done with chapter 4 and will still complete chapters 5, 6 and 7 and then stop.

The main reasons for not going all the way to the final prize are:

A) I want to keep Sidekicker as a juvenile. I really love him in this form and the moment I saw him I thought it would be so nice to have a juvenile kangaroo, because the adult Mamaroo hops around way too frantically. I will just skip the step of raising him to level 10 with 12 gems to get Super Heron.

B) I can concentrate on leveling up Treent, Cthulhu and others and still build a food reserve for the next Storybook.

C) I don't like Wild Wondercat all that much and would probably not even hatch it for a long time.

:)

Edit: With that decision made, I have my Lullabison evolving to epic right now. It was only missing a few feedings. Boy, it feels good to see that progress happening after such a long time! :)

Finished the hatch an armadillo step. Believe it or not, I was actually worried that somehow my luck had changed and I bred a limited animal. But nope, another armadillo. All is square in FFS. Lol! I'm sure we all can read between the lines and see much sarcasm. 😁

Hello Super Heron is only after open Chapter 7 to feed. You have Super Heron feed before Chapter 7 open, it not count, and you can skip the step only with gems :D

Yup. Found this out the hard way. My "helper" happily fed the super heron and dropped it in to evolve. I do not have another heron, so I am now on the hook to spend gems. Grrrrrrrrr.......

I have a personal "rule". I will NEVER EVER EVER spend gems in this game if I am "forced" to do so. This, however, was my fault. The fact that the game has these traps and pitfalls built in is exceedingly annoying, but this one is really my fault. Gold traps in DS were one of the deciding facts (along with the fact that I had done everything, had everything and it was just repeating) that tipped me into quitting. This, in FF, is simply another weight on the scale tipping towards "the end". Perhaps I really do not care. I do NOT want an anthropomorphized cat creature in my forest. It is ugly.

Ouch ouch that's not good, the best of luck for the remaining tasks.

Hey, was that the Sidekicker who did that? ;) ;) ;)
O.k., sorry, I couldn't resist that one... :P
The situation is recognisable: some time ago when my "helper" still helped me with the game, she accidentally sold an Eagle Beagle on my secondary account by strafing too fast through the feedings. She somehow managed to hit the "sell" button and in the same strafing movements managed to confirm it. :O
Well, not much you can do... But... not all is lost: this time round that evolution step actually saved you, as after it evolves you can still make the required amount of feeding steps (with the sole difference that they are at a higher individual cost, but that cost would be made anyway if you were/are planning on leveling it up to adult+ level)...

Would it be possible for someone to put in amount of food needed on the OP next to each post?

I know it's been calculated in this thread somewhere, but it would be great if it was written next to each feeding step how much food you'll need as I'm still harvesting away;)

Chapter 7 went as planned. I fed my Super Heron 15 times to complete Act 1, and then I put it in the Evolution Flower to get it to level 4. I moved an Armordillo from the nest to a habitat and completed Act 2 as well as Chapter 7. Now I have to wait 16 hours for Chapter 8 to begin.

For Chapter 8 tomorrow; I have already raised my Sidekicker to level 15 for Act 1 . My Super Heron will be out of the Evolution Flower at level 4 in another hour and is will be ready to feed 30x without requiring an Evolution step. Act 3 only requires Planting 4 crops of Power Peaches. I usually plant Nexus Nuts overnight. When I wake up tomorrow morning, selecting the Storybook icon will complete Act 1. I will feed the Super Heron 30 times to complete Act 2, harvest my Nexus Nuts and plant 4 crops of Power Peaches to complete Act 3 as well as Chapter 8, I figure 5 minutes tops. Then I will need to wait 20+ hours for Chapter 9 to start.

Then, I will put the Super Heron in the Evolution Flower to get it to Level 10 in preparation for Chapter 10. I have 3 level 1 Armordillos ready to be fed for Chapters 9 and 10 after selling my Level 10 Armordillo. I am hoping for smooth sailing to the finish.

Oh I am so pissed!! I waited until my Cyclops was able to be hatched to continue with chapter 5 and the game crashed every time I tried to put him in the habitat and collect the animate! THREE TIMES!! I can't keep downloading this game for every freaking step of the remainder of this quest! :(

Looks like I am done and can no longer play this game. Good luck to everyone else working on finishing this adventure.

Sorry to hear about your problems. Hopefully, S8 will resolve the issues so that you can play again in the future.

Oh dear... What a blunder I have made. My volcamel in the nest was ready, I sold it and had to put the super heron egg on. But instead I clicked on the 12 hr ready in the den and go the armordillo. Now have to wait till morning to put the super heron , which is cooling its heels in storage, on the nest and will have to start my next chapter late. I just hope the next 12 hr in the den is an armordillo which I need for my next act. :( :( :(

So now I will be about 12 hrs behind in my schedule. Hope I will be able to catch up without any gem cost... For speeding...

5hrs to go till I start chapter 8. Im happy that I've made it this far. Last storybook quest was abit frustrating due to running out of bombs to collect runes and I fell so far behind that I completely disregarded it. Thanks to all for all your tips, following them and planning ahead has been a great help. Also I planted nexus nuts religiously just after the last storybook quest, so I have enough food to feed the animals to get past chapters. I really like all the animals, the Super Heron being my 2nd water/fire animal (always a great fighter in tournies) is lovely. Reading through the posts I see some players dont really like the wild Wondercat as its look human but I think it looks fantastic and if my storybook quest goes to plan I hope to get the wondercat in the next few days. Good luck to all :D

I agree Buttercup, but the human element comes from the hair. She looks like a puma and last Storybook I had no food, and it to buy me. This is much better off without mine. This is very good TL, Thank you

Quick question: is this storybook adventure available to android users? I'm trying to find any solution to my iPad crashing so I can finish and there's an android device I could use if it works. I didnt see anything in the first few pages about it and I've always played on an iPad so I'm afraid I never paid attention to parity on this game.

Thanks for any info and may your forests be drowning in more apples than you can use!

help! I have side kicker at level 15 but the chapter is not recognizing the achievement & won't move on to the next step.
I have IPad Air & don't usually have problems. I'll power off/on but if that doesn't work I'll need help.
/////ok that worked -- crisis averted!
