I hope an early loss in round 4 will allow me to finish without the problems I had in the last tournament.

The battle is on with round 12. I grabbed the Swan Princess by mistake for 1 loss and the Swan Prince has contributed 4 more. Glad I decided to give the Swan Prince another try, it won on its fifth try.

Round 15 - The Swan Prince is having another tough round with 6 losses in the round so far. Fell to a losing record for the tournament.

Round 16- My Crystal Unicorn had a tough time as well with 5 losses to the Moleton. I was distracted and grabbed the Swan Prince for the 6th attach and he cam through with a win despite a Weak Dark attack. Pretty ironic. :confused:

Round 17 - My Crystal Unicorn continues to lose with 2 losses to the Thorilla. May need to bench her. The 24th loss already makes this my worst 18 round tournament ever. Melodeer in for the Crystal Unicorn, same result 2 losses. Time to rotate. The Harpy comes through.

Round 18 - Another loss for the Crystal Unicorn. Matripony comes through and defeats the River Runner with a few hours to spare.

Worst 18 round tournament record I have ever had.

Ok, first loss at the halfway point. Hopefully Sobek doesn't give me too much trouble because there are tough opponents ahead.

Reached round 11. I'll be so mad if I'll be stuck on the dragon for a whole day or more again. Should not happen this time with an epic Unicorn. We'll see.

Level 15: I don't want to be stuck on this Kirin the whole day. Five losses so far. Please go away soon, pretty please with a bow on top! Edit: Swan Princess saves the day! The Kirin went down on the seventh try.

Done! So nice to have a tournament go this well after the last horrible ones I had. :) Very happy with this one! Epic Crystal Unicorn was definitely my MVP winning 8 rounds. River Runner has to stay in storage though because of the trio breeding attempts.

Well as promised in a different thread I gave the Gold Lion some more exercise by letting it have shots at rounds 2, 9, 10, 11 and 12. Good 'ole Ember is back with a VENGEANCE! He clearly demonstrated just why he's my number 1 fighter: despite it in theory having lesser odds against several opponents, e.g. against the Emerald Dragon it outperformed e.g. the Swan Prince which is an ultra rare and ought to be "doubly-strong" against the Emerald Dragon. In the 5 matches I let the Gold Lion fight, it whitewashed the opponents: 5 victories vs. 0 losses, and that includes a match against Egypt and against a level 16 Emerald Dragon!
Ember, you're right back in the top selection of my A-team! :)

Notes on round 17:
Day 3 went really well and I reached round 17 nice and early so an early finish would seem to be imminent. Well, nothing is less true! Try as they might, my epic Ancient Sloth and Aurora Pegasus just fail to take the Thorilla down! It's been a LONG time since I was stuck this long on a single round! I'm really disappointed especially that the Sloth can't get past it since it should be DOUBLY strong against the Thorilla!
Living in Europe, time is now quickly running out. It's 22:10 CET now and some 20 minutes ago I started double battling, otherwise there will be no more time left for taking care off the River Runner... To make matters worse, the Sloth and the Pegasus are the only two good matches I have against earth-electric, and unfortunately the Gold Lion would be weak against it, so I don't really dare to use that to see if it can get me out of trouble.
Well then, that Sloth and Pegasus need to get their act together, and really fast at that!

UPDATE: Perhaps writing my frustration over round 17 down helped! Right after that, the Ancient Sloth finally did its thing and beat the Thorilla! She scored an instant victory, and not a moment to soon that was as it was close to midnight (nice coincidence, eh? :) ) CET then and the flash tournaments end when it's 8 a.m. over here.

Hi lee, yes, since it's a tournament prize it'll go into your storage and stay there until you decide to hatch it. If you want the gem prize, you do need to hatch it before the time runs out. Mine will stay in storage until I don't know when...I've no room for it! That is one consolation to tournament prizes when you don't have room, you don't have to hatch them right away since they don't come from breeding.

Good question: I'm not sure if it will lower your chances if you just use the fire attack. I would personally stay away from nature and earth altogether but every element has a chance of scoring a critical hit. I'm stuck there too, tried two ultras so far - no luck. I hope we aren't stuck on it for too long :(

Am stuck at the hydro yak . Nothing seems to work . All my electric animals failed. This 1st time I am facing such resistance in a tournament. Normally I get a win after 3-4 trie... Now have lost to it 8 times in all. Don't have any gem animals... So can't use those. Trying with super rares . All other elements like dark fire have given neutral hits.
As a last ditch am planning to use Egyptian, though it is not recommended.

Compared Hydro Yak all former tournament animals use fire / Electrical and Super Rare. Especially fire and Electrical try, not only 1 attack. For example: Toronado fire / electrical / fire

To those of you who are stuck on a round:

I once spent 1 1/2 days on a round ( it was 3rd from the end) I had 3 days left, so plenty of time to complete the tounament. My best chance was with a Dark and a 2nd element that I didn't have. I went thru all my dark animals twice (even ones where the 2nd element was not recommended), thru in some neutrals just in case and still no critical. :( I was almost ready to give up but tried my Swan Princess one more time and got the critical hit. Some times I think this is like the boss rounds in the Battlegrounds. Where it is an accumulation of hits.
In the last couple of tournaments I have found that I get thru most the rounds fairly easily but have one round where I just have to do many battles.

So if you have the time, Just keep playing. I hope this encourages those of you who are stuck. You can find my results on page one.

In this tournament, I'm almost desperate to Yak-O-Lantern and River Runner, everything I have taken was a neutral attack to defeat Yak-O- Lantern until golden retriever who has managed. The same at River Runner and when I took over as Matripony opponents was that simple despair. It's so much luck involved in fighting because it is difficult to assess with what animal you are victorious.

Am stuck at the hydro yak . Nothing seems to work . All my electric animals failed. This 1st time I am facing such resistance in a tournament. Normally I get a win after 3-4 trie... Now have lost to it 8 times in all. Don't have any gem animals... So can't use those. Trying with super rares . All other elements like dark fire have given neutral hits.
As a last ditch am planning to use Egyptian, though it is not recommended.

If you have a Spring animal try that. I finally beat it with Peony Pony after 4 losses.

Epic Crystal Unicorn was my MVP winning 8 rounds. It was definitely worth it to raise it to level 15.

Finally had an easy flash tournament. I finished last night just before bed. My stand out fighters were Swan Prince and Harpy. Swan Prince does well for me against gem animals, he took down Emerald Dragon and Jade Kirin. Harpy seems to have a high number of "lucky" critical hits, especially against Egypt type animals.

I checked out your forest. I see you have Chilly Goat. Try that one and if it doesn't work, keep trying with Ancient Sloth. Use the nature attack. You can also try Spruce Moose.

I just finished and had a pretty easy tournament up until round 17:

Day 3 went really well and I reached round 17 nice and early so an early finish would seem to be imminent. Well, nothing was less true! Try as they might, my epic Ancient Sloth and Aurora Pegasus just failed to take the Thorilla down! It's been a LONG time since I was stuck this long on a single round (i.e. 7 fails)! I was really disappointed especially that the Sloth couldn't get past it in its first FIVE attempts and then in between there were also TWO failed attempts from the Aurora Pegasus! So much for an early end. It was getting really late so the last two attempts on it were double-battled (at a total cost of 4 gems). In the end the Sloth won, but that was a most unimpressive performance from it! :(

So, the Sloth that works so well for everyone just didn't do any magic for me this tournament (or at best only at a slooooow sloth pace). :S

As promised in a different thread I gave the Gold Lion some more exercise by letting it have shots at rounds 2, 9, 10, 11 and 12. Good 'ole Ember is back with a VENGEANCE! He's a machine! He clearly demonstrated just why he's my number 1 fighter: despite it in theory having lesser odds against several opponents, e.g. against the Emerald Dragon it outperformed e.g. the Swan Prince which is an ultra rare and ought to be "doubly-strong" against the Emerald Dragon. In the 5 matches I let the Gold Lion fight, it completely whitewashed the opponents: that's 5 victories vs. 0 losses, and that includes a match against Egypt and against a level 16 Emerald Dragon!
Ember, you're still my number 1 fighter, and even though I have an epic Swan Prince, you're right back at the top selection of my A-team! :)

After my level 15 Crystal Unicorn lost to the River Runner, I gave my level 15 Matripony a shot and she beat the River Runner to complete the worst 18 round tournament I have had so far. Started off 10-1 but my final record was 18-28, see post # 3 for details.

The 28 losses were as many or more than I had in 11 of the 18 full 30-round tournaments. Coming on the heels of my worst 30 round tournament where I lost 22 times in 1 round, and the fact that I have only bred one new animal since July 17th, it almost makes me think that the game?s RNG is out to get me. At least I won the prize, and I couldn?t afford the nest time to hatch the River Runner if I had won it in time to get the gems.

I am disappointed in the poor performance of my 2 Ultra Rares in the last two tournaments. I was hoping that the Swan Prince would help out in the later rounds. The Swan Prince did score a surprise win in the 16th round when I mistakenly used it against the Moleton after my Crystal Unicorn had lostto it 5 times. Ironically, it seems as the decrease in the number of Ultra Rare opponents in the tournaments has correlated with an increase in the number of losses I have in the tournament.

I'm on a lousy streak, I guess.

Oh well... there's so many animals I'm more interested in obtaining. Getting more choosy as they've started piling up in my storage. I only have 6 more habitats until I reach my limit.

Yes hippogryph and jade Kirin for me as well. Just couldn't beat those two. I am also getting limited on space - I have about 12 expansions left but I'm all full now and not enough ruins to expand yet. Since I've been stockpiling bombs, I haven't been able to expand.

Anyways, got stuck for most of the day on Jade Kirin. I'm pretty bummed since this is the first tournament animal I have missed and it's a real lizard, which I have wanted. Oh well.

Hmm, I thought I came dangerously close, but it sounds like my 17 losses vs. 18 wins (with a total gem cost of 4 gems for double-battling twice) was actually not so bad at all.... What I really liked this time round is that I again mostly used fighters from my original set of "core fighters" and that they did really well (with exception of the Ancient Sloth that did poorly this time round), especially the Gold Lion stepped up again: I used it in 5 rounds (including against the ultra rare Emerald Dragon and the Egypt Sobek) and it won ALL of these rounds on its first attempt. :)

Just for the heck of it I'm tempted to do something for fun: pick the Gold Lion for EACH of the rounds of the next 30-day tournament. As I normally finish the 30 day tournaments with a few days to spare, I may actually do this once and see what the total outcome will be. Should it go really badly around halfway into the tournament I can then still decide to not let the Gold Lion battle ALL rounds. :P

Yes, indeed I did mean 30 rounds instead of days; thanks for the correction. Having a 30 day tournament would sound like a good challenge though, resulting in something gem ultra rare as the tournament prize animal! I'd love to be able to win a Unicorn that way: so much more fun and better doable than having 10,000,000 4-element breeding fails. :P

Either way, I wondered if someone had already tried something like using ONLY one single opponent for ALL rounds of a tournament, just for the heck of it. :)
I agree that I too expect this to go pretty well until the ultra rares (other than Jade Kirin and the Emerald Dragon) pop their heads up, because neither fire nor electric will be strong to them then. The worst opponents would then be the Obsidian Cyclops, the Sapphire Cthulhu and the Pearl Peryton, as those would have strong elemental matches against those of the Gold Lion.

For a flash tournament there's no way I'd want to risk that, as those are tough enough to complete as they are and living in Europe doesn't exactly alleviate that situation. But.... I do normally tend to win the 30 round tournaments with some 2-3 days to spare, so it's much less of a risk to have some fun with one of those tournaments by doing this and seeing if it can then still be won or not. As some kind of "opt out" option I could then always during the course of the tournament decide whether to stick by that all the way until the end (win or lose) or to simply call it a day at some point and fall back to the normal strategy to secure the tournament prize animal. :)

It would be too much to only use commons with "weak" elemental matches against the various opponents, but it should be interesting to see what the super rares of weak elemental matches would achieve then. :)

I think I'll try the "Gold Lion only" approach on the next 30 round tournament, or at least for the start of it, just to see how well that goes. :)

Yes, indeed I did mean 30 rounds instead of days; thanks for the correction. Having a 30 day tournament would sound like a good challenge though, resulting in something gem ultra rare as the tournament prize animal! I'd love to be able to win a Unicorn that way: so much more fun and better doable than having 10,000,000 4-element breeding fails. :P

Either way, I wondered if someone had already tried something like using ONLY one single opponent for ALL rounds of a tournament, just for the heck of it. :)
I agree that I too expect this to go pretty well until the ultra rares (other than Jade Kirin and the Emerald Dragon) pop their heads up, because neither fire nor electric will be strong to them then. The worst opponents would then be the Obsidian Cyclops, the Sapphire Cthulhu and the Pearl Peryton, as those would have strong elemental matches against those of the Gold Lion.

For a flash tournament there's no way I'd want to risk that, as those are tough enough to complete as they are and living in Europe doesn't exactly alleviate that situation. But.... I do normally tend to win the 30 round tournaments with some 2-3 days to spare, so it's much less of a risk to have some fun with one of those tournaments by doing this and seeing if it can then still be won or not. As some kind of "opt out" option I could then always during the course of the tournament decide whether to stick by that all the way until the end (win or lose) or to simply call it a day at some point and fall back to the normal strategy to secure the tournament prize animal. :)

I hope it works out for you. For the first few tournaments my Thunder Mammoth was my favorite fighter. It is only a rare that I raised to Level 14 and it would constantly surprise me with how well it did. I retired the Thunder Mammoth from the battle field after winning a Thorilla in a tournament.

When I try to breed the Rainboa, I got a 16 hour fail. It is the egg of the River Runner after speeding up to the nest.

I wasn't really interested in getting a River Runer, but I'm not going to turn away the one I bred accidentally with Frostfang and Glacial Griffin. 😀

I'm using my crystal unicorn and big bad wolf and I'm getting so many river runners! I have lost count. Sorry, I'm not gloating, this just does not happen for me! Although, of course it would wen it's the rainboa I am after. But I will take this!

I'm on the last round with this guy. He's giving me a little trouble, but I am hoping to defeat him with Plant via a Dove Pegasus. I tried Apollo and Quartz Quetzal (13?) to no avail.
