Hatching an egg

I'm sorry if this exists in another thread, but I searched and couldn't find it.

I got a generic purple egg (not a dragon egg) from my Roost. I already own x2 manticores. Is it really worth the time and resources (not to mention losing one forge for a day) to hatch this egg? Is there a chance I would get something other than a manticore?

Think I'll put something in the Inventory Guide about the 2 eggs from the Roost as it does come up from time to time.
