Round 10: couldn't resist the temptation to test the princess against an ultra rare and broke my winning streak. But she did deplete Emerald Dragon's power bar almost completely so she's a strong fighter.

Seems like I got stuck on the dragon. I'm also stuck in the DS tournament (which for me has been a real BS tournament this time around, lol). I really hope the two aren't related in any way.

On a side note, my Crystal Unicorn has yet to win a single battle for me and I've tried her so far in three different tournaments I think. So I guess you can do just as fine without ultra rares.

Grrr! Emerald Dragon has definitely had a chat with his dragon friends on DS. Seven losses so far. I think it's safe to say I'm back to my usual FFS tourney experience of getting stuck on a single opponent for a whole day.

13 losses to the dragon so far. Even tried Ancient Sloth because, well, it's the Ancient Sloth, but alas, to no avail. Time to go to bed now.

After 17 losses my unicorn came through for me and the dragon finally went down! Woo hoo! Hopefully that takes care of my losses for this tourney.

Five losses and counting to Anubis now. This is by far my worst tournament ever!

Well, it's finally over. I got my shark but not happy at all. Will not do this again! 18 wins and 33 losses. Horrible!

Managed to get by the Level 1s but 2 losses to a level 2!!!! Not Happy :(. A third loss makes it even worse :( :( :confused: Finally beat that Troll on the third try.

Well Round 7 stopped my short win streak, Let's hope that takes care of my early losses. Need to save some for later on.

Another nice little streak until round 12. I am glad to see that a level 18 common proves that the level of an animal is important but I would have preferred to win.

Well that little Hot Dog on round 14 must be a male dog since it is doing what Male dogs do to a tree and my Trent has gone down twice. Hey S8, that would make a cute battle animation.

I am having a really rough time with the Level 20 animals. Twelve losses so far through round 19 with 6 being to Snapdragon ... and on the 7th try, Santa Claws finally defeats the Snapdragon.

I doesn't look like the Spark Shark is going down very easy either. Two losses so far.... and iy goes down on the 3rd try. Tough last few rounds.

The cost depends on your level. For me it's 2500. I hope they fix the timer though!

Phew! Made it, but it was a close call as day 3 was really troublesome; first the Anubis had me fully pinned down and then the Spark Shark just didn't want to go down against the Thorilla, which should have been a doubly strong opponent. It's 23:17 now, so I had to resort to double battling the last 3 rounds....
As the Thorilla just couldn't pull it off, I switched to the Ancient Sloth instead, which got a critical hit on the 3rd strike of its first attempt. Thanks for saving the day! :P

Yes, Anubis is round 15, and I think it's a level 20! :(
I also tried Music and Spring, both Neutral; then took it out with Matripony, but it was just a lucky hit. Valentine is Neutral against Egypt as well. Is anything known to be strong against it yet? :D

It looks like Egypt currently has no weaknesses. It has happened a couple times in the past where a new special element was introduced with no weakness. xMas and Valentine come to mind. When xMas was first introduced it had no weakness even when attacking but since there is no pure xMas, you could always use the second element as your target. When Matripony first appeared as an opponent (pure Valentine) it had no weaknesses either. When Cosmic first appeared as an opponent, its only weakness was another Cosmic animal. It's happened a few many times to be a simple mistake on the part of S8. It seems they have a habit of introducing a new special element with no weakness and then changing the relative strength/weakness of the special elements later on. It drives a lot of us crazy.

When my Level 15 Caturn failed against Anubis, I used my Level 15 Crystal Unicorn to defeat it. Two Neutral hits before a Critical Hit. I figured if I couldn't get an element or level advantage, at least I could get a rarity advantage.

In case it hasn't been reported yet, Shamrock is no longer a good choice against xMas, I tried a Level 15 Harpy against the Level 20 Santa Claws in round 16 and received Weak Attacks.

I finally did after an entire day of just battling it. My Treent on it's umpteenth try. Even though I exhausted some other rares. It's just crazy that the same animal at the same level with same element can't beat it 8x but then on it's 9th it does. What is up with that. Getting ready for round 12 with rhino and not looking forward to Anubis 😰! Not sure if I can win this today but to anyone stuck on that N-A-S-T-Y dragon, just use your strongest element fighter against it and keep firing. Sometimes it's so much chance it seems.

In case this might help someone: I just got to Anubis. My instinct was to go with my best fighter which is Flyerfox 15. First fire hit was critical and Anubis was defeated. Hope this may help. Just went to my second account, and decided to go with my best fighter which is Aurora Pegasus. Same thing happened first hit was Critical and that's all she wrote. Best of luck to all!

Anubis is proving to be a very tough opponent. Too bad I don't have any Valentine animals. Speeding up every half hour now because I only have a few more hours to play. I want to finish this and get that shark!!!

Usually I finish the tournaments where I don't care too much about the prize fairly easily but the ones I really want prove to be almost impossible. This one is no exception. When I started, I decided to get this shark no matter what so I'm willing to sacrifice some gems this time.

1) ice cream / strawbeary level 15: neutral
2) nature/ earth, ancient sloth level 15: neutral ( neither element worked )
3) fire, pyro pony level 15: neutral

Finally beat it with golden lion level 15. Got: neutral with electric, neutral with fire, critical hit with electric.

Still does not seem to react to any element in particular, as all were neutral, seems I just got lucky.

Finally finished this horrendous tournament. I had 18 wins and 33 losses! 33!!! Not happy at all. I need a Swan Prince to lighten up my mood so hopefully that one goes without a hitch tomorrow.

Finished off the Spark Shark on the third try with a Level 15 Harpy. Overall record for this tournament was 18-23 with 13 of the losses coming in the last 3 rounds. See post # 3 for battle details. I only lost 18 times total in the previous two 18 round tournaments. It was also my first tournament with a losing record since the Craguar tournament in early June. There is not enough time to hatch it for the gem reward, so it will stay in storage for the foreseeable future.

Trying to wrap up this tournament, but it's still up in the air at this point. More losses than usual. And considering that Emerald Dragon is usually the hardest gem animal for me to beat, it didn't give me nearly as much trouble as Firefox (yes, you read that right). I had at least 7 losses to that little $#*%. Hot dog wasn't easy either and Anubis was the worst of all. I tried virtually every epic animal I had available. He finally lost to Ancient Sloth, earth in one hit. Now Santa Claws is making me mad with his gloating (licking his paws) every time he beats me. Lol.

Snapdragon refused to go down! I had to use gems to speed a couple rounds and still resigned myself to losing this tournament. But I finally got a critical hit with Gold lion (electric) and miraculously Spark shark went down on the first try (Glacial griffin, earth)... all with only 30 minutes to spare. Phew.

It seems to be raining Crystal Unicorns amongst the forum members but just not in my forest; I'm starting to feel like I'm the only one left who doesn't have one yet. :S
Well, maybe I can breed one with the Swan Princess. I'll certainly keep trying! :P

As for this tournament: I finally finished it, but the Spark Shark had me in serious trouble: 5 losses with my epic Thorilla, which ought to have a perfect elemental match against the shark! Then I switched to the Ancient Sloth and that one did get it on the first attempt (3rd strike, so that battle was a tense one too)! :)

Sorry for those of you who didn't get this one, but if it helps, he looks a little odd and he's just a tiny speck of a thing, hardly even noticeable. ;) I wouldn't have gotten him either if I didn't use about 8 or so gems at the end and then just got very lucky on the last round (after having a horrendous time with both Anubis and Snapdragon).

Anyway, how annoying was it that there wasn't a timer? Sooo annoying. I don't mind spending a gem here and there to speed up, but I definitely do mind if it could have avoided by waiting two minutes. I normally just set a timer but if I'm busy when the timer goes off then of course, I lose track. Plus this time around I already had the timer set to make sure I was constantly growing food. I really hope this is fixed by the time the next tournament rolls around.

Spark shark does not appeal to me at. I did make it through the tournament, fairly easily actually. Didn't have time to post my results but I think those most I was stuck was 3 times. I think I will only hatch him once all eggs are cleared out of storage and I have a very very long gap between breeding and hatching.
