What was with that level 1 Armordillo? It took a strong hit and TWO critical hits to get it down the second time around! Lol

This Present Pheasant is certainly not being pleasant! It's knocked my Patriotter around twice and chased away my unicorn. Hope I can defeat it next time. Edit: Finally! Raised Patriotter to level 13 and it washed that unplesant Pheasant away. :)

On to the Matripony... OK another loss :( or two or 3 ... and Dusky goes down on the first try.

Day 3 is not starting well but I guess I can't expect much when starting with a Level 18 Money Badger. I think 3 losses is enough, time for a win. So is 4, 5, 6 and now 7. That makes 1/3 of my losses on one round.

I knew I would be in trouble when I had 4 straight Critical hits in rounds 13 to 15. It caught up with me in round 16 but four straight losses to a level 10 animal is frustrating. Two 4 loss rounds in the first 16 is not a great tournament. Switched to the Matripony, same result. Five losses to a Level 10 animal, what a bad day. So I decided to deviate from my strategy and Bring in My Crystal Unicorn to win Round 16 and it worked. I hope the rest of the tournament goes better.

It would have been nice for once to get through the level 1s and 2s without a loss. Hopefully, it will bean a cleaner finish. Four losses on round 11 is an unwelcome surprise. I guess my 10-1 start was going a little too well.

Ultra-Rares seem to be a problem if you don't beat them in the first round, so I get another loss.

Moleten started to grow on me, but that tournament sucked so badly and I was not willing to spend an unknown number of gems with how much I kept getting stuck. Also, my goal is to not spend any gems on speeding. Hope this tournament goes better lol

I think my Wi-Fi is acting wonky, so I switched to LTE. Hope that fixes it, and if it does, then thankfully FFS doesn't use up much data.

I think the element combination outweighs the rarity. Since a lot of people use the chart, I would not account for rarity in the chart to keep it simple. Personally, I would not use the Ruby Razorback (not that I have one) against pure Dark, since the only animal that fits the bill is a Skyger which is a common. I am not sure an Ultra-rare is any better versus a common than a Rare or Super Rare. Using an animal that is more Rare than your opponent helps, but I am not sure that being 2 or 3 times more rare helps at all. Just my observations.

This is the first time I've been excited for a tournament in a while! I think the prize is beautiful, I hope you fly through this and congrats on your new Pearl Peryton too!

I had already tried ancient sloth one and glacial griffin three times, before I tried my Grassquatch which the second hit was critical. I hope that's just me getting all the losses out of the way! It's already midnight in England, but I think I'll stay up for a bit to catch up.

Ugh! Each time I feel I am clever enough to do a tourney by myself I get gobsmacked! Which elements are weak/strong against other elements change more than I change my favourite meals (I get bored by food). Plus I really get peeved that a Level 2 Common ANYTHING could beat a Level 15 Super Rare! I feel your pain. I have taken to playing in the wee night hours since I am usually an insomniac. Truthfully my hubby plays pretty well when he takes over after work. He does not use the Forum often, but I practically live here! I simply do not get the point. I understand that since they are coming out with more elements than available flavours for pizza crust that the new elements need to find a place in the hierarchy but leave the core elements as they were originally. Personally I feel that at least one new Arena creature and however many they introduce for sale is absolute madness! Wherever are we to put all these creatures since they have decided we will not be allowed to expand in a timely manner? I want to buy more cool habitats when they come out, but where to put them. I would even purchase them and put them in my inventory, but that is not possible. I really like most of the creatures, but have found a new breeding game where the breeding is sometimes trying but not nearly as impossible.

Well I start at the top of my list, which of course is level 15 animals and go down until I find the element I want. Although I am truly believing neither matter. As you saw on your round 2 and the fact that so many others have experienced lvl 15 animals with higher rarity getting beat by very low level animals. My level 15 Treent was beat by level 4 koala cadabra. Luck, it all comes down to luck.

Yeah, feels like something is fishy this tournament. I finally passed round 1 after FIVE(!) fails with my L15 Treasure Toucan, now on round 3 have failed twice with my L15 Toy Poodle. All with strong attacks against level 1 opponents! Crazy. I'm away this weekend so I wasn't going to be able to finish this one without spending gems anyway, but after this start I'm not even going to bother spending. I can do without yet another dark/fire doggie anyway.

I used to have rounds reset on me because of my not-so-dependable wifi, but I figured out something that has worked for me to avoid this:

Before I go to fight a round I go to my 'Neighbors' list (Menu > Social > Neighbors). This seems to force the app to connect to the game server. Once it loads I exit out and then fight the round. Afterward, if I win (because I don't really care if it resets if I lose) I do the same thing; go to my 'Neighbors' list and wait for it to load. Sometimes I even visit a neighbor to sort of 'lock-in' the win. :)

Since I started doing this I have never had a round reset on me. I hope it works for others as well.

Well this one is going in no hurry for me as I'm behind a very flaky Internet connection and today for much of the time I wasn't around a wifi at all.
Nonetheless, I did see to it that my new Golden Retriever would be leveled up as far as possible. It's currently at level "14.4", meaning that it's at level 14 and has had two of the five last feedings for getting it to epic level (which shall be done after the tournament). I'm giving it lots of excercise now and it's a top class addition to the select group of "core fighters". It just beat the Tulip Tapir on its first attempt too.
As for what chippychan wrote: I also do that "lock-in" trick. I think it's enough to pull in the list of neighbours or community members as that is obtained from the server.
Today twice in haste I didn't do that and paid dearly for it; once a bomb was docked when trying to enter the mine (I'm in the 70 rune phase and desperately need space, so that was a sour loss). The second thing that happened was a roll-back on a round that was won. Fortunately I also won the round when I directly tried it again, so no damage was done.

I have just updated this app and I notice that the timer no longer appears over the arena when you click on it. Sorry if this has been mentioned before. You just get # gems at bottom to speed. Needs to be fixed.

But 2nd half of tournament is tougher so hoping will not suffer too much .

Yeah, the battle system really makes one scratch their head/want to throw something against a wall at times xD I've had good success with no ultra rares or older event animals (first event type I acquired was Ice Cream and I don't use them for battling): out of the four previous tournaments, I've finished three (and without spending gems to speed). It was just this last one (Moleten) that was a nightmare.

I have no idea about changing name/ID on the forum. Maybe you need to do it from within one of the games?

I haven't been keeping track of my results for the last few tournaments because I've been doing some testing of different attacks. I didn't want to post my many loses using attacks that aren't ideal for the opponent. :)

I am noticing that even though I'm purposely trying to lose many rounds (by using very low level animals with 'weak' or 'neutral' attacks) I'm going pretty fast through the tournament; I'm at round 17 and round 18 on my 2 accounts without gem-speeding. I kind of wish there was an option to purposely lose or quit a round so I can try again with a different element. :rolleyes:

They will probably fix it but until then you can plant 1 hour crops right after battling and you have your own counter right there! :)

In exactly the same boat as you. I'm think there are a few of us on the forums like that:). Unicorn-less, event supers-less & working toward Treent;). Like SummerNightSky, the last tournament sucked for me. This one feels a little better, but not much. And by looking at my current results, it seems like it could be leaning toward the 'sucky' category. I'm currently at 12 wins, 15 losses & stuck on the Caturn round 13 where my dependable Epic level Ancient Sloth can't seem to win:(.

That being said, is the update worth installing at this time? Claims of "Storybook Adventures" and "Spin to Win" sound enticing, but I'm afraid of other bugs attaching themselves along with the timer being dropped from the arena...

The next Time I did what 31aug2002 (post #14) did and used Ancient Sloth. I did earth first which was neutral but when I did Nature with the next hit it was Critical and I won the round. I am wondering if nature or (nature with earth) is strong against shamrock.

Congratulations on your victory. It is one of the ironies of the game that you need a Critical Hit to win the round but it does not communicate any useful information about the strength of the attack. beside, if you are on iPad mini, when you have lot of animals, FFS crashes non stop :mad: i had an iPad but couldn't play anymore FFS and DS on it : the lands are too big ! i had to switch to an iPad Air 2. memory bigger no doubt

Players are losing to low level opponents and also trusted fighters are no longer winning. It was the same in the previous 2 tournaments, well for me it is.

I started on the first several rounds using my common animals. I won each time. I forget what level I started having trouble. I stuck with the original animals, like if the chart said fire was strong to that opponent, I'd use the Pyro Pony. I did the same thing the last tournament, & it worked well for me.

I hope I was of some help to you. I know it's too late to help you with this tournament.

Quick question... Why do people call level 15 animals epic? Thank you, & good luck! :D

Well done on finishing! The Dusky needs 138,325 to get to epic...to be honest, I don't know if that's good or bad compared to the newer release animals. Seems reasonable to me, she's beautiful so I don't mind the apples.

I just realised nearly every animal to me is a 'she'. Whoops!

Same is the case with me. I have had three straight losses in the morning. Was away for a few hrs... Tried once again. But the stubborn dragon keeps teasing me.

Thanks all for the kind & encouraging words!! Sitting now on rd 23. Only 2 losses at the moment. I have been rotating in the commons, but my luck seems to be, if the common takes down a round, it's only after a loss or 2:(.

I hope they haven't! I was still getting strong attacks just no criticals. Reinstalled the original version, picked a fighter, and the first hit was critical! It might've been a coincidence but from now on I'm battling in the original app :)

It's no problem :) This is actually the first time I've been able to record all of my results. In previous tournaments, I'd forget to update, start forgetting what animals I used and how many losses I had, and eventually in frustration I'd just delete what I'd recorded thus far xD Yay for perfectionism. Finally after 5 loses I downed that Paradise Parrot with a blast of water from my Patriotter, which I used previously but got 3 strong hits, hours later plus some gems to speed up abit it won for me.

Woo hoo! After 6 losses to the Present Phesant round 27, I am into the dreaded Money Badger. I've got Egypt & Nature written down to try. Not sure how many shots I'll be able to sneak in before I'm out for the day. Then I'll have to (hopefully) finish up this evening.

Yippee, my faithful Blizard came through... For once I did not stick to one element per round and actually beat Dusky in the very first battle with Blizard water,earth SC. I'm so happy! My battle results are in post #29 on page 3.

I can't believe I missed out on both Steamtrunk and the Patriotter! The Steamtrunk tournament was my very first, so I had no idea what I was doing. Patriotter, I have no excuse. :( Fire-water animals seem so helpful! S8 should put them on this wheel that's supposed to be coming :rolleyes:

Thanks! I don't know too much about it but apparently going into your neighbour list will sync your game to the servers (when it loads up all of your neighbours), saving anything you've done in that play session.

I think you've had a rollback :( S8 will not do anything to help you with this situation unfortunately. It happens to a handful of people every tournament. I'm sorry but the only thing you can do is try again and hope for a win. Good luck!

Hi guys,

I'm back home after a long overnight journey with virtually no sleep.
Despite the flaky internet connection in Gambia and often being completely internet-less, I've had a pretty easy tournament. The toughest round was the Toy Poodle one, which took some 5 attempts before it was finally passed. The ultra rares were all beaten in 1-2 attempts. :P
The Golden Retriever has done really well during this tournament and now that it has been won, I finally sent it into the flower so it can undergo its last evolution. :)
The dusky is safe and sound in the storage and will hopefully soon be hatched...

Finally finished my tournament with the Dusky proving tough to beat. I had a little bad luck in the 4th try in battle. I won it with my ancient sloth with strong critical strong hit, but the game rolled back on me :( and it took me 4 more tries to bring it down . I finally did it with the ancient sloth with weak nature, critical earth, strong earth hit.
Now it's cooling its heels in the storage.

I'm sorry to see so many having trouble. These last couple tournaments have gone a lot smoother for me, and I'm attributing it to the fact that I am almost exclusively using pure element animals. All of my pures are at level 15, so that's not a consideration. And I'm really not sure how much rarity is playing into the animal's effectiveness anymore - at least it hasn't seemed to have much affect for me lately.

I have to say, I'm loving using the Caturn & the Peony Pony whenever they are strong. They have been some very effective fighters for me! :)

This is absolute garbage. I battled Dusky for the first time right before bed on Friday night and lost. I battled it 13 times on Saturday and lost. So that means I got to the very last round with two full days left and STiLL can't win and hatch the blasted thing to get the gem prize!?!

Unfortunately Dusky has a 20 or 21 hours hatching time... So you won't be able to finish hatching it before the end of the deadline... And speeding up with gems would certainly defeat the purpose of getting five gems as a reward

If you don't have a unicorn to try, use ancient sloth, someone used eart and won. Hope that helps.

Success! Got hung up on Present Pheasant and Money Badger too long to finish the quest, but got Dusky!

For the Skeletal Dragon I used Sapybara (Earth/Nature), so maybe sweetdeda's suggestion of Ancient Sloth might work? It's pretty much the same thing. Good luck!

I have two more tries at dusky then it's bedtime for me. My Dusky May end up costing me 34 gems, 4 to speed and 30 for an ultimate hit, if I don't beat him in these to attempts. 34 is much better than whatever his cost in the shop.... Just really don't want to use gems at all.

Awesome! Glad you got him, especially for free! I have to confess to a few speed ups here and there lol :o This is the first tournament I've won for a very long time (I think Craguar was the last one I won), I can't believe I missed out on so many!
