Odd glitch in today's mining. On one of my mining sessions I found 3 ivories but it only added 1 ivory to my count. I was actually saving pictures for data collection purposes that helped me figure out that I wasn't just crazy in my math :)

Below it can be seen that I got two ivories bringing my total to 103, and then I got three bringing my total to ... 104. Since that's basically like missing one bomb, I'm removing a bomb from my tally for statistical purposes.

Total so far: 116 fragments from 50 bombs

This from getting 55 fragments from 26 bombs, but only getting credited for 53. So adding 53 fragments and 25 bombs to the previous tally. Both round to a somewhat disappointing 2.12 fragments per bomb, but because of my very impressive first haul of 63 from 25 my current rate is a solid 2.32 fragments per bomb.

I had used the mining guide as a structure, once I had discovered it. But from there, it had been a little random on where to choose once I get a "near" or "very close." It may be my imagination, but the various island fragments and dragon parts do seem to have a tendency to be away from the center of the mine. Getting to know the grid is really the foundation of a good mining strategy. It becomes the difference between mining by feel and getting the precise information available from the responses. If needed waste a bomb just blowing holes every other spot or so to get to know the grid. Maybe even post here if the different screens are different and can be of use to others.

I know when I use my daughter's iPad I'm not quite as adept on the grid as on my phone, and it does hurt my performance!

I just posted grids from an iPhone 5S and an iPad2 on the Mining Guide thread http://forums.storm8.com/showthread.php?72394-Dragon-Story-Mining-Guide/page3 Figured it would be less likely to get lost as Mining Dragons come and go.

You can see that the grids are different against a common background and if you are keying off visual clues for bomb placement, then you will be off as you switch from one device to another. I had used the little green flower and the space next to the hammer for my phone. But on the iPad, those visual clues don't work.

With 4 of the expected 13 additional bombs needed to get to 200 coming in the morning, Ivory should be mine Saturday night.

Final Total: 200 fragments from 87 bombs

Added 30 fragments from 14 bombs. A below-average showing at 2.14 fragments per bomb, but it did the trick. Not bad for late in a Saturday BBQ without a calculator and not fully with my wits about me :)

That makes a total rate of 2.30 fragments per bomb, spot on target.

Go careful on your timing for crafting as you are doing the dragon tales as well, my ivory has gone on the nest 17 hours but I also have 33 Virture 1/2 way through on my other nest ....... But my dragon tales chapter one is complete so my Astro dragon is hatched and in place on habitat but others could get caught out so careful timing needed as TL is running so many things at the same time ........

I have an ivory dragon already. I have 23 bombs, which I'd like to save for next dragon. However,I don't think you can store more than 25 bombs. Having said that I don't think I can possibly get 200 ivory pieces before the promotion ends. Anybody know when the ivory thing expires. Please advise

I can't answer your question but wanted to confirm that yes you max at 25.

@bozotc: usually when I already have the mining dragon, I evolve dragons until I reach the max number of bombs possible (which is 25). After that, I will stop evolving my dragons until the timer is up for the expiratio of the current dragon. Once the timer is down to only a day or two, that's the time I will send a dragon with long evolution time (usually extra virtue dragon or any 20+hours dragons) so when a new dragon is released, it gives me a headstart of having more than the max number of bombs to be used on first day. Keep in mind though that use your stored bombs first before finishing the evolution of your dragon so you can maximize the amount of bombs you can get. :) I hope it helps. :)

Usually the mining dragon changes after 4 weeks which would be Tuesday August 18th. Sometimes we get 4.5 weeks so Friday August 21st is possible.

Thanks to the bonus weekend I was able to start the craft in 2 accounts. That made a huge difference. My baby account is still behind. I will have to wait until i craft the next scroll to start that one.

Yeah, I was far behind but that double weekend really helped. I was down around 140 and managed to get the other 60 pieces (plus an extra 2) in just this weekend. So I started crafting mine last night. It's safe enough as it should be done well before I need the craft shop for the dragon event again.

Waiting on crafting until the Time of Dragons thing is over. Waiting to bomb more until I would lose bombs or a new mining dragon is released.

Wrong thread, Ivory can only be crafted

I've read that some players need to evolve to get their dragons from Level 3 to 4, whereas others (like myself) don't get to evolve until they are going from Level 6 to 7.

Why is this? It doesn't seem fair, particularly now that we have to spend soooo much to feed a few dragons to Level 15.
Meanwhile, we have to spend all our food getting every dragon to Level 7 just to get bombs for mining...

This is why I'm still only at around 150 ivory tokens and probably won't get to 200 in time :(
