Loretta and Hazel's Journey Around the World!

Hello all!

Like many people this month, I was put off by the gems-for-goals fiasco and decided not to complete the goals, playing only up until the point of unlocking all recipes on the first oven.

I usually redecorate my bakery every so often, and at the time the goals came out, I had a beach, complete with Hazel and Loretta hovering over the ocean in their Bakery Balloon. One of my neighbors (Spoons!) casually remarked that they should come back to shore, lest they become lost at sea, to which I replied they were off to see the world. At that point, inspiration struck, and since I had no intention of completing this month's goals, I decided to see just how many international themes I could cover in my bakery as part of their adventures.

If you're a neighbor of mine, you've already been following their adventures a bit, but if you're not, then I wanted to take the opportunity to share their adventures with you :) I've been receiving a lot of positive feedback on this idea (thank you!), and I hope this brings some enjoyment and/or inspiration to anybody who's also decided not to complete goals this month. Of course, if you have completed the goals, then I still hope you'll still enjoy Loretta's and Hazel's adventures regardless.

And so, I present: Loretta and Hazel's Journey Around the World!, featuring Jules Balloon as their competitor and/or arch antagonist. They've left the California coast in hopes of adventure, but will they make it around the world in 80 days? Will Jules sabotage the daring duo in his quest to win the race?? All bets are off!

(Side note: This more or less started on 2nd July, so I'm giving Hazel and Loretta until 20th September to visit all the destinations I've got planned. Let's hope Jules doesn't beat them! Also, this is the first time I'm sharing pictures of my bakery on this forum - hooray! :D )

On the menu for this destination: Choco-tini Glasses; Whips (Cream, Sky, Summer); Gelato (Honey, Green Tea, Chocolate); Puffs (Vanilla, Mocha, Strawberry); Beach Parfaits; Sugar Sand Tarts; Pirate Peach Pie; Cream Soda Float; and more! Basically, any recipe from the appliances you'd see in the above pictures. I tried to have my menu match the theme, as you'll see in upcoming destinations as well ;)

On the menu for this destination: Wagashi, Mochi Ice Cream, Dango, Castella, Rainbow Dips (just try to convince me they aren't Pocky :p), Green Tea Scoop, Oolong Green Tea, and Matcha!

I tried to decorate in anticipation of the Obon and Tanabata festivals, both of which occur in the summertime in Japan (hence the fireworks wallpaper). Hopefully I did a good job? :o Also, as a sort of personal accomplishment, this destination used only coin items! That's great for my gems, but sadly still bad news for my coin balance. :(

Also, please note: I am still not accepting neighbors at this time. I appreciate your kind words and feedback, and am flattered you would want me as a neighbor, but I have enough at the moment.

Aww, thank you! :o I knew of both festivals before, but I used to think they were the same festival with different names. Some quick Googling, and I can now say I know the difference! :)

Well, if Loretta's and Hazel's goal is to go around the world in 80 days or less, then it would make the most sense to keep moving in a forward path! ;) Of course, if S8 releases another international/foreign update between now and when their trip is over that I really really like, they might just backtrack a wee bit to go see it :p Thank you so much for the compliment; glad you're enjoying their journey so far!

On the menu for this destination: Honey Smoothie, Honey Tea, Spice Art Coffee (since this game doesn't have Turkish Coffee yet :( ), Sherbets (Lime and Strawberry), Turkish Delight, Ma'amoul Cookies, Lumet il Adi Puffs, Kunafeh Pastries, and Apple Tea!

I tried to be clever with this one and hide the door behind the balloon since it opened to an "outdoor" setting. Was I successful? ;)

Oh my goodness, I'm so flattered! :o Thank you so much! I'm honored you would think so, but I highly doubt I'll be given any such title. I've seen plenty of bakeries that do a much better job than I do with decorating.

Another Fun Fact: The colors on the wall of the waffle shop are the colors of the German flag: Red, Yellow, and Black!

So where did Jules go? Could that meeting he had with the Sultan in Turkey have anything to do with his disappearance? Has he fallen behind? Is he racing ahead? Or, as a neighbor of mine suggested... could he simply be avoiding the Fraulein because they have history?? :p I'd love to hear your theories!

On the menu for this destination: Biscotti, Cannoli, Cannoli Cups, Tiramisu, Bombolini, Anise Cookies, Pizzelles, Tri-Color Cookies, Focaccia Bread, Pane di Pasta, Garlic Bread, Cappuccino, and Spumoni! I had quite a lot of food to choose from for this destination ;)

I didn't really have a centerpiece for this destination, so the theme went more in the direction of little Italian shops. There's a coffee shop, a bakery, and a gelato shop (that actually sells ice cream... sssh!) Adding to the Italian ambience is the Artist's Stall from August's set of goals. I thought it compared pretty well to the Art Stand from the Lil Italy box :) Of course, it also helped that the August 5th update was an Italian-themed one ;) Thank you S8 for helping me flesh out my theme!

Aaaand with this destination, Loretta and Hazel have officially crossed the half-way point in their international journey! No turning back now!

Apologies for the delay in getting these pictures out. I accidentally deleted my first batch, so I had to recreate France in my bakery in order to obtain these. Recreating scenes is harder than I thought! :( But thankfully there haven't been any other errors, so the rest of the pictures should be up soon!

Also, I finally got around to using that Pie Table for something! Those 3 French Hens are awfully proud of their dessert table; they think Jean-Pierre's prices are a bit ridiculous :p

(I realize the date of this posting is very close to Christmas itself; however, Loretta and Hazel made their visit to the North Pole back in September - very specifically, September 9, based on the timestamp on my photos. Their journey is not currently ongoing! ;) )

On the menu for this location: Fruitcake; Reindeer Cupcakes; Yuletide Truffles; Winter Branch Cake; North Pole Cupcakes; Santa Hat Brownies; White Hot Chocolate; Caramel Cocoa; and more!

I was able to get quite a few spare appliances built while I had this theme :p Thanks to all the neighbors who helped me out!

The next destination marks the finale of their trip! Will Hazel and Loretta be able to make it back into the race and surpass Jules for once and for all? Will they remain stranded at the North Pole? Will pixiegamer ever complete their journey on the forums??

:eek: The elves aren't evil! Loretta and Hazel simply pitched in to help the reparations process along ;) It's hard work patching up a balloon when your main focus is building toys (or in my case, ovens) for good little boys and girls :p

They've done it! With a little help from Santa Claus and his elves, Loretta and Hazel managed to patch up their balloon, and have successfully landed in Yankee Stadium, beating out Jules Balloon in the process! They've come in first place!

This couldn't have happened without you all :) I'd give you all big big hugs if I could. Your support has been amazing, and it's unbelievable how much interest and positive feedback I received as I chronicled Loretta and Hazel's adventures. Thank you all so much! ♥

Where are they now: Loretta and Hazel have temporarily retired from globetrotting, and are back to managing my bakery (gotta build up funds once again - their journey made me coin-broke!). Jules, on the other hand, has gone to Germany to stay with his Fraulein, while Jean-Pierre and other supporting characters have all returned to their respective locations (aka, my inventory, until a need for their presence rises once again). Currently, there are no plans for an encore adventure, but maybe if Storm8 gives us more international themes/goals in 2016 (hint, hint ;) ), Loretta and Hazel might travel again. They still haven't visited China since the Lunar Festival goals came out after their journey was done!

Once again, thank you all so much for following Loretta, Hazel, and Jules in this adventure :) I hope you enjoyed their travels!

This was such a treat. All the little touches really made each location shine and the story was so fun! My particular favourites are the three French hens (aka my favorite ridiculous decoration in game) and the colosseum picture when they were in Italy. I love how you used a level 1 decoration that I don't always overlook these days, such a neat touch.

Eee, you noticed the colosseum picture! I didn't think anyone would catch that :p

The French Hens were a favorite for a lot of people when I debuted France - I had to bring them back in NYC just for that reason. Thank you for following along! :)

Aaahh thank you so much! I'm happy to say my funds are mostly replenished, but I don't have another adventure in the works just yet :(

I did have one story/event in Restaurant Story at around Halloween but completely forgot to post it on the forums at the time :( I'll definitely post again if I come up with another one :)

Yeah, it's an iOS vs. Android thing. My bots/customers in the pictures are Android customers.
