Keep RS running in the background?

Hi! I just started playing today. Is there any way you can keep RS running in the background? I got a message saying I earned so and so while I was doing something but I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing. I tried messing around with it and it keeps reloading the app with the RS starting screen > loads restaurant. I'd like it to just run in the background if I could while I'm texting or on the web of possible. Thanks.

Not sure why you would want it running and using resources while not actively in the game. You will earn coins whether you are running it or not. I believe if you uninstall the game you stop earning....not entirely sure...but if it is just closed you should earn.
