Explain "Pending gifts" to me please?

I don't understand what a "pending gift" is. With a button that says "use gift". Why don't these just say accept gift and go into my gift area like my other gifts? Do they expire if i don't click "use gift" in a certain length of time?

I think that is a gift that you have accepted but haven't used yet. I think that is a reminder to use them. Sometimes if you leave that screen and come back, they are gone. Sorry, I don't know if gifts expire. I always use mine right away.
