Diamond types are best if you have them. If not, keep throwing champs at it. Good luck!

During the Brightsteel tourney I lost my epic Mercury to Angelfire 11. In the Shaman tourney I ultimated against Mercury 20 after losing Atlantis, Warrior King, Lightning, and Diamond, all epic. But I won Shaman with my Mercury. Going back further, I lost Mercury to Chess 13. If you have Angelfire or Chess I would try those.

If this helps, I lost Shaman to Charm 12 in my first battle today.

Good luck and I really believe there is more luck than strategy involved in battles.

My forbidden (gold), cosmic, and diamond work best against these tough ones (I saw that you didnt have Diamond) but maybe one of the other two? (if you are saving up for a second gold since forbidden is a gold dragon).

Thanks! My epic guardian angel is really...guarding!! He's not letting anything past him! Hopefully we can both zoom through and collect 200 pieces. Now I actually hope a tourney doesn't come Friday, I find my battling pace REALLY slows down during them.

I don't know what level you're battling, but if it's around a lvl 10 and you don't have any diamonds, Valentine is a good one. Also, any champs you may have have a good shot at winning.

Thank you so much for your response. And there I was, imagining there's some hidden depth there and maybe some dragons are stronger at bashing, while for others magic is their stronger point. =)

So is the simplified rule of thumb to use colors that your opponent doesn't have? My Cleopatra got defeated by a Divine, so I used an epic Fire and that took care of it. Up to 15 poles now. Good luck to everyone!

Well, generally yes, you don't want to use the same colours your opponent has. But that doesn't mean you can use every colour your opponent doesn't have. There is a guide in the first post, stating which colours work best against which.

I beat leopard already today with a champ, then defeated an armor dragon, then had to face leopard again - and lost!! If your rainbow sentinel is epic, it has a 55% chance of winning - that's if the leopard is a level 14 like mine.

Try babies (fire and forest in particular), level 3/4 event dragons and diamonds. One of those 3 always manage to get champs down for me.

After I heal the Manticore, I'll be evolving him to 7,but that's going to take many hours, so who can I try meanwhile? The only epic dragons I have are Fire, Air, Life, Clockwork and Viking. L6 Cleopatra and 7 Marshmallow have been doing good, but both have a color the first post says not to use (it was either yellow or pink)

That's not exactly true. For example, I could pit it against a level 10 Anubis and my chance of taking it down would only be 35%. Against an opponent like Eclipse 16 the strenghts of dragons get pretty much leveled. I'd personally try anything I have with white and purple while working on the Manticore.

I think I know what happened here. I've only had access to the arena for a month now, my account was level 100+ already when I started battling and my understanding is that the island level determines the level of the opponents. So in my case, I've never had an opponent below level 10, and I got tricked into thinking they don't exist in the arena.

EDIT: Took a look at your island. Seems to me that, apart from your Manticore, your Peacock is your best bet. Your Hypnotic could work too but it's too young.

Eclipse was in the last tournament. I used an epic aether to beat it. (Sorry I know that's not a common dragon!)However, it doesn't have to be epic to win.

This is the first time I have tried one of these craft tournaments although I am on L 111 but do we all get the same dragons as opponents on each individual level in the same way as a normal tounament works ..... I have just beaten Darksteel with epic light at first attempt on level 6 ...... Long way to go but it's a start ;)

No. Opponents and strength are partly a function of level. You at L111 would get different dragons than someone at L70 and someone else at L40.

I got manticore level 14 n it defeated diamond. Now seeing the first post these are the tips for purple type n white type dragons


Purple use: Green, Pink, Gold, Zodiac avoid: Blue, White, Cosmic
White use: Blue, Purple, Stone, Rainbow avoid: Black, Mythic, Cosmic

I have to avoid Blue white,cosmic,black and mythic so it left me with marshmallow(in breeding),

Still battling the Manticore 14? Apart from healing the Rainbow Sentinel and trying it again, you could also try purple-pink dragons like Lacewing, Twilight, Pixie or green-pink like Pansy. I'd start with whichever is the highest level.

Edit: Some purple-greens might work too. The only one I have that might be arena worthy is Familiar I think. I barely ever use them, so I don't have much experience with those.

I've had good luck with Lacewing against Dionysus. She just beat him (lvl 14) with one super duper Magic. I also used Lacewing against Dionysus 18 in the Battlesteel tourney.

So what (other than "because I can") are the practical advantages of having more than one of these (or other similarly offered) dragons?

Passed the half way mark (I'm at 50 poles). I try to hit the arena once an hour and the dog with stomach problems (who needed an emergency walk several times last night) made me hit it several times at night, too.

My epic Quetzal failed twice and so did my epic Anubis. I also have a Diamond, a Crusader and an Infinity, all epic, but I don't know what good they'll do when my "strong" diamonds failed. Any suggestions, please?

Should I rather be trying my other dragons that aren't diamond hybrids? Their potential success rate seems to be dropping considerably according to the arena calculator.

Maybe twice, when I was frustrated that I lost and wanted to try a different dragon. When I won, I always just waited my one hour. As I said before, I'm a beginner and was getting incredibly easy opponents at first, most of them were level 6 or even 5! The level of difficulty has already climbed up for me, now I'm mostly getting level 9th opponents. If it keeps climbing this fast, getting the second dragon will not be easy at all, maybe even impossible, since I don't have Diamonds or any other really great fighters. A lot of my battles so far were actually won with just an epic Fire or Forest.

By the way, once you start crafting, the timer is only 36 hours, not 2 days.

It is usually 4 weeks per dragon, but to keep us on our toes, every once in a while, the dragon hangs around until the following update day. Assume you have two weeks to go for this dragon.

Just started crafting my second one. Still haven't decided if I'll keep him or grind him for stones (I know, the official term is "trade", but I have my own theories about what really happens in that building with the weird spinning thing and crematorium-like smoke). Is there any reason why it would be beneficial to keep a duplicate rather than send him to the grinder?

Using Celestial level 12 your best odds are with: Double or Triple Rainbow, Morning Glory, Dionysus, Headless, Jade, Lacewing, Marshmallow, Parakeet, Rainbow Sentinel, Rapunzel, Snap, Spring, Steampunk, Twilight, Wildflower, Witch or Zombie.


So the Arena has decided to play it rough and throw a Snowangel at me. Anyone know how to beat this :(

Other than any Diamond/Hybrid, your best chance is an Epic Champ. Everything else is 10% (I used level 12 for Snowangel)

Yhm... I'm 49 poles into the third one. The second one is already stones and their oldest brother is Epic (the evolutions that are only 4 hours each were very helpful with that). Don't even know if I'm going to finish that third one but hey, might as well try.

If you don't have any Diamond or diamond-hybrids, then every other dragon has about the same odds. To ease the strain on your spa, I'd use Fire 1s. If they lose, sell them rather than heal them. Then get another.

Uhm what do you mean you used level 12? I thought we the max level of our dragon is 10... but thanks anyway, I just beat him using Peacock awhile ago (after like 6 more fails, Champ include xD).

And now the Arena is throwing a level 13 Valkyrie at me... come on, seriously! :(
