Try hypnotic, aether, familiar. Most dragons with white or purple (or both!) should work fine!

Purple & White super rare dragons are a better choice against Cosmic dragons than Champions. If you have Boo, Wraith, Geode, Spellthorn or Messenger, use that instead.

Dear, from my experience, that meant Lacewing doesnt work well for you, you may change the other like Battlecaster 10Bb like Justbekind recommend or Black Rose, Tiger eye... or you can change way like do Magic first...

During my first tourney, I had no champs and no diamonds, but I found one of my dragons was more than up to the task. It became my go-to dragon for tough fights, even after I had my first champ. Somehow, regardless of type matching, my Aether, ArenaGod, gets the job done; when I'm stuck, it's my life saver. You just have to go through the dragons you have until you find that one (or two), who seem to do better than all the rest. I don't know if it's random chance (I'd lay my bets on that), hidden stats (a possibility), or if there's a D20 rolling in the background (I wish), but some dragons just do better than others. Try your Super Rare ones, the limited ones, the ones you only got during holidays; those are your best chances.

thanks u too! i'm trying. always taking super rares closest to needed types, checking colliseum records from dragonstorybreeding, battle arena from wikia, etc.
found couple of warriors, also found some good strange guys... defeated dimond by 2 bashes from water, for example.

LOL! I have the exact same response to Mercury. Every time I see that dragon, no matter what its level, I cringe. On my first tourney I spent a literal 36 hrs trying to take it down. Whenever I see it now, I mentally refer to it as my Waterloo.

Not sure what to try there, but might give Air and Ruby a go. I think those are the only two I have out of all the other winners posted so far. Lost 1.5 hours in the tournament because hubby wanted to go for a motorcycle ride (despite it being 51 degrees - not including wind chill). He's not into TL games and just doesn't understand how important this tournament is to me. Hopefully I can finish GA off easier than Helios because I'll fall asleep well before the tournament ends. Really don't want to ultimate if I can help it since gold buying is out of the question and it's not like I have a lot to begin with. But I will if I have to. I WANT this dragon - my first champion!

Interesting note: I've been using the arena calculator at Dragon Story Wikia after seeing it mentioned in the last tournament thread. This calculator works well, but does not appear to be fool-proof. Of course, it cannot not account for the randomness of damage, winning and losing.

My rounds 6 and 10 losses were when the calculator seemed to be wrong. Arcane and Aether did not fit into the guidance of the color list typically found in the first post of a tournament thread (as well as above the calculator). In each case, it chose a dragon based on its second color rather than its first (which is the color that counts based on my observations). The loss of Peacock in round 10 was simply choosing the wrong first attack :-/ I did not use the calculator for round 12 after the losses to Helios.

Helios was a bugger (every tournament just has to have one, eh?), although not as bad as Dark Angel in the Brightsteel tournament.

Beat it with level 6 Ruby. :) Yeah, I'd much rather have 51 than 34. It's been a bit windy here today too, so it was cold on the ride. Really too cold for me as it makes me ache. If it had been 34 degrees, I would not have been out there. In the interest of politeness, I shall refrain from telling you what my response to his "Want to go for a ride" would have been had it been that cold. :D I really wish mother nature would make up her mind. It's been going back and forth between warm and cold. We're supposed to have a freeze tonight. Guess who isn't going for a ride tomorrow?

Another option, if you have a lot of red habitats, move the dragons from one red to others with a higher coin capacity, sell the red habitat, and start your Champions habitats now. Don't have to wait.

After starting my day with an overdue win against Eclipse (Celestial 7) and a one-bash win over Helios (Diamond 6) I spent the rest of the day on Guardian Angel. Attempts ranged from by-the-books (Diamond 6, Crusader 3, Warrior Queen 10) to forum-post-suggestions (Ruby 6, Air 10). I was planning on evolving my Crusader and alternating between a just-healed Diamond and others, but decided to throw the Crusader at GA one more time while my Diamond healed. bmM!

My 9th champion but only my second tournament with no gold spent!

GOT IT! I had to use the ultimate on both Blue Peacock and Eclipse after multiple tries (I mostly have common Epic level dragons, working on that now). Made it to Guardian Angel and burned through Epic Lily, Fire, Forest, and Water before I was finally able to beat him with Epic Air. I was getting nervous so I used gold to speed it up a couple of times. Now I wait for hatching :D

Android user here who wants to say thanks to the ios users who posted so much helpful information. I spent a little gold but managed to get the Guardian. It was getting late and time short and I used ultimate on the last two rounds. Worth it to me as I can now go to bed with a new dragon to put on the nest as soon as I can (nest full atm)

I can confirm it myself XD ios player, on since October last year. Yes, the ultimate attack will take out the dragon. But I don't have the gold for ultimate. I would have done it already if I did.

I am going to be super upset if I battled all day today and don't get it. I've never gotten to the /last round/ and been blocked there. But here I am, over twelve rounds into this and nothing.

It's tougher and all dragons pretty much have the same chance (which means everyone who reaches that level has the same chance at beating it) but the pressure was on because unlike in a normal tournament there weren't any extra days to throw dragons at it.

There's also ways to earn gold in-game. All those 'install game' goals? If you do them, then you will get a prompt to 'do x' (usually buy a decoration, and you only have to spend 10 coins on that), and you'll get 30 gold - enough for one ultimate - right off the bat. Well said...... I know I often don't have the experience yet to be confident to get through the last rounds on these short champion tournaments but I consider having to spend 60 gold coins to have to ultimate once in two rounds to gain a 1500 cost champ good value. I save my gold for these situations and also gain experience in the other rounds to use in future tournaments ..... Just keep trying ;)

That's not true! I'v got my champ dragon with Gold Dragon ( diamond hybrid).I'v got it from my first try (Mb)..in fact the last 5 Dragons I'v beat them with no problem with my Gold Dragon.So..it's possible. ?

Another option, if you have a lot of red habitats, move the dragons from one red to others with a higher coin capacity, sell the red habitat, and start your Champions habitats now. Don't have to wait.

Wow, first time I've seen Forest mentioned as beating GA. Just goes to show that when it comes to beating the final (and sometimes other) opponent, you never know what will work. Talk about randomness!

It was quite upsetting since I've lost all my remaining gold to skip the 2 rounds before the last because of the lack of time. Epic forest, air, landworm didnt work for me as it did for some others. Aether, and around half a dozen others are also cued up for the healing spring. It's sad, I thought the ad said 2 days and not a day and a half. If I knew better, I shouldve managed to spare some more time for this... The quest thingy ain't going well too since Im not able to breed the needed dragons in time. Well.. I should just continue leveling and breeding dragons and try my best next time~ Congrats to all winners!

Not true. This is my third tournament, I didn't have any Champions, Diamonds, Diamond-hybrids, or any other ultra-rares - and I won. A lot of people are winning not only with Champions and Diamonds/hybrids but also with commons like air, fire and forest. When it came to beating GA, some were winning using magic, some with bashing. There's a lot of randomness in tournaments and there's no way to predict the outcome of each battle with any certainty.

Every tournament seems to have one or more dragons that causes some people to get stuck, and not all of those who get stuck get stuck on the same dragon. In this one, Helios was the bugger for me while others had difficulties with Eclipse, Nightlight and Blue Peacock, along with Guardian Angel.

Unfortunately, with a flash tournament like this, getting stuck can be a pita because of the short time frame. You have less time to battle, healing is 2 hours a pop (can be an issue for those without a large number of dragons), and getting stuck chews up precious time.

I'm sorry you didn't win, but it's just the way it goes. Not everyone will win every tournament.

I'm sorry you didn't win this tournament, but S8 can't simply give you the dragon because you didn't win in time. That's the point of it being timed - to challenge us! There have been MANY tournaments and every single one has had 2 (sometimes more) level 20 opponents to beat, and people manage to do it, based not only on the dragons they have, but luck as well. So in the meantime, work on getting your current dragons to epic, and in the next tournament hope for the best!

I have the same problems with the junior account. No room. I had just expanded, bought a new habitat, and then hatched the egg to put in it. When I placed my new egg on the nest, it was a Fairytale rather than a Bountiful fail. I moved dragons, sold my next to last red habitat and bought the one for Fairytale. Then my good luck continued, I had a Royal on the nest (a Queen apparently as DS named her Victoria). So I was waiting to collect maps, then expand, then build the habitat. This morning I finally got to place her in her new home after sitting on the nest, ready to go, for several days. It's also the last time I can use the sell red habitats to make room option. I only have one left.

Im sorry that you feel that way..

But it is not a requirement that you do tournaments. It is your choice whether or not to do them. It is a good idea to do the tournaments to get the prize at the end if you win.

Good luck on getting any severance from Storm8.. You have to file a ticket to get any compensation from them rather than post in forum. But I never heard of Storm8 giving any compensation..... sorry again but it is your choice do use your time to do these tournaments.

Actually, there are quite a few people who have won, myself included. Sure, it is hard, not everything in life is easy. S8/TL don't have the best reputation for being player friendly and customer service oriented, but I don't believe they owe anyone a dragon or gold because you didn't win. They do have to make it a little hard, at the end of the day, they are a company that needs to make money, off of gold, to survive. If not, no game to play. If you also take a few minutes to read some of the posts on the forums you will find that the level of your dragons do not matter in battles. Some have deafeated champs with babies!

Since he's my first Champion dragon ever, I quickly evolved him to lvl9 (that's all the food I have for now) and every time he shows up on top of the list of the dragons with the best odds to win an arena battle I pick him. Non-stop spa treatments for my first champion for 2 days now!!!

Edit: I obviously know the battles are a matter of luck. Not badmouthing my precious champion that I worked hard to get. lol! I just had to say this because I find it hilarious that after a year of drooling over the champion dragons on the android end, I finally get one and he's a kitten failing spectacularly! I'm sure he'll come through eventually but for the time being can't even take down a Fuzzy...

Every player has their own strong Champion, normally when a champ is strong for a player, that doesn't mean that champ can be strong in the arena for you also.
My Amazon was my strong champ, but it started to fail and Battlecaster took the strong place but sometimes my Hibiscus can be more stronger than my champions. Don't expect that only because a dragon is a champion, it's obvious that is strong, don't believe in that, sometimes the champion dragon can be so weak that even a Fire Dragon can beat it.

About the number of habitats on the island, I only have 4 champion habitats with 11 dragons because I started to only hatch the champions that I crafted because I cannot put them in my storage, so if I hatched every single champion that I have in my storage, I should had 9 champion habitats with 26 champion dragons, and with my Rainbow Sentinel in a rainbow habitat, that makes 27 champion dragons in total. My storage is a book, unfortunately.

To illustrate that example,
My strong champ is Highland, with Inquisitor in clean-up. Steelflare is decent, but doesn't quite do the job for me that it does for LP.

You'll get one that works for you as you keep growing your collection.

Black Knight is my go to Champ. When that doesn't work I go through the other 20 or so Champs randomly. Eventually one of them gets the job done. LOL
