Very sad drop rates for early needed items - went thru 30 picks/shovels mining for only 2 rubies + 28 silver, 16 iron, 10 gold, 1 nail , 1 shovel - deliveries a bit better but only for tools - 3 tools from 15 deliveries - pets only dropping coins now - so have used jewels for 2 of 5 red dyes so far, if no ruby in 30 minutes will use jewels for last ruby/red dye build. Have been stalking shops/newspapers for 2 days and have seen zero rubies.

At least you're all ready for the yellow and blue dyes.

The mine is just not giving up any rubies but 3 of my airplane orders asked for at least 2 each. Just amazing!!

Not true. Received on my mini farm that's level 17 or 18. Of course not doing there because I can't do honey until level 30 but then again why? 1 gold when fully upgraded every other day?

Only if you expanded the hive. If not, you can still buy at lvl 30

The inability to still the dyes is absurd. Now I have dyes taking up space in my barn... If I can't finish the goal, they are just taking space I need. Honestly, these events are getting more and more unpleasant. I can't remember emptying one since last Summer.

Just to add to what I said on my wall.

Force close your game before beginning the sale. Both buyer and seller.

When seller puts the item up for sale, immediately force close again for the best chance of the buyer seeing it immediately.

That ruby will sell within seconds today of going up for sale. The force closing is a pain but it increases the chances of the sale being successful.

Colour dyes required to upgrade the pot of gold:

6 red dye: 1 ruby, 8 apples each. Take 30 minutes each.
5 Orange dye: 10 oranges and 5 honey. Take 1 hour each.
4 yellow dye: 4 citrus juice, 1 gold. Take 2 hours each.
3 Green dye: 3 salads, 3 green juice. Take 3 hours each.
2 blue dye: 6 iron, 6 anchovies
1 purple dye: 6 linen flowers, 2 paint. Takes 5 hours to make.



So that's

orange 5 hours

green 9 hours
blue 8 hours
purple 5 hours


You also need to bear in mind your sleep/play schedule and if you will be able to put items in to craft when needed but if you have all the items, you should be able to do it.

LMAO, I put the honey in my market and it was gone before I could even place another item in it. It is really going quick! I wish I could give more than one at a time but I haven't upgraded my hive yet, didn't really seem necessary since I can't use honey (no appliance) and the amount of beeswax I get is easily maintained for the timing on candles anyways.

I started this event thinking it would be fun. Then I found out what was needed to make the red dye, feels like I wasted the coins getting the gold pot and the dye maker. Still haven't been able to dig up 1 ruby. I also don't spend all day playing to be able to look in the paper for them. I see the upgrade box states you can get dyes by making deliveries, which does not seem to be happening. I guess I'm done with this event. The farm goes on.

This is the second event in a row that I haven't been able to participate in. No matter how much time and effort I put into the event, I still have to rely on the game to give me what I need ......the red fish, the ruby......and it doesn't. I've depleted my stock of tools and have not received a ruby since this event began. Why don't they just tell us up front how many gems it is going to take to participate in these events? Then I could simply not try to participate since I refuse to be bullied into spending money. Instead, the ole' gullible me gets excited at the new event and ends up disappointed when it boils down to buying gems or not playing.

If you want the completed pot that gives you a piece of gold every 2 days, and you don't think you'll complete the task in time, then it's up to you on if you want to buy gems to make all the inks and upgrade it.

Until the event is over I don't think you can do anything with them but move them around. Once it's over you'll most likely be able to store them, but doubtful you'll be able to delete them.

If you are going to use gems, it is probably cheapest to use the upgrade box in the rainbow pot rather than in the dye maker ....but it will depend on what time you have to play/what resources you have, on what you need to skip with gems. You can check out the information in the first post to work out your best.....and cheapest...strategy.


It's a good prize to have, if you can get it.

I'm not one to complain, but this event has been an extreme bummer! And I know I'm not the only one that feels that way.

Used all my tools, over 19, and not one ruby! That is not what gaming is about...you should at least be given a chance. Taking all my tools, with zero finds, is not a fair chance. Love the game, however considering deleting this one. Last two events have not even come close to finishing. Sticking with CS.

Me too! I used up over 40 tools each on two accounts and just never got any rubies! Crazy. I would have just skipped with gems but I used them all getting another cute rabbit in the tree house. So I just have a plain old black cauldron that I can put out for Halloween! I really love rainbows too so I wanted to complete it but I am getting nowhere. Sad thing is I sent off a couple rubies to fill an order right before the event. So I made two food color and that is it. And I am off to visit my family for the afternoon so I didn't get far on this quest.


I was never able to get any rubies so I'm done. How do I get the pot and egg dying machine off? I tried to delete them from my farm but it wouldn't let me do anything but move them around.

No, not the pizza but the actual fish Anchovies.

Blue dye takes 4 hours each so total is 8 hours.
Purple dye takes 5 hours and you only need to craft 1.

There should also be a bar that highlights in blue to show the progress during that 2 day down to 1 day down to hours wait time. See if the bar is moving to show the progress, since they do it by days and not hours as a countdown. :)

Clearly, I'm late to the party, having been away on Spring Break. That said, I'm not even going to attempt this one. 6 rubies, just to get the thing started? Are you kidding me? Do the people who make up these quests actually play the game? Farm Story 2 has been slowly moving further and further down the totem pole for me, and this just really rubs salt in the wound.

I understand the goal is for TL to make money, but there has to be some balance. Quests like this one are not fun ... so I don't want to play. I'm not going to spend gems if I'm not having fun.

I gave in and spent gems to get the last ruby I needed, and now I'm at the point where I have to make two blue dyes.
I need 12 iron ore to make those two dyes, but no matter how many deliveries I send the drop rate of mining tools is so low and the chance of actually getting iron ore is so small...
I quit. Special bait, lack of mining tools, unreasonable components; it's too much. I love all the wonderful people I've met in these forums but I'm moving on.
I'll have the few iron ores I have up in my shop shortly and I'll sell other items I have stockpiled this afternoon.

I can appreciate that, I am done too. I do love the train but again I have only ever filled two orders completely as some of the orders are out there and it's too frustrating. The pets I have only give money cause there's no room in the barn, it's constant selling or making things I don't need to empty the barn for orders. I have never filled an order for rubies has i've only ever dug one up and now you need six. I'm disgusted that I even bought the pot and dye maker to never be used. I will e selling everything off before I quit so look for the sales.

You can't MAKE paint but you certainly can BUY it!! All you have to do in go to one of the items that needs paint to upgrade, then click on the green bar, then a window pops up with all the separate items you need for up grading and you just have to buy two paints with Gems!!! That's what I did!!!! I did the same thing with the rubies, iron, and gold. Easy peasy!!!!

I get most of my paint from the fishing pond and train orders. I never find them in the paper, get them from the few plane deliveries I still do, and none of my pets drop them either.

There are only 11 hours on the clock left for this event and you will need to complete all the craftings in time to get the finished pot and there are about 2 days worth of crafting time to complete.....only possible now with gems.

Until you collect the gold, it will not start another 2 day timer.

Wax is for the candles when you get a candle maker and I think honey is used in the Jelly Maker (which I'm still trying to purchase!!). I keep selling my honey as I can't seem to get enough coin to purchase the Jelly Maker. LOL!

I usually sell just around market value for things my neighbors aren't selling and above market value for items they are. I figure they don't need to buy the same things they're already selling, so I let non-neighbors/newspaper people pay the higher prices while my neighbors can hopefully take advantage of items around market value for items they're not selling so most likely don't have any of.

Yeah and I still have 3 necklace in line to be made, that 14hrs before I can start making anything else. I could have been making rings and earring all this time to help me get the last 10K for the sushi but no, two weeks of saving rubies and gold for nothing.

This will probably be fixed. The last day of the last event people couldnt store the building and it was quickly fixed. So maybe it will with this one as well.

Putting them up for sale is the way to get them out of your inventory. You can put up for sale, then cancel the transaction if you need your slot and do not want stormie to buy them later.

Me too. There isn't the option to either store the black pot or sell it!

You can continue upgrading your Pot of Gold after the event. If you can find anyone selling Dyes, you can get them from the Side Shop. Otherwise, you can always purchase the remaining Dyes with Gems. Good luck! :)

I think that was more geared for the people that aren't able to upgrade it and want to get it off their farm.
