Lightening and big flashes

It's a rare occurrence but I do not know the reason why out of the blue, (really), there are lightening forks and big flashes across the land! Can you tell me please what I've done?

I'm in the middle of a level, I had just gathered sugar from the bakery then pow! It's a hundred times bigger than the little sparkly stars that are commonplace. It has also happened in the past.

I've searched the forum but could not find an explanation. Please help.

A few people have noticed the same. It's still unknown as to the cause. I haven't been one of the lucky ones in seeing the light show.

I had it once only. My guess is a small bug in the sprite display function of the glittering of buildings that have been visited by neighbors. So basically the sprites are displayed with an over-sized zoom factor.
