The person tapping gets better social rating which shows others they are an active player. You benefit by getting +2 xp to a building that is sparkling ie its been tapped on.

and if the building gives coins, when it's sparkling it will give more coins than usual.

I checked a few buildings (dont remember which) and the coin drop was the same.
