If any of you children think you can do better than the games makers then go make your own game and put it in the app store. Make sure your graphics are just as good and since you're so keen, make sure you update weekly....all for free. Or else just shut up because you lack credibility if you won't, don't, or more likely, can't.

The developer has to make money. They don't create and maintain these games as some kind of warped volunteer activity. To make money, they offer gems. Either spend your cash or don't. No one's forcing you to. You can be a bit bummed that you have to part with actual money to buy certain special items, but complaining like they've owed to you is immature and really entitled.

I'm not saying this to be dismissive, but to be honest, non-paying customers are really only of value to Lave when it comes to their initial download of the game. The more downloads, the higher the game will be ranked in the app store (by the download criteria, of course). Those who are buying the gems are the ones supporting the game. At the risk of sounding cold, kowtowing and caving to non-paying player demands isn't in their best interest. And I say this as someone who hasn't purchased gems and probably won't. When updating, including items that appeal to the gems-buying player population is definitely in their best interest, as it keeps their customer base engaged and spending.

But it's the paying customers that keep the game going. Zynga brings in money thru in game purchases AND advertisement sponsors. Thats why theyre, for all intents and purposes, cheaper. You need to look deeper than the superficial appearance.

Personally, and I know others disagree which is fine, I rather this pricing scheme if it means NO ads. I personally detest ads in my game time as much as I detest telemarketers. That's why I don't play Zynga games anymore. (that and the graphics are terrible).

Omg you have no idea. They whined at Halloween too. It's never ending. They scream about no weekly updates, then when we get updates, they cut it to shreds. Then when premium stuff is for gems and only basic new stuff is for coin they head into a frenzy. I used to try and reason with some now I just shrug and pass their posts by. I just don't understand these people. Not at all. I've downloaded many free or lite games. Played and found I didn't like, for one reason or another. So I just deleted. I didn't hunt down the developers boards to hound, demand, and just generally be nasty. I just deleted the game and was done with it. It's almost like these people have serious mental issues and just can't let anything go, or delusions of grandeur that a company should change for them.

What everybody needs to understand is that each one of us has their own way of playing. We have different levels of tolerance, and different ideas about what we want from a game. Many community members are angry and frustrated, while many others really dont care or stress about it. Wouldn't it be nice if we could just accept that we are all different and are here to voice our different opinions, without being attacked by someone who doesn't agree?

I will be using my gems to purchase Valentines stuff. We were given plenty of opportunities to gain free gems before the update and I plan on decorating my bakery with them. The whole handing out free gems thing seems to happen just before big updates, and I feel that is TL's way of giving us a helping hand to purchase items that cost gems. Im not the op you were ranting at, but I needed to say that I think you are taking their post way too serious. What that poster was saying was the truth. They were saying that they like the game, but that people complain about everything on this forum.... which is true. They commented that they had tried other games and didnt like them... they are allowed their opinion, just as you are. And then they welcomed someone to the forum and warned them of the filth that can be found on this site. They also gave them a few hints about how to deal with abusive community members. Why would a post like that require such a horrible, and IMO, unrelated response from you? To say welcome to a new member is polite, and to warn them of what they may be able to expect from other community members is just a friendly heads up! It would be nice. But as long as there are happy people willing to pay for stuff, the angry players feel they won't be heard because their anger can't hurt the company financially...so they won't get their way. yeah, this annoys me too. i play FREE ngmoco games, wefarm and werule. most of their items are purchased with coins, they even have an option for items that can be purchased for certain amount of coins OR certain amount of gro (equivalent of gem) so people can choose.

The reason TL is still in business is that there are a few players still paying cash for those boxes, but I knew for a fact that number is declining.

I do have to agree that the gem price is a little ridiculous.... 1 box is $5 with a low chance of getting uncommon item. I'm talking about chance, not even a set amount of time opening a box. If you lucky, you get good item in 2 or 3 try. If not, lets spend a ton of money for a ton of junks.

I would like to keep the $5 to buy some real life food/drink to eat to fill myself or to buy 1 gallon of gas to go out for movie rather than using it for stuff that I will never ever get the touch...

I love, love the items I got in my Valentines boxes. Lucky, because I was losing interest. I see most everyone in my neighborhood-600 people-have done some really cute decorating. I think it would really be a good idea if you could buy a gem with 500000 coins or something like that. So everybody has the chance to buy the things for special events.
I love playing the game and I spend a lot of time on my ipad between restaurant,farm and bakery story. I don't mind paying a few bucks for it, since most things that are fun cost money.
I was introduced to the games by my 17 year old daughter who also spends many hours playing.
To sum it up, a couple of free, non violent, cute games that a mother and daughter can play are a great thing and we should all be thankful that a company like Team Lava is out there to provide these games.

Oh, and NO I do NOT work for them.....

What do you mean as usual? Except for contests I may have made four posts since starting these games. If you like the games then try not being so rude in the wording of your angry posts ( not necessarily or specifically you, but the you as in general negative posters). Try not attacking anyone who isn't angry about what you're angry at. If threads are about something positive, don't come and poison the discussion because you're angry about advertising. This thread might have had almost 2000 view, but only 80-something replies, and the majority of them are just arguements back and forward between a few of the members. There isn't really a lot of people actually agreeing with the OP, and the discussion got WAY off topic less than half way through it. So I really dont think this thread is going to make any difference what-so-ever. The simple solution is... if you dont want to gamble on the Valentines box, then just dont buy it, but realise that there are people out there who are willing to. You can't. TL doesn't have purchase confirmations and they don't ever give you gems back. Be careful of what you touch when playing. Never use your finger to scroll through your design tabs on the bottom. Always use the arrows.

If any of you children think you can do better than the games makers then go make your own game and put it in the app store. Make sure your graphics are just as good and since you're so keen, make sure you update weekly....all for free. Im following this protest and not buying the holiday or valentine box!! In a way if this protest continue and people did listen it will help us to finaly getting an item we actually want. BTW what up with new item on holiday box? It not even holiday anymore.... What the OP can do is post this protest on peoples board in bakery story since not all comes here or even know this forum exist. Also spam bad review on the application review, think that will get Norman's attention. I personally have no issue with their pricing. Considering Apple takes a 30% cut of all sales, I think lavas pricing is reasonable. If apple were to lower their take, then yes, I would hope cost of gems would be reduced.

The suggested warnings would probably drive me nuts. I know I stopped playing empire because of too many warning just for trying to sell items.

I invested money into the games, relying on their stated promise to add free weekly updates and improve game play. They have done none of those things. Now, I don't expect them to give everything in an update for free. But I do expect that a few things will be available for coins. I expect them to frequently give new content even if it is not every week. They are not even trying to do that. Therefore, their advertising is false..plain and simple. Why advertise it and continue to do so when they know they have to intent to fulfill it? That is just wrong. Does no one have a sense of right and wrong around here? This is the first rational conversation I have been able to have with someone regarding these issues. A refreshing change. Let me just respond to a few of the things you have said.

As to gem purchasing history, that is not a problem, for I have spent plenty on these games especially in the beginning. I am not pursuing anything except to try to get TL to be a better company and live up to the promises they themselves have made. It's not as if, out of the blue ppl were demanding something that was never promised by TL. They are the ones who claim they will provide weekly content. So as far as I am concerned, they have brought that on themselves. What is worse, is that they keep repeating that claim in every new game when it is a lie and they know it.

As to the price of gems, I will agree to disagree. Lindt can ask a higher price than Hershey because they use Swiss Chocolate, which is the finest in the world. I don't think TL can make such a claim in regard to their games vs. all the other ones out there.

Finally, as to the gem traps, I, like you, have not had the problems others have had. I bought a box when I had no intention of doing so, having had prior experience from other games that you would have a chance to make sure you really wanted to buy it. I was very surprised to learn I had bought something, just for tapping on the box. As for in-app purchasing I also have no sympathy for those who do not even read the FAQ's before handing a game over to a child. TL has covered themselves there. It is incumbent on every person to make sure of what they are doing in regard to that. But the gem traps are different. A slip of the fingers loses you gems whether you are going fast or slow. To me, why ***** people out of them? It just makes people feel resentful and there is no need for it.
If people want to buy something, they will and they will be more happy to spend money if they don't feel like they were ripped off. To me, that's just common sense and also good business sense.

There are ways and then there are ways...you can lie, be sneaky and coy and uninformative, or you can be a responsible company, be as truthful as business allows you to be and respect your customers. It seems to me and many others, that TL has chosen the former.
