Just made the potion to get the garnet, but it's got an 8 hour timer but suggests you need to go 4 times in the quest book. So do I end my current adventure with gems or can I still venture out in the morning?

If I remember right, you have a better chance of getting the garnet during the 8 hrs. Anyway, read:

Yeah I checked they first, thanks. I ended up getting the garnet on the first attempt.
