Maxed Golden Lion + Fly boost = instant death

I have ran into this situation a couple of times. My maxed out golden lion will sometimes run into a boost. If it's the fly boost, and there are obstacles in the way, it's an instantaneous death.

The fly boost can lead you to instant death, mount or not... If the boost stops you in front of a fireball you're toast. There doesn't seem to be a few seconds of invincibility after the boost stops, like there is with mounts and the grow/ghost boosts.
