What is the point...? (new VD version)

I don't get why TL has chosen to create a new app for Valentine's Day version of RS. Couldn't they have simply done an update? My homescreen is cluttered with double apps per each story game. So can I delete the original RS and keep the VD version?

Also, is there supposed to be tasks for the new VD version? I have tasks for the VD Farm Story, but none for this one. Actually, there is really nothing new about this version except for a different background....
