Wow! Didn't expect another tourney so soon. I'm happy about the prize, though. I haven't been able to breed a Storm Sphinx, so I'm thrilled it's a super-rare electric/nature! :D
Edit: I see it's water/nature, now. Darn! Scratch my happiness, lol!

Another reason to be sad about my inability to breed a Present Pheasant (quite useful in tourneys!) I'm jealous of yours, Mel. But thanks for speeding thru so we know what critters are coming!

To be honest I just can't get motivated to care about another tournament. They used to be so fun but I just cannot handle one a week. Between the flash tournaments and the 6 day tournaments that's what it feels like. And I know that it pretty much requires setting hour timers to have a chance... I'm just not into putting that much effort into this game so frequently. I feel like I'm going to have to start picking and choosing which tournaments I play in because I just cannot play that much. I don't love this animal... I'm playing but I'm just not setting timers. I know that means I'll probably just barely win if I win at all but seriously? Yeah, I'm really starting to feel that way too. Too many animals to breed is bad enough, but too many tournaments means you have to commit way too much time than most of us are willing to spend on the game. And once I start saying, "I am not inspired to really try for this week's thing", it's all downhill for a game from there. There is a fine line between too little happening and a game getting boring for nothing to do, and too much happening and if you can't keep up with ANY aspect of the game, why bother?

Any fighter, regardless of whether it is strong or weak, has at least some chance of getting a critical (and getting a critical = winning the battle). Your odds of getting a critical hit and winning are just better when you choose the correct fighter (strong to one or both of the opponents elements). The odds also improve with level and rarity.

So, you chose a fighter that was totally neutral to the opponent... definitely possible to win with it, your chances just weren't as high as they could have been. But, it was also a super rare against a common so that gave you a better chance.

It does seem like there is an overabundance of nature in this tournament. I've been using my Unicorn a lot.

Typical tournament for my troops so far, couple early losses to level 1 creatures, a good run after that and losses starting to mount at round 20. Tried my Toy Poodle against the Treasure Toucan figuring two strong element matchup would overcome that fact it's only a rare. Won on the third try, no better than my Pumpkin Panda has done in the past.

Sounds like some tough luck on round 11. In this tournament, I have been using many creatures that I picked up in previous tournaments and battlegrounds. Steamtrunk and Thorilla have won most of my battles and the Twighlight Troll has pitched in as well. My strategy has always been to use the time in between tournaments to improve the troops. Despite having no ultra-rares, I can throw a level 15 Super rare against each element combination that has the best match-up possible.

I looked through your list and it looks like we only used the same creature in round 3, but after round 20, my record was 20-5, virtually the same. Just goes to show you, there are many ways to successfully win a battle. I have made it to round 27 ( 3 losses so far to Nightmare) and my record is now 26-14, so I've managed to get in quite a few more battles.

I looked through your list and it looks like we only used the same creature in round 3, but after round 20, my record was 20-5, virtually the same. Just goes to show you, there are many ways to successfully win a battle. I have made it to round 27 ( 3 losses so far to Nightmare) and my record is now 26-14, so I've managed to get in quite a few more battles.

My record is currently 21-12. Can't complain about that, but I know how easily it can all turn around with 10-12+ tries on a single round. I was moving swiftly along through the Noelephant tournament until I hit a patch where I literally went 6-30 or something like that on rounds 25-30. I really hope that doesn't happen here. It is so frustrating and feels like such a waste of time.

It all depends on how much you wanted this wolverine otherwise there's always other tournaments/creatures in the future .....

As to the game...always use the animals that you've trained in the side battleground. They will always win your battles for you...not just follow blindly what others have in their army. Use other ppl winners as a guide only and choose the 1 closest in elements (I rely solely on my own past battle records and have no problem winning a tournament -- I have no epics SR or UR)

I have had good luck against the ultra rares in this tournament, 2 losses before taking out the Treasure Toucan, 2 losses before taking out the Emerald Dragon and beat the Ruby Razorback on the first try. My problems have been with Nightmare in round 27 (5 losses) and the Hippogryph in round 29 (8 losses). Good Luck to all, at least there is plenty of time left.

I lost 4x against the toucan and just won now on the 5th time, which is not too bad. I always find these last levels are the hardest (obviously) and I tend to lose a bunch of times to multiple animals, so I'm expecting to get snagged later on as well.

My good first half with a 75% win rate did NOT last. I'm now at 24-13 with 6 more wins needed, including the dreaded >L15 Emerald Dragon that they never fail to throw at us, and the Ruby Razorback. Got through the Toucan at least, though it took 3 tries.

Rounds 11-20 were 10-2.

Unicorn if you have it... otherwise I would recommend Nature-Fire (Vinotaur, Present Pheasant). Any strong Nature is a good choice, but stay away from one with Electric or Earth.

Third day of battling complete. Based on the first two days, I thought I would be done by now. However, the last few creatures have been putting up a good fight and my third day's record was 3-17 (1 loss in round 27 was during day 2). My overall record is now 29-29. It was a rough ending but my troops finally managed to defeat the Winter Wolverine and add a 13th egg to my storage. Final tally 30 wins and 30 losses.

The 8 losses in round 29 tied my worst against any opponent in any tournament and the 6 losses in round 30 was the most I have ever had in the final round. Just the luck of the draw (or Random Number Generator :rolleyes:). Good Luck to all those still battling.

Given the two choices you list, I would use the Toy Poodle. Beware that round 19 is also a Water/Nature creature as is the final prize at round 30. Good Luck.

Beat Pegasus on the 5th try. My record is now 24-23. I think it's most likely that I'll end up worse than breaking even. The first two tournaments I kept track of, I was right around 30-30 and then for the Noelephant, it was more like 30-44 or something, which was much worse. I hope that all the tournaments aren't getting harder.

So when I started this tournament I wasn't to excited about it. With all the fails I have had at getting a menoram I didn't really care if I made it through this in time (starting to loose interest in the game). I usually start these tourneys on day one and battle every hour. On everyone so far it's come down to the last day before I win. I end up loosing twice as many battles as I win and always end up stuck on 1 or 2 tough ones for a day or so. But this time I didn't really care to put that much effort I to it and I got through it the fastest out of them all and I only lost 3 times on 3 different animals?? Crazy right.

Dont know if its a glitch or luck but i was able to go through this tournament easily than the rest.. i was stuck at the toucan for few rounds but after that i am able to defeat the rest of the animals easily..

Even on the emerald dragon and ruby razorback.. i defeated both of them on the first try! I'm really happy that i'm able to get the winter wolverine and finish the tournament this early than before!! Normally i would be stuck on those round and wont be able to make it in time to win the tournament animals.. i refused to speed or use ultimate attack so i dont get most of the animals

It actually makes the most sense to keep using the same animal if it's the best match-up you have. Your chance of a crit is determined by the level, rarity, and elements of your chosen animal against the opponent, so switching to something with different elements or a lower level is actually not going to help. (Yes, you might get lucky, but you might get lucky faster by sticking with your optimal animal.)

Now, mentally, it can be hard to stick with a 'losing' animal but it's really the best strategy statistically.

I checked my records to see how I beat Ruby last time and I used an ultimate. Any tips???? AUGH.

One of the Electric-Water super rares would have the same chance as the Steamtrunk... you can also try Sea Drake. Also, Toucan or Retriever if you have either of those. I wouldn't do Water-Earth or Water-Nature due to Gem's strength over Nature and Earth.

You want to use your best creature that has a Water Element but not a Nature element. That is Electric/Water, Dark/Water, Water/Earth or Water/Fire. Pick your highest level Super Rare that meets one of these criteria. Level it up if you can and keep battling. You'll take it down eventually. Good Luck.

Vinotaur (fire attack) has won Emerald for me in the early days. I won my first tournament without LightningLeopard or any Lightning hybrid. So it can be done.. My Rainquin lvl 10 beat RubyRazorback and I love my Rampage lvl 10 -- 2 musthaves and of course plus Vinotaur and ASloth -- all of which every beginner has in their army. Together with the single elements you can win any tournament. Gd luck :)

The strong elements against Emerald would be dark, fire and gem. Nightmare, Ember Bear, Chimpala, Twilight Troll, Pegasus proved to work against Emerald.

I finally got victory over the emerald dragon with my fire glider, im now on the last level against the wolverine. And like you apart from the emerald dragon hiccup I've also found it a touch easier. Thanks for your advice :)

see now, the toucan stopped me getting the ampeater last time (which im annoyed with because its the better looking electric/rock hybrid imo) but this time it was dead in one hit.. used exactly the same creature both times also, the Santa Claws i believe and the same level, its so stupid that those situations occur where common sense dictates i should have got the ampeater when the 2/3 tournaments that toucan was ****ed 1st try and yet on ampeater there was just no getting through it

And I agree with you about the ultimate. I've never used one and up until now I've never had a problem winning a tournament. I'm on round 27 and just lost again for about the sixth time using a level 15 skeletal dragon. Since I started playing this game I've done nothing but prepare my forest for tournaments and battling. Leveling up many animals to level 15 and I feel like I should be putting in all of this time and effort so that I DONT have to spend gems to win these things.

I did an experiment on this tournament...here is what I found....for the first few days I was doing both the battles and the tournament. But I started to wonder if the critical hits I was getting in the battles was lowering my odds for getting them in tournaments. The first few days were aweful...took me to Friday just to get to round 6. Then I stopped the battles and now I'm on round 27 with no ultimate hits. Stopping the battles helped me get more criticals in the tournament. I have no idea if it's just luck or coincidence but it sure is working!

I haven't had a chance to count losses this tournament, but I know it's been a LOT LOT more than usual (the curse of being level 40 now perhaps?)!!! I had at least 5 levels that needed 6-8 tries and many levels (almost all) that needed 3-4 tries, it's been crazy and I've used quite a few gems unfortunately. I still have 3 levels left and it's nearly bedtime for me :(

So, I started off decently well. Ironically the thing that gave me the most trouble was the wolverine itself. I may be off by a loss or two (ie. I have lost more than I wrote down) but otherwise I should be pretty close. Not all my fighters are level 15 but I have no idea how people out there have more even win-loss ratios - that's never been the case for me. At least not so far. So people going "I had twenty wins in a row and now I lost ten :(" kinda makes me laugh.

A Critical Hit can happen at any time. The matchup of the elements in your creature vs. your opponent, rarity and level, determine the odds of getting a Critical Hit, but no matter how poor the match-up, you always have some chance to get one.

Thanks so much :D And completed it with no gem/treasure animals. It can be done. I really love my toy poodle, even though I'm a cat person lol. My toy poodle literally kick butt, as with some of my commons and rares. Made notes on my best fighters along with what I won with against the gem/treasure animals.

This is frustrating... Twice now, I have beaten an opponent,mgone about the rest of the game and everything saves except the defeat, so I have to battle again, but this time I lose... So I waste gems trying to do it again... Anyone else having this issue?

So, I started off decently well. Ironically the thing that gave me the most trouble was the wolverine itself. I may be off by a loss or two (ie. I have lost more than I wrote down) but otherwise I should be pretty close. Not all my fighters are level 15 but I have no idea how people out there have more even win-loss ratios - that's never been the case for me. At least not so far. So people going "I had twenty wins in a row and now I lost ten :(" kinda makes me laugh.

Winter Wolverine Tournament (30W/46L)


I had even W/L in the first two tournaments I kept track of (Thanksgibbon in early November and Treebra... can't remember when that one was, early December maybe). Then in the Noelephant tournament, I think I ended up 30-44 or something like that. This one, I'm at 29-39 plus 5 losses so far on the last round... so just about as bad. So I'm thinking perhaps the tournaments are getting harder. But, I also know it varies widely for each player and doesn't make a lot of sense.

FWIW I have no level 15's... all mine are level 10. It doesn't seem like it makes much difference though, from reading others' results.

And I'm done! Finally! Best the Wolverine on my 6th try - sped my Unicorn out of the breeding den since my Electric animals kept losing and finally won with it. Now the Unicorn is right back to Chuthlu fails, but at least the tournament is done.

My final record is 30-43, with my worst round being 15 tries against the Ruby. This is very similar to my final record in the Noelephant tournament, and worst than my previous two 6 day tournaments, which were both about even.

Stuck on the ruby razor for both the tournament and the battlegrounds all day!! So frustrated. No treasure animals to use either despite breeding for them for weeks now.

Yeah, I've seen people one-shot things with commons. Sometimes I choose my lvl 15 super-rares over my lvl 10 ultra-rares and that seems to work all right, too, so I have no clue how much level factors into it. It all seems wildly based on luck anyway, with the last ten or so levels having far lower chances at getting a crit. I'm not really surprised at my win-loss record here because it's been about similar in the other tournaments I've been in. It seems I had a relatively easier time in the first 20 levels this time (losing at most maybe 3 times in a row to a single animal) but like always the losses added up more heavily later on in the tournament.

Luck you. I've tired frostfang level 15 about 12 times..I've wasted so much time on this lol oh well. I don't think I will be trying for another tournament. It's just too frustrating.

Vinotaur (fire attack) has won Emerald for me in the early days. I won my first tournament without LightningLeopard or any Lightning hybrid. So it can be done.. My Rainquin lvl 10 beat RubyRazorback and I love my Rampage lvl 10 -- 2 musthaves and of course plus Vinotaur and ASloth -- all of which every beginner has in their army. Together with the single elements you can win any tournament. Gd luck :)

Pretty optomistic :/ I did get past Emerald after six tries with Vinotaur, and Ruby has had seven goes against my Glacier Gryffin - I am definitely not winning this tourney.
