Expanded but can't cut

I did my first expansion and it opened a new square. It appears to be full of trees, but I can neither cut any of them, nor move into the square. When I hit "expand" again to check, it is clearly already done. I didn't know if this was a bug or just something I am not doing right. Any help would be appreciated.

Force close your game. Then start it again. This does the trick in general. If you expended into a plot that requires RP cross check that you have enough of them.

Thanks, I had the points, it just wasn't letting me DO anything on the area I'd already qualified for. Force close worked.
