This is for people thinking into buying the 400 gems item, ill try to explain the nature of the item as I see it

Facts:
It drops random, but FIXED bundles.
It will stop dropping items on January 5 after that you can store it. -- Drops have now been removed and this item is now a decoration! -PS
You can buy one (And only ONE) for 400 gems, but if you finish your Christmas quests, you can get an additional one

If TL decides to make the Pile a permanent drop item, then at least the players level 15+ , who invested 5 Golden Nuggets ( that most don't have ) in this quest, could benefit from it!
Hopefully TL will recosider!

Yes, you get 15 coins when an items cannot be placed in your inventory. Kind of interesting you can get 15 coins for an Ornate Block :p

These bundles are pretty disappointing. No burning embers, no alicorn parts, nothing really rare that people work hard for months to get and still come up empty handed. Considering the Pile of Gifts doesn't give you anything special, and it only works for a limited time (10 collections at best), I can't honestly say it's worth 400 gems. It's not even worth half that in my humble opinion.

No you're not a nerd b/c I was doing the same thing just in my head (well out loud cuz that's how I think) but anyway. I also find it EXTREMELY and CRUELLY ironic that (stick w/me here) we need gold nuggets in order to get through Mission 5 Golden Rings, to get to/through the next 4 missions all to get a GRAND PRIZE that gives out bundles that INCLUDE GOLD NUGGETS. Trying really hard not to have a conniption fit right now, b/c having a brain aneurysm right now would just ruin everything.

And again TYSVM to all those who were either really lucky or really well stocked, or used a whole lot of gems (or any combo of the above) and then acted like total rock stars by walking the rest of us through it JUST B/C YOU COULD and therefore wanted to. BTW...Just wanted to let you all know that the collection time is a total of 44 hours--not 48! I bought my pile of presents right when it became available just after the update came out (3:00 Eastern for me). Today I made my first collection at 11:00 a.m. -- 44 hours later. Must be the TL "day" of 22 + 22 to get to the 44 hours.

I got the golden gift -- 1 golden nugget, 1 golden apple, 15 coins (because I'm maxed on golden eggs), and 5 trade tickets. I am happy with the trade tickets!

Gosh, I loved the Christmas trees last year! Among other desirable prizes, I recall getting three expansion permits.

I wasn't so lucky. it seemed like I'd typically get a log, or one energy (which I had to use to get it) I did buy many of the for-coin trees and only a few of the gem trees... my gem pockets were not that deep :(

This reward is kind of meh for me. It's not horrible, and definitely better than the lousy Christmas trees last year. But I was expecting something really exciting and special. If the duration was one year (next Christmas) instead of just until January, it would be more fair against the time and resources investment.

But, to me, it's not even worth the effort and supplies which was put into it! I love the Bountiful Table from Thanksgiving. Drops complete feasts every 2 days--hopefully, forever. But to put so much time, energy, and resources into something which only drops for a couple of weeks is ridiculous! TL is pushing it, if they're wanting to keep long-time players! :mad:

I think many people spent lots of gems to speed this adventure up. The presents would be great for players at the lower levels who still need lots of beams and blocks and animals, trees, .... But ironically those players are less likely to finish this in time (because they don't have enough resources ...)

It would have been great if
The pile of gifts was permanent OR
The pile of gifts was not permanent, but would give daily OR
the gifts were something everybody could need, like white alicorn, energy crates, everything that usually costs gems.

My favorite is option 3 ;) I think I would even make an in-app purchase to get it.

I would like to get trade tickets or some higher level beams, alicorns parts, energy, gems, Christmas decorations like the snow man or the walls, gates. I'm maxed out on all blocks and I wouldn't mind higher level pastes. I sort of knew from the begin that I would not really get back what I put into it but I'm running out if things to do ,so I like a quest. I do wish the pike could be stored for next year , I'm running g out of room to hide stuff.

Many IOS players are experiencing this wall problem, but it is very strange that a few IOS players' walls are fine. My device is an iPad Air, and my walls are not functioning properly. Since they reported a fix, I purchased a few more to see if they would work, but there was no change. Several players have stated that they deleted and re-installed the game, but the problem still remains.

It was reported that the walls are operating properly for those playing on an Android device.

But the weirdest thing is they do see the right line-up in my kingdom in their systeem, but I'M not! (they send a picture of how it looks, and indeed, that's how it's meant to be. But on my Ipad no way, still the old faults...).

None of TL games can be played on a PC. They are only for IOS or now Android devices.

However, considering how much energy and resources were put into it, let's consider the following points, and then we will see if it was worth the effort, at least for the lower level players:

Yes it is fun in a very expensive sort of way ( just do the math) , and no I am not disappointed by the Gifts or the pile. I am maxed on almost everything except the Golden apples and expansion permits, which I gladly trade for, and those new Christmas decoration that cost gems, and I already bought some.

I am disappointed by TL being unfair to those who invested in this Goal, worked spent energy, unavailable resources, to finally get almost nothing!
Yes Ironically the Lower level players, who most benefit from this pile, won't be able to collect from it, as much as higher level players.
This is my take on this whole pile of .....gifts.

I'll say it.... I'm disappointed. I don't think that the benefits of finishing or taking part in the quest even came close to being worth the time and energy and depletion of resources to get them. I think that TL was factoring in the thrill and excitement of taking part in and completing a quest, because across the boards....

I am disappointed by TL being unfair to those who invested in this Goal, worked spent energy, unavailable resources, to finally get almost nothing!
Yes Ironically the Lower level players, who most benefit from this pile, won't be able to collect from it, as much as higher level players.
This is my take on this whole pile of .....gifts.

nah, that's just my wishful thinking! I don't get any secret inside knowledge! I was just thinking/hoping that decorating our kingdoms with faerie lights, given we have faeries now, would be really nice.

On a slightly different note, I started playing City Story and depending on whether you are in the game during the day or night, your city changes and goes from day to night with you! it's totally cool and would be awesome to have this in CS. I've often felt sorry for the characters who never actually get to sit down, go to their houses or get any sleep ever! lol :) maybe they should wear pedometers and you get a reward whenever they reach a milestone of steps!


oh, and I think I'm winning the prize so far for drops. Today was my second collection and I got a few coins (wasn't quick enough to see how many) and 5 sap. I wasn't going to post as I didn't want to be responsible for you hurting yourselves falling off your chairs in laughter. what's that saying... you win some you lose some.... I'm not sure whether there was anything else, I didn't see the black box saying a maxed item, but seeing Jennerwein1's post above, maybe I got something else I was maxed on. I have two piles of gifts one I bought for 400 gems and one I did the quests for, I am very disappointed with the drops, I have had a total of five drops, three from the one I bought with gems and two with the one I did the quests for. I thought the drops would be on a sequence meaning we would all get one of each prize but this isn't the case it is totally random, from one pile I have received two path and tower packages the small packages and a beam package and the other two beam packages, meaning from five drops in total I have received 2 festive path and towers (which I hate) and three beams, what a complete waste of time and energy, two hours until another drop, I have fingers crossed it will be a good one, will be keeping credit card in wallet TL unless you come up with better goodies.

I so agree, midsom. I am disappointed and getting a little angry too. how hard would it has been for everyone to get the same drops, maybe not in the same order but everyone should get the same things. tired of getting lousy drops.

at level 22, with an unbuilt tavern, there was no way for me to complete the tasks in time allotted. i regrettably bought the pile of gifts. then I got caught in a.gem trap, and had the temerity to complain to customer service about the gem trap, receiving no assistance. lousy lousy drop since then, just as the accelerated one was lousy.

seems extremely unfair to me. now I am wondering if I should even continue playing, after already spending quite a few real dollars, because I may just have one of those kingdoms that just doesn't give stuff up, and don't want to be four more months down the road still waiting for a shard to drop.

such a limited time , with drops on regular intervals, it would have been so easy for TL to make sure that everyone ended up getting all the different drops. bah humbug!

There are a few goals that use these much later in the quest line or for seasonal events, but they're primarily used for trades. There's a trade that will give you gems for a size-able gold investment.

I think I got a feasts bundle. I was still half asleep so my memory if fuzzy, it had like at least one of each of the three basic feasts; simple, hearty and sweet. not great but not bad either

But after a while, IMHO, the size is already at its maximum, since the snowman only requires 1 slot/tile..

Hi, I asked the Community Managers (as requested) whether there are more bundles than the drops reported in post 1, or if there are other combinations still to come. I also asked whether the drops are the same regardless of whether or not you purchased the pile or were rewarded the pile for completing the event. Here is the response from TL:

Hi, I asked the Community Managers (as requested) whether there are more bundles than the drops reported in post 1, or if there are other combinations still to come. I also asked whether the drops are the same regardless of whether or not you purchased the pile or were rewarded the pile for completing the event. Here is the response from TL:

But after a while, IMHO, the size is already at its maximum, since the snowman only requires 1 slot/tile..
If taller, the snowman need to be bigger, that will requires more slots.. :D

I haven't gotten a single good drop yet, but I VERY much appreciate the effort to catalog all the possible drops. Mine may have stunk but it's great to see and get excited about what I might get in the future if my luck turns around. If I considered it rubbing salt in my wound, well then I just open the can of salt which is this thread. In other words, rather than suggest people stop sharing information, I just wouldn't read this thread and leave it to those who enjoy it. And kooky's contributions are totally invaluable. A LOT of work goes into keeping up with 1 event, and moderation of 1 forum, but kooky helps out with multiple TL forums and stays on top of all aspects of all those games.

What nonsense! Telling people not to post on a public forum because it offends or upsets your delicate sensibilities is a bit much. There is no offense in Kooky posting about her drops. What has Kooky got to do with your drops....nothing. She's a player like everyone else and like everyone else she has to take the bad with the good. She "worked hard for the piles and paid the gems too" just like you did, to begrudge her a good drop is ridiculous and childish. Keep collecting from your piles and I'm sure you'll get a favorable drop before the event is over. I got an awesome drop from my first collection, which I don't mind telling you but I'm sure I'll get some dudes too. Bad with the good, it's part of the game.

A bit off topic but speaking of gift drops does anyone know where the thread is that lists the drops from last years Xmas trees? I don't know if the trees will be the same or not but was just curious. I hope if TL is releasing trees to us this year they release tomorrow as Thursday is update day and that is Xmas. So here's hoping for tomorrow. My pile of Xmas gifts has been ok one golden the one with the apple tree the iron silver one and a wooden beam one. Like the pile but so glad I didn't spend 400 gems for a second pile. :)

Actually, I feel I've done pretty good so far. I've received two other drops that I was very happy with.....winter walls and decorations was in one drop and the other drop gave me a manticore and a maple tree. For this one, I just look at it as receiving some things I didn't have before and I can always use silver at the level I'm currently at. :) I hope you soon get some drops that are beneficial to you.

My last collection I didn't get anything. Nothing popped up and it shows it been reset for 2 days. I'm so mad I feel like quitting. First the jack o lantern thing, and now this. Won't buy gems ever again that's for sure.

Did you see anything new in your inventory? If you were already maxed on whatever you received you probably would not get a pop up.

I have received both decoration sets three time (I have two piles of ***) so I have six lamp posts and I have received two bundles of beams and my best bundle yet, the stew, flour and pasta, at least I can use that one, and some people actually have a petition to keep this thing permanent. I wonder if it is worth the energy to tap it.

Man, I'm jealous. I've only collected 3 sets of the winter decorations. I'm hoping I will get enough sets to let me place one lamp post every stagger or so between the taverns and the Knights' Hall so the boys can get home safely in the evenings.

You would think since its a limited collection time that the drops would be just one of each available drop not in any particular order. But people are getting multiples of the same things over & over! That just doesn't seem quite right somehow :(

My third gift was the golden one with trade tickets. I know you can be really unlucky but I am kind of glad it isn't just a specific set of gifts you get, this way it is a real surprise.

I gotten two of the gold gift pile and two of the Christmas decorations with the tower ,,, I want the snowman ,, at least with the gold one you get 5 trade tickets .. I'm max on nuggets and eggs

Pretty sure Snowman does not drop from bundles, If you want one do what I did and buy it raw

I got the snowman from a pile of gifts bundle, you can see it in my Kingdom. It's, along with the Fire Faerie Statue, the only decoration I have. I loved the snowman, so I'm realy glad I got it.

Out of 5 collections, I received 3 golden bundles. Probably shouldn't complain about receiving one of the valuable bundles...but..it's so boring :( we don't even have proper uses for golden eggs and apples yet so they feel rather white-elephantish to me. Was really hoping for the animals or snowman.
