They say there's a heaven for those who will wait
Some say it's better but I say it ain't
I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints
Sinners are much more fun...
You know that only the good die young

No Xmas animals yet? Tired of the saints in the Christmas animal thread telling you we sinners are not allowed to complain that this 100% odds/luck-driven event has given us the cold shoulder? Wish that your dedication and effort and money/gems spent on speed breeding would actually GET you somewhere in this game? Come laugh with the sinners about how absurd FFS breeding odds are here in the Bah Humbug thread!

ETA: We have every right in the world to be disappointed in not getting any Xmas animals. Or unicorns or other animals for that matter. The purpose of this thread is to allow us who sin by expressing discontent to vent our feelings without bringing down the "saints" - the lucky (or rich) and therefore happy folks. Just as I would never ask them to stop expressing their happiness at their luck, I respectfully ask that they stop asking us to stop expressing our frustration and disappointment. We have even gone the extra mile to move our discussion out of that thread so as not to bring you down. PLEASE afford us the same courtesy in this thread by not telling us our emotions are invalid.

I will keep a running tally but right now I am at:

32 fairy ferrets
3 six-hour fails
0 X-mas animals

Reasons this thread should not be locked or merged with the Christmas animals thread:
This thread is distinct from the Christmas animals thread in that this is about NOT managing to breed the animals as opposed to breeding them.
Our sinful posts expressing our disappointment / bitterness / loss of interest in the game / etc. are upsetting the happy folks in the Xmas animals thread. Therefore it makes sense to pull our little Hell out of that thread into another so as to not rain on their parade. This way, they can relish their good luck without having to be brought down by the disappointment of the unlucky. Many of them have expressed their desire for us sinners to shut up or go away. With this thread, their wish is granted! Without leaving us unlucky ones homeless on top of being unlucky.
In this thread we are also discussing the odds-based nature of the game and how that relates to these animals. That is the sort of discussion that is routinely culled from threads about specific animals. When I tried to discuss that in a Big Picture thread, that was locked for being too broad. But that thread covered a LOT more subjects than this one. This one is much, much, much more specific. So this I believe is the Goldilocks thread - not too specific (as in, about one animal) to discuss breeding odds, not too broad.
Just as the "No Box" Club on the CS forum was (and still is) allowed to exist (not be locked or merged into the event thread), there is no reason this thread should not be treated the same and allowed to stand. It is, in principle, the same thing, for another TL game, on the same forum. To allow it in CS but not in FFS would be blatant hypocrisy. And I have faith that the staff here are too good at what they do to be hypocrites.

Just a thought on what TL could do to make breeding for limited animals such as these a little less painful to the inevitable group of us who get bad RNG rolls dozens and dozens of times, without having to mess with the sacred odds in the game:

Have 3 (simultaneous) quests:
1. Breed fire and nature 30 times without getting a Reindeer. The reward for completing the quest is a Reindeer.
2. Breed fire and nature 30 times without getting a Toy Poodle. The reward is a Toy Poodle.
3. Breed the reindeer or poodle with nature and/or fire 30 times without getting a Santa Claws. The reward is a Santa Claws.

That way if you try 60 times, your efforts pay off one way or another. Having the game be ENTIRELY luck-based really sucks the fun out of the game for those who inevitably don't get the luck. If TL wants to keep us playing, but without changing the odds based on how many attempts you've made (which has been suggested by myself and others for MONTHS and TL never even acknowledged we repeatedly asked for this feature no less gave it to us), this is a way to do that. Not allowed a group of players to get these animals despite many of us being dozens of times more dedicated to the game than some of the lucky ones who get them all in two days is disenfranchising some of the game's biggest supporters like myself. I've invested a lot into this game and this forum. But if I don't get the set of Xmas animals, I will likely delete this game, find another and not look back.

I have tried since July to get the Crystal Unicorn and still can't get that. So I get what you're saying. How about adding this goal: After 250+ fails trying for the Unicorn, you get a Unicorn as a prize?

TL would NEVER do that for Crystal, that animal is too OP to be giving like this, or you breed it or you buy it.

I tried a couple times to get Crystal, but I recommend one thing, breed 4 elements but just forget about Crystal, focus on a combo that gives you new animals, Crystal just put "away", I got my first one by even don't remember that Unicorn was a possible outcome, and in the second time I breeded for new animals and didn't want a Crystal, normally the game gives me animals whenever I don't want them, or I don't remember that they exists.

I understand why you're frustrated but I have to say, I think this is a bit extreme.

The game isn't out to get you. Plenty of people have now joined you in saying that they also don't have Christmas animals. The Christmas animals have a much longer available time than the other week-limited animals did, and nobody needed to start their own thread because they didn't get those.

I did get 2 of the 3 Christmas animals... I think my biggest problem with anything that you've said is the implication that those of us celebrating getting the animals on that thread are somehow rubbing it in your face.

That way, all the lucky ones can gloat all they like in this thread and not have to worry about us losers bringing them down.

It's not "gloating." You've got to be kidding me. I am beyond frustrated with how badly my breeding has gone in the last couple months. I didn't get the Cold Turkey and I only got one of the three Earth-Nature fall animals. I'm still missing a good number of super rares and I'm probably going to have to resign myself to never getting them if I don't spend tons of money on the game, which I refuse to do. I got lucky enough to get a Reindeer in my first few attempts. I'm entitled to celebrate that and be excited about it, without being made to feel guilty because there are others who did not get it. So is everyone else that got one.

I'll give you, I cannot stand the posters that must be spending thousands of dollars on this game who speed breed so that they can get every new animal instantly and then post them instantly like it's some sort of competition. It's obnoxious. But most of us in the Christmas thread got the animals just by being lucky and most of us have had bad luck in plenty of other areas as well.

If I was going to start a thread about anything being unfair... it would be that so many people got stuck for 20-30 rounds on the Thanksgibbon and Treebra tournament and weren't able to finish. I think that's a terrible game glitch and one that is totally unfair, especially as the tournaments do involve some skill in choosing fighters. The Xmas animals haven't even been out a week yet. You've still got over 2 weeks. And there are now many other posters sharing that they haven't gotten theirs yet. And many of us that did get one still can't get the other (Santa Claws doesn't seem to count as I truly believe the odds on this one are much better than the usual super rare).

I like you as a poster and respect your opinions on this game which are generally similar to mine... I do sincerely hope that you will be sticking around. I do think this thread is over the top, though. The nature of this game is such that unless you spend $$$$$ you will not get every animal. Maybe not even close to every animal. If you can't accept that, you probably shouldn't play this game (I say this generically... for anyone who is playing).

((((Not that I enjoy defending TL and for the record, I'm not. Not at ALL. But, you know as well as I do that they will never give players the animals for failing a certain number of times. I've talked about how there should be a unicorn mercy clause where your odds to breed it get better the longer you've been playing without one... but that will never happen either. If people knew they'd eventually get the animals, only the dumbest few that HAVE to have them instantly would still spend money on the game and everyone else would play for free. That would be freaking awesome, but it's never going to happen. I'd love to see more "fair" phone games that truly are "free to play" and just offer bonuses for those that spend money, but TL is not that company and I don't even know that a non-greedy, bleed them for everything they've got game company even exists anymore. If you can't take that, don't play these games at all. I've already decided I'm never starting on another one. I'll stick with FFS until I can't take it anymore, but I already know I'm not interested in the eventual frustration that starting another one would bring. There's more to life than phone games.))))

(((((Please don't take this the wrong way. I'm not trying to judge anyone or make you feel bad for being super frustrated. I know, it sucks. I also know that it's only going to continue and will never get better :( )))))

I love that idea! And I'm sorry the unicorn has eluded you. *slides a frosty mug down the bar to xxxe*

readysetgo888, when did I say the game is "out to get [me]"? I started this thread to commiserate with others who have bad luck. That's all! I'm not demanding the game change. I'm not even crying unfair. I'm just saying it SUX to be one of the unlucky ones and maybe we'll feel better about it if we have a place to discuss that without being attacked for it as we were in teh other thread. That's all!

When the odds of something are 10% or whatever, if a lot of people are trying for that 10%, a number will get it right away, a lot will get it in around 10 tries, and a number may never get it despite trying 100 times. That's the way odds work. The idea behind this thread is that those of us whose attempts happen to fail many, many times can talk about that. If it didn't happen to me, it would happen to another player. It's happening to a lot of us. And my posts about how it sux in the main Xmas animals threads were met with a lot of "eff off / shut up / leave this thread alone" type comments so I did just that! So which is it, should I continue to rain on the lucky people's parade or should I pull my comments out so as not to bring them down? Or should I eff off and die?

Posts like that are going to get this thread locked in a heartbeat. Is that your purpose - to censor us even more than TL does? Do you realize that if you do, we'll just come back to the other Xmas thread and bring the mood down there? Is that what you want?

If it is just that one ill-chosen word that is objectionable, I'm changing that now. ETA: looks like I had actually already changed it before you finished typing your post. I'm sorry if that language offended.

And the "No Box Club" thread in TL's Castle Story forum was the inspiration for this. Folks there were kind enough to let that thread thrive without hating on the unlucky ones commiserating there. I had high hopes the same could happen here. But now it looks like we won't even hit page 2 now. Thanks.

I don't have a lot of time to reply, so apologies for the quickness.

I think sometimes your posts DO come off like you believe the game is out to get you. Absolutely no offense intended, that's just my observation.

I don't remember anyone except maybe like one person telling you not to complain in the Christmas thread. And after you started posting, a lot of other people shared that they also couldn't get the Christmas animals so you should have felt less alone.

I am not trying to get this thread locked, but I doubt it has a long life anyway based on what I've seen.

I also will say that I don't believe it's necessarily appropriate for there to be a separate thread just for disgruntled posters every time there is a limited animal, which of course, some players will never get because that's how the game works. I don't know if it's just a worse feeling not to get these guys because they are Christmas or what, but there's bad luck all over this place in this game and I don't think it deserves its own thread every time.

And you did have several posts that seemed to be aimed at those of us who got one or more Xmas animals and shared our excitement, with the general tone that they were trying to rub it in your face or make you feel bad. Definitely not. Just excited because the game is mean to us most of the time too... once in a while, we get lucky.

More later, if the thread hasn't been locked yet. FYI mods, if my single post is the only reason that you're considering deleting this thread, just delete it and don't lock the whole thread. There, hopefully that helps.

The nature of free to play games is to create a gambling type game of chance to addict players. That is the target audience. FFS is just like playing craps, seven will come up more than any other number which is why it is so profitable for casinos. TL does not need to cheat players because the odds are so staggering by design. They simply need to use some psychology and questionable coding and they will slowing get us to spend money. That is the goal of this game, to part players with currency, it was designed for that sole purpose. So when you consider all of these complaints, arguments, folks asking why TL is not listening, or why so many animals, or whatever, consider what I just said. It is us completionists that want everything they release. And it is us that continues to pay them to complete our collections, which by design we will never be able to do. Which is why we keep paying and complaining. So please look within yourselves and ask if you are being entertained for the time/money you are putting into the game. If you say yes, then be happy that the game is providing you with that service, even if partially so. If you say no then that is something you need to work out on your own. TL did not create the game to cheat us, our need to have everything in the game does that without any help.
My two cents...

To be clear, I actually *AM* happy for those who have bred some or all of the Xmas animals. And I don't care to go through the Xmas thread again to find all the posts indicating displeasure at me (or me and others) expressing our discontent with not having bred any of them. Only one was an "eff off" type comment but there were others suggesting our comments were unwanted.

And while I still do believe it is possible that the game changes the odds for players based on whether they fit in the spender or free player group (as I know other games actually do), I absolutely do NOT believe anyone in TL/S8 has ever gone into my personal game and tweaked my personal odds, or those of any other player. If any post I made previously makes it sound like I thought that, then I apologize for whatever I said that was construed that way; it was not my belief or intent.

And now I no longer care if this thread gets locked. It could have been a lot of fun. But now the entire first page is full of argument and accusations and negativity towards the idea. It is not turning out as I had hoped. I guess hoping it would be even as close to genial and fun as the CS thread it is based on was a pipe dream. RIP my dream of a place we could express our disappointment without being attacked for it. I will NOT try again.

ETA: I am actually ASKING that this thread please be locked and put to rest. It has turned into the OPPOSITE of what I intended. And I am OUTTA here.

Closing thread as per OP's request.

There is already a Frustrated Breeders thread (http://forums.storm8.com/showthread.php?75489-Frustrated-breeders&p=1008130&viewfull=1#post1008130) where you can continue discussions.
