Uses for large gems?

Is there ever any reason to have large gems other than crafting the dragons we have in the spell shop now? I keep getting red/green super rare fails all of a sudden, and I already have Ruby and Emerald dragons. Is there any reason I should raise and trade these fails for large gems to have on hand for future use or should I just sell them?

I recommend trading them just incase TL release something to do with gems in the future.

An added benefit of evolving these fails is getting bombs for mining. Then trade them for the gems. There's no down side to trading them for gems.
