Toucan down in two tries! First lost with Sloth, then won with Ocean Owl - first hit was critical.

Yay! I don't think I've used my Ocean Owl before in a tournament... He'll be my go-to Toucan fighter now. I also noticed that they have the same exact wings, lol.

I have about the same ratio as you, 22 wins and 19 losses. I feel like it's still very beatable, just as long as I don't get stuck a long time on more than a couple levels.

Last tournament I beat early on Saturday. I've been playing this one the exact same way so I'll be curious to see if this one takes a lot longer or not. If each round takes an average of 3 tries, I'd finish sometime around dinner tomorrow (so a few hours longer). That's probably about what I expect at this point.

The first tournament I tried was a disaster as I picked at random (well I put a bit of thought into it!), but thanks to the first post of this thread I'm doing really well with this one, so just wanted to say thanks very much for all the info :)

I'm at level 19 so far - only 3 loses (and 1 of them, was level 2 before I'd looked at this thread) - I've actually been really surprised that it has been so easy - I passed 14 levels with a critical on the first hit!!!!!!!

I've only used my cosmic pheonix, magmacore, thorilla, grassquatch, hydro yak, iciclaw and falconch (all level 10-13), so no gems (I've only just finished evolving my crystal unicorn and it is still a low level). I've been playing less than 2 months and I don't actually have a lot of the animals that other people have posted in their lists! I fear I may start to stuggle with later levels though!

It seems to me that this tournament they made all the animals the same difficulty to beat. I usually have very few losses early on, then later more losses than wins. But my relatively low win rate day 1 has only gone down to a 53% win rate for day 3. So I'm not worried any more. And Bambamstad and anyone else hovering at 50-60% win rates, don't give up hope!!!

My level 15 Cosmic Phoenix just lost to the round 28 Level 18 Emerald Dragon for the 7th time. I guess its payback for the last tournament when I got him in the first try. My record in this tournament is 27-23 so far.

So far I don't really have any complaints about how the tournament is going... I don't mind it taking 2-3 tries, it's only when it starts taking much longer that it really bothers me. I had one round last tournament that I was stuck on for 8 tries, that was the worst. I do expect it may take 6 tries in some of the last rounds, especially against the Unicorn and Emerald, since that's what happened to me last time, but at least I'm prepared for that so I shouldn't get too frustrated.

Good luck with the unicorn, it went down on the first try to my Cosmic Phoenix. Finally beat the round 28 level 18 Emerald Dragon with my level 15 Cosmic Phoenix on the 8th try. So I guess they balanced out.

The unicorn took me like five tries to beat, but I'm at level 28 (the emerald dragon) now. I anticipate he's going to give me difficulty since I don't really have a good counter to him, so I'm probably just going to have to roll the dice enough times until I get lucky.

I'm happy to post, I was a little worried it might come across as bragging...that is not my intent at all, just trying to help people with suggestions about what worked for me. So glad it worked for you too. My nemisis is coming up...the Emerald Dragon...I have never defeated him in any tournament without an ultimate hit....I have more time this go around since
I'm home on vacation so maybe I'll get lucky and my nightmare will take him down.

Beat the Treeba on the second try with a level 15 Aurora Pegasus. Managed to finish the tournament with 24 losses, much better than the 33 losses in the Thanksgibbon tournament. Other than the 7 losses I had on round 28, the last 6 rounds went well for me with only 10 losses. I hope that gives those of you still battling some extra hope and I wish you good luck.

Now I can concentrate on the avalanche of Fairy Ferrets that await me trying to breed a Reindeer.

I have lost to unicorn since last evening, playing every hour. Surely a level 15 nightmare should be able to get this done. It is interesting that in this tournament I have been using level 15 commons and winning. ThAt is until my unicorn hatched. Now I haven't won a round since. Have I been kicked up to a different level of crazyness?

I've had my Unicorn in both the last tournaments and haven't had any trouble until now....

I feel like it always takes me the most tries against Unicorn and Emerald in the tournaments. But yeah, it shouldn't be taking 15-20 tries or anything and I have unfortunately heard stories about that before. :( I really hope you beat it soon. Hope I do too! I'm about to try again in a few minutes.

I'm not sure if anyone else notice that Toucan is now weak to rock?!! Everytime I use toucan against a rock type, it's attack is weak? Am I missing something or did TL change rules again?? By the way, I'm at level 28 and just lost 15 times in a row, and most of my dark type are at level 14, think they also changed outcome on winning!!!

Yessss, 18 fails before Lillith, my Gargolem beat the emerald dragon!!!! Only for the next battle took another 14 fails to win. But all through those fails, I just beat the entire tournament WITHOUT using the ultimate move ONCE!!!! Ahhhh, soooo hard to do lol!!! In the end, I love Lotus, my Nightmare creature!!!! She did give me the most wins, then it was Ash my Jackalope, who was my second most used creature!!!

simpassoc - that sounds like exceedingly bad luck to me. I know it definitely took me at least 5-6 tries to get through unicorn and now I'm stuck on emerald dragon, so I think the odds for critting them is just generally relatively low.

I have a suspicion that the game is set up to just stick some players on a particular level. Maybe to test whether you WILL buy gems or not? I don't know. But I do know that you're not the first person that this has happened to - I saw it happen to others in the last tournament, and I'm worried that I may be one as well although I don't have near as many losses as you.

I'm not really sure how else to explain it. I've beat the Unicorn and Emerald in other tournaments before, usually takes 6 tries or so. I cannot imagine that the odds are the same in a case where you wind up losing so many times. Even if they are, it's terribly unfair for the game to be set up to allow someone to be able fail a single level for 20+ tries. Unfortunately I'm sure there's no "mercy" win that kicks in at any point.

At best, the game is insensitive, and at worse, deceitful (if it actually does "block" certain players from passing a level on some tournaments).

Stick with it! Don't give up. If it's just really bad luck, it may even out in the last few rounds and you'll likely even beat some on the first try. Either way PLEASE come back and tell us how the rest of the tournament winds up for you. I'd like to know if it is actually possible to be stuck on one level for 3 straight days. If so, I'm going to have some things to say about that.

Simpassoc, on the last tournament, it took me more than 20 tries & over 24 hrs to finally beat the Crystal Unicorn with my lvl 13 Skyger. Before beating it with the Skyger, I tried everything ( like you are ). I'm dreading the Unicorn this time, I still have the Troll to beat. I'm really sorry bc I know how defeating it feels to be on one battle for so long.

Hm. Well, that is lower than I am. I think it's fair for the game to be a little easier on lower levels because they can't be expected to have as many high level animals. I'm level 40 (max). Oh well, maybe you just have good luck!

simpassoc, if you've got the terrorier from the battleground, I managed to beat the Crystal Unicorn with my level 11 Terrorier (see below for my new results).

Now, I've meanwhile reached round 28. Here are my new results:

Round 20 lost 4 times with lv 9 Thorilla, lv 15 Ancient Sloth & lv 15 Armordillo (mostly using earth and once electric)
Round 20 won with lv 15 Ancient Sloth (1 strong & 1 crit earth)
Round 21 lost 2 times with lv 12 Rampage and lv 15 Armordillo (using earth and fire) while feeding my Magmacore
Round 21 won with lv 11 Magmacore (1 strong & 1 crit earth)
Round 22 lost with lv 14 Pandaffofil and lv 15 ancient sloth (all nature)
Round 22 won with lv 15 Ancient Sloth (2 strong & 1 crit nature)
Round 23 lost with lv 11 Magmacore and lv 15 Armordillo (all earth)
Round 23 won with lv 15 Ancient Sloth (2 strong & 1 crit earth)
Round 24 lost with lv 12 Rampage (stupidity, thought I was still on round 23) and with lv 15 fairy ferret (both all fire)
Round 24 won with lv 15 Fairy Ferret (1 crit & 1 strong fire)
Round 25 won with lv 11 Terrorier (1 strong & 1 crit dark)
Round 26 lost 6 times with lv 12 & lv 13 Hydro Yak, with lv 15 Fairy Ferret and lv 15 Ancient Sloth

I was getting really frustrated and put my lv 3 Vinotaur into the flower to raise that while wildly growing food for the Hydro Yak. I calculated how much food it would cost and most importantly time it would cost to raise the Vinotaur to level 15, The current Thanksgiving Gibbons deal looked great regarding the food, but then in the end...

Round 26 won with lv 13 Hydro Yak (2 crit nature)
Round 27 won with lv 12 Iciclaw (1 crit water)
Round 28 lost twice with lv 12 Terrorier (2 strong dark, 1 strong fire)

Will try on with the lv 12 Terrorier while growing food. Though, I'll rather take some more losses with the lv 12 Terrorier before spending the slowly gathered food on him too early. I'm also prepared to finish the last round with an ultimate hit, just to put an end to it and be able to do something else. Hope this helps. Oh, and because the account levels just got mentioned: I'm meanwhile on level 24 (due to the food growth). :-)

After about two more losses with my lv 12 Terrorier at Round 28, I decided to raise it to level 13 and on the following attempt:

Round 28 won with lv 13 Terrorier (1 strong fire, 1 strong dark & 1 crit fire)
Round 29 lost twice with the lv 11 Magmacore and once with my lv 12 Rampage (trying earth and fire)
Round 29 won with lv 12 Magmacore (1 strong & 1 crit fire)
Round 30 won with lv 15 Fairy Ferret (1 strong nature, 1 strong fire & 1 crit nature)

I only keep getting a bug when visiting other players' forests. Then suddenly all creatures, some habitats (or what you call each land piece) and pieces of decoration vanish - like it just happened again. Now I have to shut down and restart my device. That's a bit annoying.

I'm afraid, I can't give you suggestions on the Zapra, as I still have to beat the Emerald Dragon. Which user level does your child's account have? I was on player level 23 I think, when I met the Toucan and managed to beat him with my lv 15 ancient sloth on the second attempt (with only nature attacs).

I can't help with Zapra, but I was able to beat Toucan with lvl 12 Grassquatch if that helps your other account. Best of luck. :)

I beat the Zapra with a Level 15 Magmacore. Any of the Earth/Fire Super Rares would be your best bet.

I have a theory that the battleground and tourney animals do better in fighting than other animals of the same elements, rarity and level. I try to choose them first if everything else appears equal.

I was lucky to breed some rare and super rare creatures, though I didn't manage to breed the Cold Turkey. And instead of breeding the Pumpkin Panda or the Harvest Hedgehog while their gem goals were active, I bred the Unicornopia. My Magmacore needs 4800 apples to reach level 12. That's why I'm hesitating to raise the Terrorier to the next level (aside from still lacking about 3000 apples for that). It was so time consuming to get the Hydro Yak to level 13. Right now my playing consists of constantly growing peaches with an hourly break to battle the various enemies.

I would stick with the Magmacore and plant as many Power pears as you can in between rounds to see if you can level it up when you can. It can be frustrating to be stuck on one round for a number of battles but you have plenty of time to finish. Good Luck.

I say this because all my super rare fighters are only level 10... I seem to be having about the same level of success as everyone else with higher levels. I won the Thanksgibbon tournament pretty early, and should beat this one early too, though not quite as much.

I've been planning to raise some of my super rares (and some rares) to level 15, like the Magmacore, the Hydro Yak, the battleground trolls, the Terrorier and the still small Vinotour. I did level nearly all my basic element creatures to level 15 when I fought my way through the battleground. I just need to level up the Lightning Leopard and the Skyger. :)

The Unicorn and Emerald always take me several tries... Like 6 or so. Super rare dark-fire is best for Emerald, but you could also try dark-water or dark-electric super rare. Terrorier is a good choice though, I'm sure he will eventually get it. Good luck!

I was successful with my lv 11 Terrorier in that round. You might give it a try, too.

I think it was a mix, fire first and then two darks. Second hit was critical.

Took out Zapra19 with Lvl 4 Volcamel 2nd try on Account2. Rampage lost. Also manage to breed 2nd Unicorn with FGlider x Aquatter for this Account2.

Ironically this breeding pair was meant for Account1 (which is higher lvl but still Unicornless). When I saw the 45 hrs I actually jumped with joy thinking finally got a Unicorn for this account. Sigh! Also this Account1 which has been leading by 5 rounds to Account2 is now stuck at Emerald.

Meanwhile Account2 with my Lvl 12 Unicorn has blazed through last 4 rounds and overtaken Account1.

Sounds so much like the Tortoise and Hare race..lol

Thank you. I'm at 7 losses right now, 4 with my lvl 12 Ox, 1 with my lvl 15 Skyger, 1 with my lvl 11 Terrorier & 1 with my lvl 10 Thanksgibbon. The last 2 losses were the Ox. I guess I'll just stay with him awhile...eventually the Unicorn has to lose.

It took my level 14 Gargolem 8 tries to take out the Unicorn. Very annoying lol. I tried my level 11 Pegasus once and lost so went back to the Gargolem. I didn't have my Pegasus last tournament so decided to stick with the one that took out the Unicon last time. Ill most likely use the Gargolem for the Emerald too. I think that's my next battle since I just got past the Pumpkin Panda. Good luck! I know how frusterating it can be to lose over and over but luckily we still have plenty of time.

And I'm also done. I took down the Treebra on my first attempt with my lv 15 Fairy Ferret (1 strong nature, 1 strong fire & 1 crit nature). Though I won't breed it within the next hours. After the Falconth is done, I'll put the Pflanther on the nest, because I noticed in the breeding thread, that my Ocean Owl and my Vinotaur should make an ideal breeding pair for a special bird. :D

I beat the Emerald after just 3 tries... I was very surprised. Now I'm at one loss to the Zapra, but I think the last two rounds should be fairly easily as I have great fighters for both. Magmacore for Zapra and Unicorn for Treebra.

Thank you and congrats to you too. It's actually Aquatter and not Seahorse. Both FGlider and Aquatter are lvl 4 only and FGlider goes first. As I mentioned in my earlier post this combo is actually meant for my other account which is higher lvl but still unicornless. Was trying to breed Reindeer or OceanOwl (for future pairing for Toucan lol) and wrongly pick this pair. Anyway the income's good so no complaints lol.

p/s I also found out from breeding calculator about OceanOwl x Vinotaur being the only breeding pair for Toucan and has been trying to breed OceanOwl for quite sometime now but sadly no luck so far. Well good luck to us trying lol...

Griffin is the stronger choice! Sloth is weaker against Magmacore because Nature is weak to Fire.

Yes Nightmare is the strongest choice... it's actually the best possible choice in the game other than the Toucan (potentially). You could give the Toucan a few tries even at level 9, otherwise you're probably best just sticking with Nightmare.

I'm really sorry this is happening to you, I honestly believe that the game has glitched on you at this point. I would consider maybe turning your phone off and on a few times, and potentially uninstalling and reinstalling the app (I've never done this but I heard it can help with breaking people out of breeding ruts). Maybe that would help snap you out of this. It certainly seems like a glitch because there is no way a level 15 Nightmare should lose so many times to the Unicorn.

Try also Rainquin or other similar elements. My rainquin lvl 10 beat Magmacore where GGriffin lvl 11 fail. Most of my commons came through when all Super Duper Rares or Ultrarares fail. Gd luck..

I would give it a few attempts between each reinstall, because I do find it can take 6-8 attempts to beat it and you don't want to reset yourself if the game is programmed that way. But I do hope that once is the charm! Definitely let us know!

Which is why I was cautioning everyone not to get so cranky at a couple losses at the start because these kinds of things even out, but people tend to be somewhat reactionary.

Not that there aren't examples of incredibly good luck (GC5410 on the previous page) or bad luck (simpassoc and the unicorn). That's bound to happen when there are thousands of people playing a game of chance.

Oi! Anyone noticed the price of doing battle got jacked way up? Instead of 1,000 quid it is now 1,250 quid! TL doing what TL does best allowing you to make money they can take right back. Yes and I shall remind you my incredible lack of luck in the Thanksgibbon tourney, where I had 27 losses vs the Emerald Dragon (round 28) and was not able to beat it even though I had over 48 hrs for the last 3 rounds. It really felt like it was a bug, just impossible to win without an ultimate. So I feel your pain, simpassoc, I hope your final result will be different from mine.

On another note, I just beat the Emerald Dragon (also round 28) in this new tournament at my first try... I couldn't believe it. Now I have a chance to win my first tourney ever (could not make it in any of the previous ones...), but I'm not going to cheer until the final critical has fallen, because I learnt that you can never be sure to win.

Nightmare, Onyx OX, Cosmic Phoenix, and Thanksgibbon are the best choices of the ones you have listed. I would go with the highest level creature you have from that set. My favorite has been the Cosmic Phoenix to battle gem creatures but that is because I have at it at level 15 the longest. Good luck.

I just finished a few hours ago and something Surprising is that I beat the crystal unicorn on the first try with 2 critical hits in a row which has never happend to me before I also beat the Emerald Dragon on my 3rd try! I would like to thank "readysetgo888" for the awesome advice to uninstall and reinstall the application. It seems I had the glitch that forbidden me from beating the Unicorn. After reinstalling my application, it took me 4 tries, in the last one I used Onyx Ox and the stubborn Unicorn got finally conquered :)

Yes it does help to delete and reinstall game, I fought Emerald about 15 times or so and couldn't win but then deleted and reinstalled as suggested and then beat it after about 3 losses. Thanks everyone who posts tips!

Santa claws is a beast I was stuck on 29 the zepra used many level 14s with fire attack to no aveal so I put Santa claws in primarily jest to see the Xmas attack which was a nutural attack to the zepra then I used a fire and got a one hit critical **** blow!!

I've had the worst luck this tournament. 1st lost 7hrs of game play due to connection problems on all my TL games. Have battled hard all the way to the unicorn but now have been stuck for over 24hrs. I've used my onyx ox level 13. Used my level 12 skyger, dream bat level 9, bansheep level 9 and all of my other dark hybrids. Have uninstalled and reinstalled the games 3 times now to no avail. Does anyone have anymore suggestions on beating the unicorn with only 10hrs left im feeling defeated. Honestly this game is no longer fun since I progessed to the higher levels.

Nature-Fire... Vinotaur is best if you have one level 10 or over, otherwise your highest level rare Nature-Fire.

Thanks so much. Much appreciated for your reply. After posting I uninstalled and reinstalled for the 4th time and I have finally beat the unicorn with my onyx ox 1st hit was critical. 4 more levels to go hopefully I wont get stuck. Fingers crossed

Use Magmacore, or the Earth-Fire Halloween animals, if any of them is over level 10. Otherwise your highest level Earth-Fire for Zapra. It's the ideal match up, so I'd just keep using it.

As for Treebra, at least take a shot at him! If you have a Unicorn, it seems to win very quickly over Treebra. Otherwise, your best Nature-Fire.

I finally beat the unicorn with onyx ox lvl 13 after 24 hrs of battling and also deleting and reinstalling app for the 4th time. I feel for your kids, we as adults can deal with the defeats and failed battles (frustrating more than anything) but kiddies get so disappointed and really feel the need to get a particular animal especially in the tournaments. Goodluck to u (if u r still battling)and your kids (sympathy hugs for them) and thanks for your suggestions.

I'm not sure this helps but I rarely listen to what's best and just go with what works for me. My Sloth beat the Treebra first time. My Sloth also took out Zapra. Anytime something is weak to either Nature or Earth I use him even if he's "weak" to a certain other element. If that makes sense. Good luck guys!

i wish the tournaments went for just 1 day longer. ive played this game from day 1 and ive yet to get a tournament animal and would love to get just one. i always seem to reach round 25 or so and run short of time. plz make the tournaments run a little longer. ��������������

Yay! Got it last night just before bedtime! This has to be the easiest tourney ever for me...was battling right up to last minutes with thanks gibbon,used gems to speed etc but still didn't get it but on this one,the worst I got stuck on was about 4 tries and only one one animal (panda,I think)...weird huh? The exact same thing happened to me with about 15 seconds left. I saw it in my storage and then the pyropony sync happened and it was gone. What makes me especially mad about this is that none of my gems are back. How can the sync lose the pony but not return the gems that were used seconds before to get it? I spent 62 gems to get this animal at the end, only to lose it! Emailing TL support right now. I really hope they make this right.

I have heard people on almost every tournament losing their animals. I hope you guys get them back! I would be so upset after all that hard work. Let me know what happens please.

Congrats to all who won the treebra! Wish I was one of your number. First tournament animal that will be absent from my forest unless another way to win it without shelling out any hard cold cash comes up.

I worked on this one. Really obsessively worked on it. Seems like I should have had a chance!

I did sleep a little, eat a little, and go to work. I made myself walk away from the game every now and then: I enjoyed the company of my husband. I contemplated life with a 19 year old, watched a bit of football with 23 & 26yr olds, drove a 13 yr old to activities talked story with a 7 yr old and played with a two year old....which seems important. I feel I was still obsessed enough that I should have had a fighting chance......

My goal was to win the treebra without using any gems since I have had to use a few ultimate attacks on every tournament so far. My time ran out before I beat level 26. I did previously have a personal goal to win all tournament animals even if it took using my earned gems....but my desire to have a unicorn is making me contemplate having a goal to save 2000 gems. With perseverance that seems more doable than breeding one.

Oh well, the absence of the treebra in my forest will be a testament to my quest for the unicorn.


In the time being, maybe I'll breed one!

Interesting to think about.... because it seems like on average, most people have a pretty even win/loss record at the end of the tournament, that would mean that you need to try 60 times. You have 5 full days plus a little extra on the first day (so like 5 and a half days really). I'm estimating that that means that you need to try 10-11 times a day in order to win without using any gems. If you don't speed, that's about 10 hours a day. Assuming that most people are awake around 16 hours a day, that's certainly a big chunk of time - and it needs to be every day of the tournament.

I do think that it's good to know the number of tries that you'll probably be required to have before you start - to avoid frustration. If I knew that it was on a week that I wasn't going to be able to play that many times, I'd probably not even want to attempt it at all.

Now that this tournament is done, I would suggest that anyone who had difficulty start preparations for the next tournament. I would suggest reviewing the information in the Making Sense of the Battlegrounds thread and determine which creatures you need to breed and upgrade for the next tournament.

I agree with you - I don't really wish the tournament was easier... I don't expect it to be so easy that everyone can do it without putting in a good chunk of time. As you said, it's either put in the time or put in the money. I strongly prefer this model to the "odds are super low no matter how many times you do it" model of breeding, but I'm choosing to play this game anyway.

I'm more just putting that information out there about how much time it takes to do it for free so that others might be able to set their expectations reasonably.

Didn't finish it, one acct was stuck on lvl 28, the other 2 were stuck on lvl 25. Trying so hard at least to get 1 on either one off acct but none.
I never missed any dragons from the tournament of dragon story, but tourney here is harder than DS. I already play from the very first day of tourney, well minus sleeping time, cooking time, feeding my kids, etc. maybe I just need to go back on DS only........

You can email them at support@teamlava.com. Be sure to include your storm8 ID, the game this is about, and a summary of what happened. I'd also include your screenshot of winning the treebra. You'll get a generic auto-reply first and it might take them a while to process it but hopefully they'll give us our missing animals. If not, I'm definitely not spending any gems on a tournament again. Good luck!

I don't particularly wish it was easier.... And I did know the obligation going in. I did refer to making sense of the battle grounds and I did obsessively scan the win stories that were posted. I did battle at least 8-10 times on most days. I do think one additional day would open up the tournament for more winners, I would have been one for sure if I'd had 12 more hours. but I think the time frame is calculated so that we must use those gems.

So, no, not looking for pity or an injustice party. My post was just my story of my experiment of not using gems to ultimate attack as I had used in previous tourneys. That's what gems are for. I played as obsessively as I could, and could have won the treebra if I had used a couple of ultimate attacks and speeded on the second to the last day. I had enough gems to do those things.

My post is for posterity I guess, to note that a player who plays obsessively, reads all related posts but plays
without gem animals,
without using gems,
who has to work at a job where hourly visits to the game are not possible, and
Has a life where hourly visits are not probable for more than 10 in a day
Has no chance to succeed in a tournament.
