I was not yet at the habitat cap of 41 but my ability -at level 33- to buy habitats increased from 34 to 36.

Well I'll be darned. I missed all the sorta-kinda excitement. I haven't been on the game much this week. Decided to check the forum and make sure I wasn't missing a Tournament or World Event or something. Well I guess I'll go develop some new land. Meh.

I wonder which of the apparent 14 squares on our new island will be the one we cannot expand to now and why. The most obvious why would be if one has a new element mono that will appear there mewling adorably like the lightning leopard did. If so, it's probably a random one in the middle would be my guess.

I believe now that we have 13 new plots and 50 habitats max, the way to fit the most animals is this (assuming you want to keep your evolution flower as well):

1) All plots get a 4x4 building except the 12 x 12 squares area in which the immovable breeding garden / tree of life is awkwardly placed. That area gets 12 3x3s.
2) If you want grand farms, that means 1 haunted hollow, 37 big habitats and 12 small ones (around the nest) = 139 animals total.
3) If you want big farms instead, they can occupy 6 of the 12 3x3 plots leaving you with 6 small habitats, 1 haunted hollow, and 43 big ones for a total of 145 animals.
4) This leaves 16 empty squares for decoration, around the nest in which you can put up to 3 2x2 decorations and a bunch of 1x1s.

This is just if you want your forest to hold the maximum number of animals it can. Personally, now that we have a little room to breathe, I may not have that many once I finish expanding. But based on the below, that may not last...

I am trying to plan ahead. There are 82 types of animals ATM (counting expired limited and tournament animals). If we assume that our next set of expansions is in another 3 months (=13 weeks), how many types of animals will there be by then (to ensure I have room for at least 1 of each)? As I count it: In August they released 10 new animals (again, counting all animals - breedable, battlefields, arena, events, limiteds). In September, 12 new animals. October brought 15. The first 3 weeks of November, we've gotten 8. In total, that's 12+15+8=35 in 16 weeks. So, it's an average of a little over 2 animals per week.

So there are likely to be 28-30 new animals to try to fit in our parks before the next set of expansions, bringing the total types of animals to about 111. At maximum capacity with grand farms, that leaves room for only 30 total duplicates. I currently have 36 duplicates. So I am going to have to keep selling more of them off unless they slow down animal releases or speed up how often they expand.
