Stars / Cleans disappearing without being collected

Arrgh - all the buildings that my neighbours are kindly cleaning for me are back to being shineless the next day - and no, I haven't been collecting them! This has only started happening in the past couple of days & I'm not sure if it's since expanding to 23 x 23. I didn't particularly want to expand but was running out of things to do! PLEASE sort it out team lava. I know its only a game but after months of playing I have invested a lot (too much) time on this ... 

The same thing is happenning to me. Very frustrating.

I've noticed it happening over the last 24 or 36 hours. It's particularly noticeable in Empire, if you play that, too.
