Castle Update 10/16/14: Halloween Event!

Hey everyone, this week's update is Castle Story's second World Event - this time, Halloween Themed!

Collect Candy Corn to earn the different Halloween prizes. You can get it by:

Harvesting from Corn
Going on the Trick or Treat Adventure
Crafting it in the Kitchen
Visiting your characters' Houses
The Jack o Lantern item, which you can find in BUILDINGS -> SPECIAL in the Market
and a few other places...


We hope you enjoy this event's prizes, including the new Spooky Wall set which is in my opinion our coolest wall yet!

We also heard your feedback from the last event and have some cool functional prizes to earn:

Cownt Dracula is a terrifying... cow? In addition to boosted Prime Cut and Hide drops, he also produces a variety of red items. Is that blood? (It's not.)

Collect from The Witch's Cauldron to earn a variety of different potion items - almost every single thing you can craft in the Potion Shop, you can get from the Cauldron. Ivy will be pleased!

Find Bones, Creep Tooth, and occasionally Living Wood at the Spooky Tree.

And last but not least, the absolutely stunning Haunted Hall, which you can build using the Fancy Chandelier from the event's 3rd Individual Prize. Aside from looking TOTALLY AWESOME, the Hall has a low chance to drop Earth Wisps, Wisp Lanterns, and Lumin Essence.

I also did not have a cottage ready to test so it may or may not drop from there.

The "Bats in the Rafters" quest is to upgrade the Haunted Hall to Lv. 3 (Go on the Adventure for parts!)... but when you tap the haunted hall, it does not show what is required for the upgrades. Hopefully when my knights return from the adventure, the option to upgrade will appear.

FYI - the barracks does NOT have the Trick or Treat adventure. :(

Second corn collection from my 20 plots: 1 candy corn and 3 skunkupines appeared (2, 3, and 3 candy corn from each respectfully).

Drop rates seems to be low on the corn, but at least it triggers skunkupines.

I've been visiting a lot of neighbors, hoping that we can get candy corn in lieu of energy, coins or XP, but no luck there.

Everything about this event so far has been a hoot. I LOVE it!

ETA: I saw people mention getting candy corn from skunkupines and fangbeasts and want to add boars to that list.

Did anyone else buy the gates and fences? When I try to connect the gate with the fence it covers the lights on the gate. It overlaps kinda weird. Anyone whose having this trouble? Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I tried the tower things to it also covers one of the gate lights. If I don't put it that close then there's a gap between them. No big deal but any input would be helpful. :) thanks

Side calculations...

To keep the kitchens running at full speed making candy corn .. .5 hr for the corn +.25 for the sugar = a cycle time of .75 hour requiring 5 cane and 25 corn. cane takes 4 hours to grow and corn 3 minutes so I need to farm about 5.33 cycles worth to stay active. ... time two for 2 kitchens.

so 54 plots of farm to cane and the other 6 for Corn..
Corn must be harvested 45 (2hr and 15min total) times and replanted for each 1 harvest of cane.
270 energy for corn + 54 for cane + 8 sugar collect + 8 candy collect = 340 total energy used every 4 hours
assuming energy return of 33% from crops = 107 energy returned => 340-107 = 233 energy every 4 hours out of natural generation of 80... o bummer.. where is my alicorn.

These events are always a big energy suck. I've put all my cows and chickens in storage to concentrate on getting CANDY! We've got more than two weeks, so everybody step away from the sugar and calm down, lol. It'll be fine. ;)

Did anyone else buy the gates and fences? When I try to connect the gate with the fence it covers the lights on the gate. It overlaps kinda weird. Anyone whose having this trouble? Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I tried the tower things to it also covers one of the gate lights. If I don't put it that close then there's a gap between them. No big deal but any input would be helpful. :) thanks

Oh and I also can't get the path to rotate.

I did finally remember this week to do something I've always been meaning to do: NOT collect from my alicorn on Monday. Save that bonus energy for collection on Thursdays when I'm most likely to really want it. And sure enough, I'm happy I did!
I also rearranged my kingdom a bit so as to NOT put my alicorn on display. He is now hiding in a back corner, where his truly evil gem trap-itude is minimized. It's sad, but had to be done.

I got 5 candy-corn from collection 21 corn.
My knights will be out on adventure to the Plume Hive for another 12 hours, so I need to wait till they've returned before I can sent out the Trick or Treat-adventure.
Furthermore, I couldn't resist and bought the Jack o'Lantern, it has a cool-down time of 6 hours, so I don't know yet what it will drop.

Up till now I've got 67 candy corn, not bad for playing just a little more than half an hour ;)

I had everything complete:D except the final 2 Simple Glues :rolleyes: when the quests expired:(. It would have been a wonderful idea :o if we had the option to purchase the remaining items needed, with an additional cost probably:rolleyes:. But I only needed TWO Simple Glues :mad:... for 75 gems:confused:??? I think not:p, but thanks for the generous offer :rolleyes: :D But I have 3 different kingdoms.

I had this problem as well. But after I force closed the app and restarted it, the option is there. Hope that helps!

They are shorter than the other towers. They go up to where the colored tile roof starts at the blue and pink tiled towers. Since the spooky walls are somewhat shorter though it still fits anyway. I would post a picture but for whatever reason my iPad won't load them.

The way this system works is that the gem price is the cost of the reward itself (in this case 5 x 15 gems for each item), and not actually the remaining skip amount on the quest itself.

You can look to see if they have recent things in their kingdoms (like, in a couple days you can look for Halloween stuff and Haunted Hall). Also, look for some of the newer fairies stuff. If they're still leveling up, you can look to see if they're making progress and increasing levels. Also, look at their walls and see if there's new writing on it.

Here's what I did. When people requested materials from me, I visited them first. Then their names went to the bottom of the neighbor list. So I could do requests starting at the bottom of the list.

So far this is looking like a great event! Candy corn is a bit energy intensive to cook up, but at least there are so many other ways we can collect them. I love how we can now collect candy corn from visiting our character houses! It's very halloween and until now I had no reason to visit and collect from these buildings (unless it was mandatory for a quest). It's not so clearly explained in game though and I only found out about it on this thread.

I have over 350 neighbours, and when I'm requesting, I'm requesting ALL of them at the same time. Usually I get the 20 replies withing hours of my sent request. The next day: again, and again 20 replies within a few hours. I finished the 80 request within 4 days.

Anyway, nobody has answered my question about the Reindeer Stable: does that drop corn too?

Additional question: how much candy corn drops from monsters? Is it worth the energy you spend on it? (To explain, I have one Fangbeast in my Kingdom now where it doesn't hinder anything I do, so I am using that to save energy I otherwise have to waste on fighting monsters, so I'm wondering what to do now...)

Anyway, nobody has answered my question about the Reindeer Stable: does that drop corn too?

No, no reindeer stable, kingdom inn, greselda's dark garden, Glimmerbat Habitat, Summer Gazebo, etc, I woulnt bet on any seasonal building dropping anything, its not very logic to have a snow covered building to drop Halloween candy now is it in fact its easier to list what DOES drop candy corn.

I'm gonna guess that there will be a mini-quest next Thursday for extra bats & ghosts, similar to the quest that appeared in the middle of the Pyre Festival for extra stuff.

Still, TL, would you consider adding the trick-or-treat adventure to the barracks? ...even if it's for 16 hrs?

Well yes I did say that presumably I will get more than 1 of each on some occasions (the maths was merely to emphasise how it could be unrealistic otherwise) - I've only collected from one adventure so far and I'm hoping the 1 of each I got from it are not the norm and I'm interested to see what other people get, so it's great that you've had as many as 4 of each :)

I've collected 3 times at least from the Haunted Hall and haven't gotten any parchment bats or ghosts.
That would be nice if it did drop 1 here and there though.

I don't think the final number is known yet. However just for conjecture the goals bar looks evenly spaced out so goal 1 to goal 2 is 600. 600 x 4 more goals= 2400/18 days=133.333 candy corns per day.

If I remember correctly, the last prize in the Pyre Festival used 3200 sun stones. If it's the same this time, you have to make 177 candies a day for 18 full days, so to be safe, make at least 200 a day should do it.
Also, I can't believe that huge three square hall only gave me ONE candy... seriously....
Also, on that pic of the hayride cart (HOPE I get it,) what's that thing next to it? It looks like one of those useless pumpkin Hutches, only on mine there's no little building. maybe mine's messed up???

I didn't realize, so I don't have the exact numbers, but I noticed when I closed my game yesterday evening I had about 69, and when I opened this morning 49. I started collecting everywhere, and when I collected from the adventure I had 169, collected some more, and suddenly it dropped to 149!

If it's similar to the Pyre Festival it'll probably be somewhere between 2000 and 3000. Last time between 150 and 200 candy corn a day got me to the community prizes with a few days to spare.

Actually, it is not an easy event to pass thru. If you want to get 200 candies a day, then you probably have to get at least 150 from corns and others from quests, buildings.

When I harvest 30 corns, I get around 10 candies from them and the monsters appearing during harvest, and from the ~30 I can craft 5 more candies in kitchen. This is ~15 candies in 1,5 hours (30 energy you get in 1,5 hrs) so in case you want to get 150 candies a day from corns it takes you 10 hrs of corn harvesting and cooking.

With other words, if you want to complete this event, without spending gems, it would be a nonstop gaming for the next 18 days, with ignoring almost everything else. (like collect from animals, except sheeps - you need wool). And there are also the lot of silvers you need now, also furs... So, this is a though event this time.

I think the only flaw in this world event is the haunted Hall. It should give more candy per collection, like the pyre tent did. I did buy two pumpkins, and if I harvest them faithfully, they'll give me around 850 candy in this event. I hope they will still give something when this is over

If I read glimmergate correctly, the hall will give wisps, lanterns and lumin essence. I took that to be after the event.

Didn't the pyre tent give more flags as you leveled it up? So by the same thought, the hall should give more candy as it levels up.

If the items described continue to drop the items mentioned after this event, then I think this event it is fantastic. There are EIGHTEEN more days. TL isn't asking anyone to do this over the weekend.

I meant, a FREE event currency giving item that you get as first event quest item - like the DS Cauldron - because I think that even people you don't want to spend real cash (for gems) should have a chance to get to the goal of the event. I don't mind if it's not all that easy - the Summer Gazebo, which was my first event, took quite a bit of work for me, but still was possible - but it SHOULD be possible.

Which I think this is not, unless there will be later changes.

As for buying the Pumpkin, I'd have to figure out first of all how to buy gems in the game... I wonder if prepaid itunes card would allow that...
