Red petals

Has anyone got any hints for getting red petals?? I need loads and I just don't seem to be getting them!! I bought a bush which occasionally gives them to me but other than that I get none!! Help!!!!!

Using gems: red trillum flower that exclusively drops red petals
Non-gems: Plant in a log (also old log, I think?), Ivy's hut (if you're completed the quest)
