What is the four star rating for?

Is the star rating just for attracting neighbors? Or does it affect the speed of sales? Thank you!

The "star" rating reflects on the tipping a person does. I, myself, am a 4 star person which reflects that I tip a large # of people everyday. I want my nbrs to b consistent w their tipping which is y I state in my signature that I want 3-4 star people asking 2 b added as a nbr. There r some ppl who don't care about tipping or star ratings but it's my way of knowing that a nbr is actively playing the game.
