View Full Version : Pyre tent? I think too much pink stinks!

I realise that some people love pink, but I - as a fully fledged 50-something 'tomboy' - do not! I've never understood why TL always use pink for Valentines, when the colour of love is red, as in 'my love is like a red, red rose' and I don't have any pink trees, animals or buildings. I love all the blues and purples and other colours our buildings have - apart from Sabine's house, but then she is definitely girly - but these days we can't seem to get away from a certain blush colour! But the pyre tent wins the prize as the most hideous yet. I've put it up, but the minute the event is over away it will go.

To me, the ideal colour for a tent celebrating midsummer would have been a sunshine yellow. There's space for a range of colours, surely?

What's going on?
I hope this is not what we can expect from now on!
It doesn't match anything in the kingdom
I certainly will be storing this big pink blob,
ASAP!

I am speechless at this point. I was willing to live wth bugs to keep the Castle icon. I have been forced to update to the Pink PoniPorn. And what did I get? A Peptobismal pink tent on slime green grass that was clashed so badly no matter where I put it, that I had to unlock my last expansion in the north-east, so I could hide it behind Old Thomas house and trees. I will store it so deep in my inventory it never ever sees even a hint of daylight again. I will store and take back out everything I can to push this far, far to the back of the shed.

I am NOT happy. If it weren't for the lovely artwork on the prizes to give me a tiny ray of hope, I would join Oliverrr11 and just delete CS. I will walk away from it all if the building artwork continues to have so little detail, clash with older buildings in style, and be so bad.

I'm not a fan of the latest artwork either, including the pink poniporn app icon.

The new icon is flat out girly. I'd be embarrassed if anyone saw me tapping it.

Hi there! I have been following closely several threads, most notably the complaints about the icon, and the info for the pyre adventure with the pyre tent and all.

I rearranged my kingdome recently and today realized quickly that there is in fact a noticeable change in art style and colour palette for the designs made recently. Specifically, id say about the new fairy quests, basically, a couple of months tops.

Today people complained about the grass "slime" under the pyre tent, BUT i noticed the same green thing is under a flag in the fairy tea party building.

These two, fairy tea party and pyre tent, have colors that clash with the stuff already in the kingdom, and seem more simplistic and cartoony in design. I thought the fairy ones were that way because they were fairy... But the pyre isnt fairy. And we have fairy stuff from before that didnt look like that, duch as the fairy respite and the goddess tree. Those had beautiful artwork, brilliant colors that worked and didnt clash with other buildings, they were just bright but not cartoony bright. Even the fairy stone path seems out of place when put next to previous paths, it seems fake, to say something. Too shiny or too heavy with colors, im. Not sure.

I am not against these new buildings and decorations, but there is a definite change of style that several users will not like. Also thee seems a bit of a loss of details, i mean, the tea party has details, but the pyre tent almost doesnt, things uded to have textures and stuff, even the theaters and the fortune tent... These things i do miss a bit in the most recent buildings.

Personally, i hope that a bit of the older style may come back and that all these bright cartoony items ar seasonal, a touch of funny items are ok, but in general i agree with the consensus that says this game is for adults and young adults and not teens or children, and we like our "serious" buildings that look realistic.

CS is the only game that has captivated me in such a way that i installed it when it was being promoted though other games (zoo story 2) and the moment i played it i fell in love. Story, characters, beautiful scenery, non irritating energy charges and great things. It has held me here as a player since august 2012, and i hope to play it much, much longer (and buy, too!). Hopefully it will stay on a line similar to what its been so far, because for cartoony things, TL has several other games for that.

I know its been extremely reviewed elsewhere, but i dont mind the new icon, although i do agree it does not represent the game anymore, unless the game is going onto the cartoony cutesy shiny colored trend in the future.

It's not the pink that bothers me, but the tent is not even a pretty pink! It's just a giant, horridly colored blob with no features of interest. It doesn't go with anything else in the kingdom - it sticks out like a sore thumb. Really terrible looking. I absolutely hate it. Plus, it's enormous and tall, so it can't even be hidden effectively. I do hope this is not indicative of where the graphics are heading in this game. Please, TL, take a look at the tiny, clever, highly detailed buildings we have come to love in this game. It's what attracted me to it in the first place, lo these many moons ago. It looked different than the other junk out there. The graphics used to be impressive.

I think CS is in some kind of identity crisis right now. But please, if it ain't broke, don't "fix" it!

Agreed! The graphics are what made me absolutely ADORE this game. But now they're are just getting sloppy (and slimy!!!). And it's turning into Barbie's Dream Castle! Trust me... I AM AS GIRLY AS THEY COME (I type carefully, waiting for my nails to dry)! Pink and teal are my favorite colors. But this is FAR TOO MUCH. Be guy(and tomboy!)-friendly! Even us girly-girls are tired of everything being pink.

I notice also that the buildings keep getting bigger and bigger in size, and proportion isn't really considered anymore. I find it ridiculous that a gazebo and an event tent are twice as large as our workshops or sawmills. The sizing is completely off, and it just keeps getting worse. Especially for those of us who have expanded as much as we can, enjoy decor and are VERY limited on space. I have tons of buildings in storage for this very reason. Not EVERYTHING has to be 3x3! I was so excited for new flowers, but they're a no-go for me because of the size. They're as big as the workshops! I mean, where do you draw the line? Bigger buildings with less detail... It's a little absurd.

Yes, it's pretty sad that what should be small decorations, like the tea party flowers, are 2x2, when most trees are 1x1. That makes it darn near impossible to fit them into your kingdom's garden or landscape.

Couldn't agree more! All of us "long time" players began noticing a striking decline in the quality of the graphics being introduced over the past several weeks...it began with less detail added, then progressed to the light green "slime" platforms at the base of many items. As these items were added to the kingdom, you could begin to clearly see a shift/decline in the overall approach & quality of the game design. Then came the icon fiasco w/ the bug-riddled update, and now the "lock out" with those of us who wanted to retain the last "classic" version of CS simply being shut out. Like others, I didn't upgrade yesterday, so I have only seen a pic of this new pepto tent on the forum. At this point, I'm not even sure I'm really missing anything. I fear that, like many games before, CS had reached its peak and is on the decline. Take care and be well, dear neighbors!

Yep. I'm not lovin' the new design either. I am feeling a bit meh about it all at the moment. The earlier stuff was really fantastic. There are only so many trees to hide things behind.

Personally I feel the decline in detailed graphics in-game is much more of a reason to be concerned for Castle Story's future than the new icon (as much as I can't stand the thing). I really hope TeamLava wakes up and realizes just how unhappy their long-time, LoveShack-owning players--the ones that have been with them since the beginning--have become! And newer players, too! I really don't want to give up my favorite game. But it's not the same anymore. :(

I joined directly after the Love Shack Valentine Event, I simply don't like where CS story is headed !
The new buildings Graphics are totally inadequate with the old ones, not only the color scheme ( neon- psychedelic- and tacky!), but size wise they are totally out of scale, let alone the lack of the beautiful details we were used to !
It is it a pain to place them somewhere, in which, they won't clash with the old ones, as if another game had invaded CS ( Gazebo - Tea Party and now this Eyesore Tent).
Hopefully, like Glimmergate said, this "new" trend will be over soon, though from what I see, I am not holding my breath!

I agree entirely, Liloze. My Tea Party in the back of my storage shed will be joined by that tent in 17 days and counting, never to be seen again.

I did find one side view of the gazebo that's not too awful, given that it does drop some useful items. :)

You are right about the gazebo, it drops good stuff, :) I put both the tea Party and gazebo together, and surrounded the TP with the flowery hedge to cover it a bit. But The Gazebo I couldn't really hide , no space for trees!
The "Tenteyesore" ( sounds like A dinosaur name?! :D ) So the tent is surrounded by trees now and the only thing visible about it is the top! Though I had to move the Goddess Tree to do that, sigh.
I think TL should stop creating new buildings and let the old ones drop the materials we need, at least, this way, they would save us some space, and...nightmares in flashy bright colors!

My huge bug bear with the gazebo and this tent is the ugly green floor that comes with them. The background should be invisible.

Now that I've upgraded the Pyre Festival tent to level 7, I quite like it. It could still use tons more detail, but it's leaps and bounds better than the 4-post tent.

I may be wrong about this but it seems that all the more recent buildings are just a variation on 4 legs and a roof rather than a fully formed building: harvest pergola, faerie respite, summer gazebo, faerie tea party and now the tent - and all are growing more out of proportion with the rest of the game, along with reduction in quality and style. Def a change in direction there.

At least they got rid of the start-up music in today's update

Was there a change in the game's graphic designer? I didn't think there was, but it's certainly gotten lazy, sloppy, and slimy in recent months. The old buildings were so intricate and beautifully detailed. And proportion wasn't completely crazy.

Forum: Castle Story
Build a glorious kingdom, filled with breathtaking fantasy buildings, heroes and villains, and adorable animals.

This is at the top of the very first Castle Story Forum page but I too agree that there has been a noticeable departure from the "breathtaking fantasy building" ideal just lately.

Pyre tent looks a bit different from the style used in other buildings. I beleive it would be nice if it was possible to be redesigned.

I agree with many opinions on this thread. I am kind of bored right now because I'm not having interesting goals or story lines to follow then I can only do some decoration but lately the design and proportions are not matching quite well. Kingdoms look very nice when you visit them without all those coins, barrels and signage bouncing all over the place. It would be really nice if I could see my own kingdom nice and clean like that; maybe the items could just glow or something when they are ready.
