Sorry if these questions have been asked, I couldn't find them...
Is there an automatic add icon? I have noticed some players have them and some don't. I have had many nbr requests even though I haven't given out my ID, so I'm assuming I have one. I would like to turn it off, how do I do this?
Also, I couldn't find the wall to write on/read, don't we have one?

The invite button is wonky. I find if you visit a new neighbour, wait a bit then click on one of the habitats the invite button will show up.

I know in the other forums there is an "add me" thread. I usually just put my ID on my wall or invite people that have visited me, but there is no wall so I can't do it.

I think there is a way to add neighbors from visiting them in this game. I didn't try it, but I saw a +1 in the bottom corner when visiting community members

Does anyone know how many gift u can get in a day? How many gifts can u send?

The game doesn't have a wall by design. You can invite friends if you have their Storm8 ID or you can visit a Community member and use the Invite button to send a request.

Also, can we access the newsfeed when we are at our nbrs or do we have to return home each time?

There is currently no option to disable the invitations from the quick Invite feature. You're welcome to decline friend requests. Please let us know if you experience any issues and we'll pass it on to the team.
