Problem with jobs

I have even choosing the 8 hour Job and when I log in, 8 hours later, I am only being paid for 2 min Job! 2 mins is $350 and 8 hour is 5,300!! What gives?

It's possible that your game isn't syncing with the servers before you leave it. When you put the 8 hour job on try visiting a neighbour or posting/deleting on your wall to force it to sync.
