Do walls help prevent monsters?

I used to have my whole kingdom surrounded by walls before I remodeled a month ago, and nope they don't help any. Somehow those fangbeasts, trolls, etc were able to sneak into my kingdom unnoticed all the time. Lol

In real life, oh my, YES! It also helps if you sleep with the lights on. But in CS, they get in no matter what you do
