bugged quest

with our powers combined, i crafted the garnet trinket 3 times and did not get one to upgrade my tree

It's not a bug. Unfortunately the faeries are actively trying to prevent you from crafting it. Every time they succeed you get the original trinket back but lose the garnet. Keep crafting and you'll eventually get it.
