Troll battle error

Ok so today as I was about to battle Anje at Kaz's house. Anje came out for battle and in the middle of it the whole game refreshed and instead put a dire boar on the screen to fight off. I must have tapped the speed up tab trying to find out what happened. And again Anje came out for battle and once again half way thru the battle my screen totally refreshed with the ruler on his horse screen appearing.
Is this an error? I sure didn't want to lose 16 jewels just to speed up a battle but something weird is happening.
