Zoom out?

The furthest I can zoom out on my iPad mini is one island on the main screen, but I can zoom out ~4x further in the Arctic Isles to see Glacius and the entire area. Is this normal? I'd like to zoom out further on the main screen.

This is normal. On the Arctic Isles, you don't have a lot of Dragons and animations so you can zoom out further. For the regular island, there are a lot more Dragons and animations, so to ensure smooth gameplay, you aren't able to zoom out as far. :)
