So I'm stuck on the very last part of 8. I need one more star to finish but I've collected all the stars I can. I only have 5 badges so I can't open one of the other 2 scenes. Do I really need to collect 8 more badges to open one of the scenes to collect another star?

You can collect Badges from your previous scenes. Go back and replay those scenes to unlock your next scenes. Good luck!
