What does gathering hearts while you visit your neighbors do?

They will receive more coins and exp when they collect from that building, your heart rating will go up showing others that you're an active player.

Thank you, I try to visit every neighbor everyday, and search for the hearts in their kingdom, I wondered if it helped or not. Thanks for the quick response.
