Castle Story: 02/13/2014 Update Greselda's Beautiful Dark Garden

Hi All,

Happy Thursday! As planned, we're continuing the main story. We have a new member in the Kingdom and the story is going to start exploring more of Lady Greselda. I won't spoil it for you guys though ;D

Here's today's update:

1) Greselda's Beautiful Dark Garden Questline
- To start this quest you must complete Potion Shop Gossip and be Level 27+
- Looks like The Baron is back in your Kingdom, just what is he up to?

2) New Crafting Building: Greenhouse
- Available to players Level 20+
- We are adding 3 new staple crafts to it next week, for now, it only has crafts relating to this week's content release
- Faeriebulb Seeds can now grow into something :confused:

3) New Decoration: Greselda's Fountain

We heard Faeriebulb Seeds can grow into Magic Fruit :O!

Everybody....please don't worry about faerie bulb seeds!!!! The craft in the greenhouse doesn't net you anything spectacular. Just random crops & energy, etc you can get easier from farming.

Concentrate on the piles of seeds!!! You need those for creating Dark Seeds. You need the Dark Seeds for crafting the glimmer plants required for upgrading the maze.

Piles of Seeds are important!!!! Not faerie bulb seeds.

Gather 20 fertilizer
Gather 20 Piles of Seeds
Grow 5 Dark Plants (in Greenhouse)
Rewards: 1700, 6 XP
* Greenhouse is a new crafting building available in the Market
* You must gather new seeds and fertiliser. Ones previously in storage don't count
* To grow Dark Plants you must first Create Dark Seeds (in Greenhouse, 3 Piles of Seeds, 5 Glimmer Shards, 5 Glimmer Fragments) and then Grow Dark Seeds (in Greenhouse, 3 Dark Seeds, 5 Water, 4 Fertilizer)
* You get 2-4 dark seeds per crafting

6. Coping Mechanism
Upgrade the Royal Maze Garden
* To upgrade the Maze you need 10 Glimmer Trap Plants, 1 Glimmer Rafflesia Plant, 5 Glimmer Pitcher Plants, 5 Mythic Essences
* The plants needed to upgrade comes from Growing Dark Plants in the Greenhouse, which produces one random Dark Plant.

7. Greselda's Beautiful Dark Garden
Tour the Garden x2
Rewards: 1700 coins, 6 XP

8. What Is This Feeling?
Buy Greselda's Fountain
Reward: 20 gems
NOTE: This is a TIMED goal. You DO NOT have to complete the goal. This is OPTIONAL. It will expire in 24 hours if you do not buy the fountain.
I repeat: You DO NOT have to do this. You do not have to spend gems.

Additional Information
* If you try to build another conservatory and you get a message that you're at your limit, you will need to sell another royal building. Limit depends on your level (at the higher levels its 27 royal buildings)
* There are two types of seeds: pile of seeds and faeriebulb seeds
* Pile of seeds are used to craft dark seeds. They are a random drop from conservatories, Ivy's hut, faerie respite, magic garden
* Faeriebulbs are grown to give random crops/energy. If you have fully upgraded your faerie respite you'll only get them from there. Prior to that they did drop from glimmerbulbs and magic garden
* Crafting and growing dark seeds gives plants needed to upgrade maze (note these can't be placed in your kingdom)


Once you have completed the goals and construction of the Faerie Respite, you will only be able to gather Faeriebulb Seeds from a fully upgraded Faerie Respite.



READ BELOW:

Greenhouse:
First time you visit Greselda's Castle, it unlocks "Create Dark Seeds". Note from maguar - I unlocked this after Garden Ceremony and before I collected from Greselda
Second time you visit Greselda's Castle, it unlocks "Grow Dark Seeds".

You need the pile of seeds, glimmer shards, & glimmer fragments to craft the "Create Dark Seeds" in the Greenhouse.
When the "Grow Dark Seeds" is unlocked after visiting Greselda's Castle twice, you need those dark seeds, water & fertilizer to craft the glimmer plants required to upgrade the Maze Garden to level 2.

2nd post on the first page of this thread is very helpful for checking your progress. You can refer to it repeatedly to check that progress.

The faerie bulb seeds are used to craft useless items you can get easier by other means. So no need to worry about harvesting them at all!

I never have the self discipline to do that and would be bored all day (updates come out at 8pm for me). Mind you, unless it is a timed quest it doesn't matter too much.

Nowhere near being able to do this yet. I don't mind as I have still got the faerie respite and friendly skunkupine going on. Which reminds me to once again express my gratitude to TeamLava for no longer putting the time limits on quest lines. It really has made the game the perfect balance of frustration (since the quests are still pretty demanding) and fun!

ANYWAY.

Really chuffed to read about this update, can't wait to see what the new greenhouse crafts are!

I just hope this new building doesn't count against the 'Royal' building total. I had to sell buildings to get the jewelers, this limit could really do with increasing or even better stored buildings don't count towards the limit.

Wrong. Flower are decorations, as are trees, at least according to the Inventory tab. Under Decorations in the Market is the Rustic Well, which drops water/fish/etc.

Got fertilizer but no seeds. Got 1 from fairy respite, 1 from magic garden, but none from Ivys hut. So all that and have a total of 2. Ah well, gotta wait on all those hedge trimmers so now starts the wait for regen.

I think I got one from mine, but not the garden. When I looked at it in my inventory it said the seeds drop from Ivy, Magic garden, conservatory and faerie respite.

What has happened to the promised mermaid pond. Maybe you guys can speed up the drops or something. I keep running out and it takes hours to get just 5. Seems like I never needed them until I got more advanced buildings and quests. I am still reeling from the fairy quest and the dragon. I gave up on the dragon after a week it just takes too long to make the sweet feast & it just takes over the kitchen.

I see what you're getting at! I don't feel like that for this kind of goal though - only the crazy timed ones like the glimmerbat etc, when there was just too much pressure and I felt the need to read the details of what quests were coming up so I could stock up. I stay relaxed with the untimed stuff though and don't usually stick with those update threads as I prefer to be surprised :D

On a different note, how CUTE is that maze garden! I love it.

Try force closing other apps and/or restarting your device. That should free up some of the device's memory and help the crashing problems.

It does say decoration on the first post of this thread.
Trees, flowers, etc are not decor since they are listed under plants in the marketplace not the decorations tab.

You are not alone..acutally jsut noticed today it keeps crashing when cooking or trying to pick an adventure to go ...took 30 tries to get it to stick ..I also forced closed ..deleted app..re downloaded ...cleared history and cookies ...I'm on itouch 4 with 16 gb free so memory not an issue ...this stinks ...farm 2 as of last week is unplayable from that update......no budget for new device ....:(

Sawmills, potion shops, chopping trees, and Ivy's hut are the main places. Possibly some from adventures, can't remember if the Faeirie Respite drops these or not.

Wrong. Flower are decorations, as are trees, at least according to the Inventory tab. Under Decorations in the Market is the Rustic Well, which drops water/fish/etc.

Wrong.....Flowers, trees etc are under nature and tell you what they drop..... Fountains are under decoration and do nothing. If they dropped something it would say that under info. For the well it says in the info that it can be fished in

So, it looks like you have to have finished the Adamant goal line in order to level this up, because you need mythic essence. Is that right? I've been putting that one off b/c I don't want to waste my troll essence and I have about 10 adamant already. Thanks in advance for the info!

UGGHH!! I got sucked in by my own excitement and hit buy immediately.... it does nothing. it is but a decoration by all I can tell at this time. its animated, but when i hit it there is no timer or anything. You can't grow Faeriebulb seeds until you've completed the last level of the Faerie Respite :)

The limit is 27 right now for Lv. 30 players. It will go up soon when we raise the level cap. I'm not sure how you ended up with over cap of royal buildings, but if you don't want to sell any more I'd advise waiting for the level cap increase. Sorry for the inconvenience :(

Happy Thursday! As planned, we're continuing the main story. We have a new member in the Kingdom and the story is going to start exploring more of Lady Greselda. I won't spoil it for you guys though ;D

1) Greselda's Beautiful Dark Garden Questline
- To start this quest you must complete Potion Shop Gossip and be Level 27+
- Looks like The Baron is back in your Kingdom, just what is he up to?

2) New Crafting Building: Greenhouse
- Available to players Level 20+
- We are adding 3 new staple crafts to it next week, for now, it only has crafts relating to this week's content release
- Faeriebulb Seeds can now grow into something :confused:

Well, you don't have to complete that quest completely to unlock mythic essence in the potion shop. I only did it halfway.

Second attempt to grow faeriebulb seeds gave 2 glimmerbulbs and 2 energy. So what's the use of the greenhouse, exactly? If all it gives is some useless crops and a few energy in exchange for all the energy spent collecting from animals for the fertilizer, and harvesting glimmerbulbs for the rear faeriebulb seed drops, it seems pretty useless to me.

Has anyone done the "Grow faeriebulb seeds" in greenhouse? What does it give?

Just collected from my experiment. Got 1 glimmer bulb (already full), 1 carrot (took me to 99) and 1 strawberry ( took me to 98). From what I can see it does nothing. Experiment over - been there, done that, no need to go back again from what I can gather. Cheers

I just built a 2nd Conservatory to catch up on seeds faster. Sold off a watchtower to make room. 2 hour collection time on these will be helpful.

Good idea! I never bothered with a second one before because there didn't seem to be much value to them. That's all changed now!

It's Valentine's Day here, so I would happily use my seeds to grow flowers to send to MiniLaura and to all of those that speed through to help us all in knowing what to expect. Happy V Day to you all, and thanks!

Are you saying that this plan is not thought through?? lol. In my defense, I've only sold one Lvl. 1 watchtower. It seemed like the quickest way to pick up seeds. I'm not getting any from much else. Not buying any more conservatories. I don't have enough room. But like the extra markets etc. they sit in storage until needed.

I don't believe it is that way. People seem to be selling things to get an extra conservatory. That gives piles of seeds that are needed to build the maze. It appears Faerie bulb seeds are different and they are used in the greenhouse. I personally did not sell anything, as I am still well within my limit. However, yes, very confusing with different types of things with similar names. I suppose that is what happens when a new release has separate things available and it is combined into 1 thread. I will not be using the greenhouse again until at least next week, as it looks like it will be needed for the next update. Cheers

YES, the piles of seeds and the faerie bulb seeds (purse like packages) are different and come from different sources and are for different goals. The piles of seeds come from Magic Garden, Ivy's Hut and Faerie Respite. The Faerie bulb seeds state from harvesting (but I haven't received any from harvesting yet).

2 things. What does the maze do when it is fully upgraded??? I don't wanna waste my time with it if it is useless.

That may be so. My question therefore is, why use up your fb seeds to get some useless crop/energy that you can get from other sources. Why not save any seeds you collect along the way and use later when required. Why waste 3 of them now for a strawberry that I can get with 1 energy in an hour. Unless of course I am missing something in the translation. Cheers

Step 5 doesn't use the faerie bulb seeds, but the piles of seeds that drop from the Conservatory. The only recipe in the greenhouse with fb seeds, is the useless one...

Collecting from Greseldas castle twice, unlocks two goals in the Greenhouse:
1. "Create Dark Seeds": Enchant the seeds with Glimmer magic! Needs 3x Pile of Seeds, 5x Glimmer Shard and 18x Glimmer Fragments, 15 min. -(two tries gave 4 seeds both times.)
2. "Grow Dark Seeds": Grows a random Dark Plant, and uses 3x Dark Seeds, 5x water and 4x Fertilizer - 1 hour.

(These plants are also needed to upgrade the maze to the next lvl. - it's going to take a lot of pile of seeds, glimmer stuff and fertilizer...)

I didn't pay much attention to the dialogue... but did notice at the end of it, Greselda wants to transform the garden to her tastes, that's why we need dark seeds.

Seems we can use fertilizer already collected to craft dark seeds and plants, but have to gather 20 new to complete the goal.

Well the first version of the maze looks lovely between my castle and the fairy respite, but I'm guessing I will have to move it elsewhere after Griselda's dark seeds bloom. At least I have some time to think about how to redesign Griselda's corner while I work on collecting all the things needed for the quests. :D

the RP for a tower is 60.. 2 towers make 120

Hi Anissada: I have the same problem. I sold a tower to get down to 26 royal buildings. But the game will not allow me to buy any more royal buildings. I didn't want to sell another tower, because I feel that there must be a glitch somewhere. I've emailed team lava support.

I just harvested 30 glimmerbulbs and also got 0 faeriebulbs seeds. Dunno what's up with that. It says they drop from glimmerbulbs, and I know from before there's a better drop rate than that. I used to get 10 or so out of a field of 30. Something odd there.

Are seeds a rare drop? I've collected from these gardens a couple of times each and got nothing yet. I'm getting the fertiliser so that's working okay. I've done a forced close and that didn't change anything? Do I just need to be patient?

I see that they have raised the limit of Glimmer fragments, glimmer shards and piles of seed to 99, but Faeriebulb seeds are still at 30. I hope they raise them to 99 as well

Since mamareader has 29 royal bldgs, I'd say the limit has to do with points

I understand what you're trying to say and I hope they didn't do that. Glimmerbulbs are the best source of faeriebulb seed cuz you can harvest every 8h. If we don't have that only thing that's left is Faerie respite and Magic garden.

And those 2 are very rare drops from them. I have had the completed faerie respite since about a week after the goal came out, therefore approx 1 month. In that time I have received 3 fb seeds. The 3rd dropped this morning, after the new quest started. Indeed very slow going. Cheers

I have been able to build the royal garden. Now to upgrade it you need:
- 10 Glimmer trap plant
- 1 Glimmer Rafflesia
- 5 Mythic Essence
- 5 Glimmer Pitcher Plant
All of these are from crafting. I know where to get the mythic essence, the other 3 items are new to me. I have the feeling I need the Greenhouse built 1st before I am able to get the items that start with 'Glimmer'... Maybe these requirements to upgrade can be added to page 1, as well as where they come from...

I still need 20 living woods to be able to build the greenhouse... And they are slow to come by for me!

Thx for the upgrade and quest, since I was getting bored with the game again, with no real goal but to do my last expansion...

Yes, but only because I'm a lvl 30 player with millions of coins and pretty much nothing to spend them on. I'm also a very active player, so this works better for me.

The limit is 27 right now for Lv. 30 players. It will go up soon when we raise the level cap. I'm not sure how you ended up with over cap of royal buildings, but if you don't want to sell any more I'd advise waiting for the level cap increase. Sorry for the inconvenience :(

I have 29 royal building, this might because valentine edition spire, I can only buy 2.

i did get them EVERY time i collected, until the last time..
three conservatories gave me totally nothing!
