Is there any rhyme or reason to who wins or loses? I've been playing since august and have never won a tournament. I usually do fine up until the mid point (round 15) and then it takes a day or two to pass it and by then I don't have time to beat the tournament. Does any one have any advice??

I am thinking that you might do better (in the beginning battles at least), using the colors deemed "best for a particular opponent, rather than the "catch -all" champion dragons.....

Well NUTS! Cupid takes out epic Dynasty!?? This happens WAY too often in the early rounds of the tourney. Seems like there's always at least one baby that takes out one or two of my epic Champions. Now my son is ahead of me since his level 8 Scorpion took out Cupid easily! :p

My tournaments went easier (wrong choice of words,should say less disastrous) in beginning before i had Champions and a bunch of other "strong" dragons, so lately i've decided to not take it so seriously - the amount of new dragons poured out on us is crazy anyway, and in battles randomness rules anyway.

But me taking tournaments less seriously only works to a point i've noticed - the point when it gets too much like pure lottery and i get mad and annoyed lol - the last quick tournament i ended up wasting close to 90 gold during 4 last battles just to get it over with rofl! Well, i don't have much gold now thanks to my maniac tactics so this time luck better be with me instead (not holding my breath though hehe).

Anyway, i hope you have better luck this tournament than in Kaleido one and other! :)

I kinda forgot about amazon... lol.. I normally just use Dynasty and now Warden as my champs go... I don't have a ninja *looks at Kami, lol* and I don't think my BK is that great of a fighter. Immortal is decent but I want him at level 10 but he is only level 7 with my other champs excluding Warden....

Hello Everyone!
Rnd 1 Epic New Years beat Love 1 with M+++
New Years has turned out to be a good fighter for me!
Meanwhile, I just bred Scarecrow & Diamond, and got the new Red Lantern Dragon (8hrs) on the first try. Why is it that suddenly I get what I'm trying to breed when I have no where to put them?? I have Red Queen and Hook on other nests, so now I can't breed anymore until we get a habitat increase. I still have 4 Dragon eggs in storage, including the last two tourney prizes. I'm rapidly running out of things I can actually do other than feed & evolve. At least the tourney will give me a reason to play for a while!!

Is there any rhyme or reason to who wins or loses? I've been playing since august and have never won a tournament. I usually do fine up until the mid point (round 15) and then it takes a day or two to pass it and by then I don't have time to beat the tournament. Does any one have any advice??

Tiny 10 = Champion, Sapphire (lvl 10) 75%
Mask 12 = Champion, Gingerbread, Moon (lvl 9) 60%
Atlas 16 = Avatar, Big Bad (lost 2x ), Black Swan (lost), Chocolate, Independence, Triceratops, Tusker (won) (lvl 9) 35% Paladin (lost)
Black Knight 16= 10%
Prism 18 = 10%
Gold 20 = 10%
Falling Leaf 20 = Champion (lvl 2) 35%

(I try to keep track of what dragon wins or looses, but I'm a bit lazy ;) )

If the chances are 15% or even 10% I "buy" that round with gold (ultimate for 30 gold). Usually I have to buy 5 or 6 rounds, which makes the "sell" pretty cheap: 180 gold you get a nice dragon.

In the last tournament (Thunderbird) I had to buy 9 rounds, which was too much for me (270 gold for a dragon, nah, don't think so, or it must be an ?ber-?ber dragon, that, and I didn't have the gold at that moment), so I didn't even try: I got stuck at lvl 22 and didn't have the time to finish the tournament.

This way I've "won" almost all tournaments since switching from Android to Apple last november. This way I also won my first Champion (Paladin), and that helped a lot. Now I only need a Diamond, but by playing the tournaments this much, I never save enough for the Diamond to buy.


Question for all: am I the only one that ultimates dificult rounds? I can't be, can I? I never buy gold with real money, but I manage to get 6-9 gold a day (1 epic gold-dragon, + 2-3 friends that don't play regularly, but do give me daily gold).

Ah it took all the way until 3rd round until randomness struck back, when Fairytale 1 defeated Black Knight 10...i really have a problem with these losses, they make it all into such joke, not a very fun one though. Oh well i say it again, i'd love if they had a proper combat system, where a noobish lvl1 dragon only had itsy bitsy tiny chance to beat a maxed out Champion, and when the high level fights were the nasty ones when you could expect getting butt kicked quite often...but i guess logic isn't profitable hmm *pouts*

Edit: Sent in Darksteel 10 after 30 mins and won with 2 bashes - i hesitated using it from start thinking the "metal" might not be what deals with Fairytale best...but i guess the "black" did, lucky lucky!

I had to realize that I shouldn't use champs again low level common dragons... actually common dragons period... I remember when I won dynasty, I beat him with an epic Life... and every time I face a champion, either another champion wins or a common dragon wins...

Well, i've tried that too and i really cannot see a pattern like that, for me Champs usually are a good choice against low level common ones, and ofc they should be - which makes it more annoying when combat lottery shows its ugly face. I have had Water baby defeat Valkyrie in the past, more than once, but when i started thinking i was onto something it started biting my behind....sadly i think it has a logical base, using stats and ranks, but if it was run without a hefty percentage of randomness mixed into it we'd have it too easy figuring out tactics which would mean less profit for TL...i think it's just business as usual, which makes my complaining quite meaningless....but i can't stop myself!!!!!! :eek:

Even if you don't win the tournament you should be able to get the 99 arrows in time to craft the Amazon.

I would suggest saving your gold to make sure you win a tournament which offers another Champion dragon as a prize, rather than using the gold to make sure you get this Lightmare one. That way in a few tournaments time you should have two champ dragons.

In the meantime, keep growing and saving your food. They take lots of food to reach epic level.

Ugh that stinks, but i know i did better in my first tournaments when i was lower level and had fewer so called strong dragons - i think we get lousier odds somehow as we level up higher, this is good business too i bet...well, i hope it turns around for you, good luck!

In my opinion - and that has limited worth....

The "calculator" will certainly help you in determining what dragons to use against other dragons - it can be particularly helpful when facing "new" opponents.

However, the "calculator" will give you a wide range of dragons to choose. Though they may be listed as 60% or 45% or whatever, I think if you select among THESE choices for ones that have a good "color chance" (more rareity and higher level) over ones that do not, you will have better luck. I keep (most of the time) a booklet with the dragons, their "good" and "poor" color choices for battles and a list of their wins and losses. For MOST battles, selecting one that has more of the "good" color over another with "bad color" - regardless of equal "percentages" will result in a higher percentage of wins.

This phenomena does NOT appear to make much difference (or makes such a small difference that in my small sampling population I cannot see the difference) when faced with an opponent that has a 10% chance across the board. In cases such as those, I think it still might help to select the "better color", more rare, discontinued or higher level dragons, but the difference is so small as to be obscured by my small sampling numbers....

Thanks for the tip! I usually use Bash then Magic to see which works better then use that on a third round if necessary on new dragons. I will be more careful.

Ninja is apart of all cuz is the first. Paladin is metalic works very good on gold types dragons like Treasure or diamonds. Im not saying its 100%,lol. Not even the battle calculator wont guarantee such thing. But im sure there r lil patterns. Good luck all!!

I was considering sitting out tournaments for a bit since I just finished crafting amazon and wanted a break from battles after the massive irritation induced by the last two tournaments due to the many 10% chance champion opponents, but TL just had to lure me in with a PINK dragon and a super rare at that.
