Tipping and Gold Cap

I see a lot of messages in my news feed that people visited my dragons and left gifts, but what do they actually leave?

Secondly, is there a Gold cap to the amount of Gold you can have without buying any? For the last 3 days I've been on 75 Gold without receiving anymore.

When they visit and "play" with your dragon you get a 250 coin bonus when you collect that habitat. The one they played with will be sparkling. You should visit some people and play with their dragons.

The only cap I know of on gold is you can't get more than 20 per day and can only send 3 per day. Have you been gifting back to the people that send it? If not they probably quit sending. It doesn't take gold from you, just sends them a free one.
