The mechanics to match opponents for attacks resets several times a day, typically offering much lower level opponents. This happens at irregular intervals and lasts from 15 to 60 minutes. The first signs are when global player ranking places all players at level 500. Another sign is when victories bring 0 crown and defeat costs 40 crowns.
However, the strength of opponents will vary during these episodes. Sometimes they are ridiculously low with very little return, sometimes they are barely below your own ranking, but most of the time they make easy target with sizeable returns.
The game isn't all about winning and performance. We're just trying to have fun.
