I got the inn. It said to ask neighbors, but then checked it and went away instantly. I had everything else - used te things, built the inn, upgraded the inn. Now I can only gt ot chocolate from my cottages. I see no way to request it from neighbors. There is no prompt, no gift I can send, no ..... Anything? What gives?

Yes I have connection problems, and on only one of our two devices! I was playing along got the Castle Story is an online game and requires internet message. I have both devices side by side, both do have internet, but one castle story only is not working.

The limit isn't on the cottages but on the number of town buildings. I can't remember the exact but it might be 20 od like the royal buildings.

I just bought two more and have 4 total, we'll see how that goes. They're cheap, build them if you can, and just sell them off later to get them out of inventory. No need to upgrade them.

You would think it would be halved but I guess the barracks houses all those overweight knights who had the sweet feasts on the trek for the elusive burning ember and even alicorn parts.:D

Also besides putting out the cottages you will want to take out all your cows also... its a total of 30 milks per Holiday feast. Normal Cows only 15 min timer and adventure is 8 hours.... so don't need a lot but stocking up on milk seems to be wise.

A little cynical maybe, but is it purely coincidence that we have new expansions only a week before an announcement that shows we will need plenty of earth wisps for December..........
How many people will need to spend gems to replenish stocks, also this quest line uses a lot of materials in these early stages, just after a sweepstake that caused people to hemorrhage their inventory.

For those of you who mentioned having connection issues, please try force closing your game. If you still experience issues, please try restarting your phone and also try reinstalling the game. You won't lose progress by reinstalling your game.

I, for one, have 4 cottages. They are super cheap to make. I did this because of one of the recent goals needing to collect from cottages X times. I almost wish I had a 5th, but given the quest times and 4 hrs per cottage, that is still 8 hot chocolates to my only needing 5 ;)

You have to finish the next quest then then option shows up.

Yeah that happened to me too. Force close the game, you should have the option when you open it afterwards.

So I had 6 hot chocolate and the goal was checked marked off. Then went to cook the feast and now the goal says I need 4 more hot chocolates. So we need 5 hot chocolates for the feast and 5 hot chocolates for the goal?

The same happened to me. However, once my adventure was done, it did finish that part of the goal. It should for you too.

I think your going to need the barracks... if there is level 5 that would be 90 logs/titles needed in total.

Uhm, so 90 logs and tiles each are needed in total. At a rate of 4 each per adventure it will take 23 adventures. I'd be hardpushed to get 3 adventures each day but without you have no chance of doing this. Unless of course you get better drop rates.

Also, the timed quests are always hindered by the incorrect countdown timers. The last several timed quests have all been bugged with incorrect timers, surely this issue would have been resolved way before now.

You can finish the quest without the barracks however they did say that the inn drops items for another seasonal quest coming up.... so if that quest comes out next week... odds are you wont finish the quest until after the next quest starts... with the inn collection timer being at 1 day per collection your going to be 3-4 day behind on the next quest if they release it next week. You need the barracks to finish this quest before next patch day hits because you want to finish it 1 day before patch day so you have time to collect from your inn at least once.

Of course they could release the new quest in 2 weeks so everyone had there Inn for a week first so we have whatever the drops are for the next quest. It's really a guessing game... but I did they math you can finish the quest without the barracks... I myself have the barracks... every time I send them off I sent the alarms on my phone for the return time. Like tonight the barracks comes back at 3:20am... so odds are I will spends the 3 gems at midnight to collect early then send off the next set cause I am not waking up at 3am.

Also I noticed this adventure gives 1-2 gems ... for an 8 hour adventure it's pretty decent. Even after I finish I am going to keep doing it just to make up some of the gems I spent for speed ups.

It might won't know for sure until someone finishes the quest. If it used for other seasonal quest I bet it will stays until December is over. Hoping it stays so I can farm gems :)

I am sure someone finished this quest already with gems so we just have to wait for someone to let us know. I think I will finish Tuesday morning ... hoping for 20 items per days since I can do 3 castle / 1 barracks per day.

Try restarting your device to see if the other hot chocolates show up.

You do not need the barracks, you can use your King or Queens Keep for the adventures.

It is just getting boring now. The fun of the game is rapidly fading with each time limited quest with virtually impossible goals, well, unless you want to spend vast amount of gems. So much for never needing the barracks to complete quests, just make it impossible without it. Not to mention the timer which they are still having problems with expiring too soon. Every timed quest has has it, you would think it would be sorted after the first time.

Gotta love the greedy consumerism of the holiday season lol.

Some quick math on the time needed to complete the building upgrades along the critical path.

The critical path is the Logs and Tile from the adventures. Assuming no friend gifts,stock piles, gem buys, energy boosts, or supplies from Stables.
100 of each at an early rough average of 5 tiles and logs per adventure equal 20 adventures to acquire.
20 adventures require 20 meals and 160 hours of time. That is about 7 days with out a Barracks.
20 meals require 100 Hot chocolates(HC), 600 milk, 40 sugar/200 sugar canes, 40 Flour/200 wheat, plus time.
Time per meal is 240 min per cottage/HC, 10 min per milk, 240 min per cane, and 120 min per wheat.

Assuming 7 cottages that is roughly 1 HC every 36 minutes or 5(enough for 1 meal) every 180 min(3hrs) at 5 energy
Assuming 2 cows that is roughly 1 milk per 5 minutes or 30 every 2.5 hrs at 30 energy
Assuming 14 plots of cane that is 1 cane per 17 minutes or 10 canes per 3 hours-ish at (assuming tablet) 8 energy
Assuming 7 plots of wheat that is 1 wheat per 17 minutes or 10 wheat per 3 hours-ish at (assuming tablet) 6 energy

2 x wheat to flour at 2 energy and 1 hr at kitchen 1
2 x cane to sugar at 2 energy and 0.5 hr at kitchen 2
1 x ginger at 1 energy and 0.5 hr at kitchen 2
1 x meal at 1 energy and 1 hr at kitchen 1 (yes i realize i should wait for ginger 2 to finish but this is easier.. call it left overs)

roughly kitchens full blast crank out a meal every 2-2.5 hours and cost 6 energy
roughly materials produce every 3 hours at 49 energy
after initial 3 hrs a meal can be made every 3 hours for 55 energy
55 energy(E) at 1E/3min = 165 min= 2.75 hours

so you can make all your meals for 20 runs in roughly 60-63 hours or 2.5 days
Assuming your double meal making and adventuring you have a rough dedicated time to complete of 160 hrs adventure + 3 hrs meal start + 3 hours farming start = 166 hours or about 7 days.

Sleep not included.

With Stables, wizard schools, and other adventure returns.... well just keep sending them on adventures that is what is important. :) the cooking is just hard in the beginning while you build up a cushion and don't have much energy to play with other things on the board.

Barrack adventure 16 hours does not give you any more then a 8 hour caslte,, you would think it would give you douple ,,, but it does not,. No way we can finsh this not unless the drops start to pick up ,,next level I read we have to do 30 each, really what are they thinking... No time for Christmas,,, and holiday stuff,,, and no sleep. We will all end up sick ,,,thinking they are forcing us to use gems ,,, but with hubby laid off can't afford. That and with Christmas coming ,,, thinking they are are to drive a lot of player away, I hope they see this .. And they make drops bigger or extent the time, I lost 5 hours just today on their clock,,, it change to 9 days 19 hour into the quest . they are not playing fair , sorry had to vent,,,

I'm confused, people complain about timed goals but also about goals that require random drops because they take too long. I focus totally on timed goals when they come out and I have always completed them, even when they set me way back on "random drop" goals. Maybe you should concentrate on timed goals if you don't like random drop goals and random drop goals if you don't like timed goals? Timed goals are a bonus, I have never seen one that was required to advance overall in the game. Or am I forgetting something?

Mine only counted when I collected AFTER that goal pops up. I built 8 collages for this quest so it counted when I collect them after this goal popped up. Same goes for the gingerbread - it counted when I made new ones and collected them from kitchens.

Funny how many people are complaining. I recall many times reading "teamlava, please make shorter adventures"....granted. "Teamlava, random drops aren't fun"....fixed by making it fair all the way around. Yes this is possible to finish without the second barracks, just more challenging. Look at how much time they have been sticking into this game. How many developers are in this coming up with more ideas for this storyline every week. Of course they want it to be tempting to spend gems. It's how this game ultimately thrives. You all need a reality check, I'm not at the bank every day asking for free handouts if money. And this, my friends, is my venting.

I dont know how the game is coded, but as long the "adventure" doesnt go away, you will have all the time in the world to finish the quest even though there is a timer, unless you want the coins and exp reward which I doubt its among anyone's interests

I am in a time zone that the quest began at 3.00am my time,so by the time I logged on I was already 6/7 hours behind.

Perhaps it may be worth considering that there are players world wide playing & the TL "clock" puts them at a distinct disadvantage.

After 3 adventures, I only have 12 tiles & 14 logs. At this rate I need 5 adventures to make 20 of each, if I'm lucky. that's 40 hours. Needing a total of 90 to upgrade all the way is gonna be near impossible to finish since my timer now says 8 days.
40 hours to get 20 of each means I need 180 hours to get all 90 if I'm lucky enough to at least get the amount I've been getting. 180 divided by 24 = 7.5 days . Yep,this will be nip & tuck considering the timer is always wrong and there is gonna be times when I can't collect exactly at 8 hrs. Like this evening being the company Christmas party.

The adventures produce random number of drops sometime 5 of one thing the next time 3. The first adventure upgrade took me 3 adventures to collect with a couple left over. This time the knights brought back 1 gem and 1 cocoa along with tiles and logs. So far it has been my experience that just when you think you won't make it the knights come through. Now I do play consistently; but I am not a big gem buyer.

I really wish eggs & not milk were required to make the cookies. I mean having milk as part of the feast totally makes sense, but milk IN the cookies?!? Clearly TL has no time for baking!! Or did they just want us to be overrun on eggs & short on milk?.... I guess I'll never know. *shrugs*

Totally agree with this. Almost all cookies need eggs but few call for milk. I'm seriously considering buying more cows at this point.

Players put just as much effort into making the provisions for the Barracks journey as the Castle journey. And it is not our fault that we cannot have 2 Castles! The barracks always takes twice as long for each quest as the castle.

Where it states that we need 5000 GOLD! There is quite a difference in Gold and Coins. Gold could mean Nuggets, Eggs, or Apples! The post should state specifically 5000 COINS.

The castle is the main source for adventures. The barricks is a purchased extra it would not make any sense to give advantage over the default. It would be like buying an election.

My knights just brought me back an entire holiday feast plus silver, logs and tiles. My knights are valiant and strong. Ha! If you treat your knights good then they will deliver the goods.

Looking at this thread, we are seeing drops of 3-7 logs, and 4-7 tiles. Smallest combined drop reported was 7 items, largest so far is 12 items. I just received 4 tiles, and 5 logs myself for the first quest.

Since we have seen 3 logs dropped, I'm going to assume we might also see 3 tiles dropped, so I'm figuring that the range on both will be 3-7, and the drop size would therefore range from 6-14. So a median drop on both would be 5, and total items dropped per quest is 10.

Using these totally unscientific numbers (based on small sample size) we are looking at 18 adventures to get enough of each to fully upgrade. Using the Castle alone, you would need 6 days of non-stop adventuring to get all of these items. Less if you have a Barracks.


Hopefully, this info will help encourage everyone that this is entirely doable in the time allotted.

6 quests down, 29 logs, 30 tiles. Average of 5 each per quest still holding. Two adventures going right now, 7 Holiday Feasts in inventory. Looks like I should only need to craft 3 more to finish the 18 quests calculated, but more likely I will need 19 to keep from coming up short.

Feeling good about this one.

I've done 5 adventures and now have 28 of each. One due to come back any minute and 8 feasts waiting. My drop rate has considerably picked up from the 5/3 I started with so managed to do the first upgrade in 4 adventures. Maybe I can afford a bit more sleep and only do 2 adventures a day... Do feel sorry for the rest of my kingdom, I barely have enough energy to collect from anything not related to Polaris.

One of my earlier drop today was 18 energies (no gems) + ? logs/tiles/silver ore/earth wisps. The extra energy boost was better than 1 gem drop at this stage of the game imo. Helps with collecting milk! I think I can stop making these holiday feasts when I have 20 of them stocked up and focus on going on adventures / getting other items that I'm currently neglecting... (Now I have 4 feasts in the queue, sent the knights 3 times so far, with 16 tiles and 11 logs... my drop rate for the logs and tiles are quite low as well @_@

Not gonna buy more cows since I don't want to waste energy raising them. Will just reserve my energy for collecting from cows since they can be collected every 10 minutes anyway.

I am mid second adventure... Not enough gems for barracks. Doubt i will finish on time. But having fun. I have no issues with TL. They give us this game for free. It is their right to try to earn here and there and my choice if i want to spend or not. I agree with some of the things written here, like time zone issues and shorter times than stated, and yet, this is a game and a free one at that.
So thank you TL. If I dont manage to finish on time, I assume there will be otherr ways of getting the drops needed for future quests, even if it will take me longer. And still, I am hopeful. For now I will not be speeding things up using gems. Towards the end I will see how far I am and decide nearer the time.

But the best part of all: I FINALLY GOT AN ALICORN HORN!! Thank you for the increased chance, I had 5 wings and thought I'd never get the horn. Happy Dance!!

Wow!! That's awesome!!! I'm still waiting for that & everything else to hatch my dragon egg, but good to know I might get it during this quest! And here I was impressed when my Polaris quest brought me back another holiday feast & extra energy.... Happy to hear of all the possibilities, even if I do have more eggs than I know what to do with!!! ;-)

Since the kingdom inn will drop earth wisps when completed it's probably a good idea to start stockpiling some for the next timed quest. I'm sure a lot of people are quite low from replenishing their wisp lantern supply from the recent expansions.

This last one I got a bit of silver ore and coal. Oh well, at least it is being helpful for some people.....maybe it will still for me! Just an observation about the time and resources it takes to complete this goal. I am averaging 4.5 tiles/logs per adventure. I need a total of 100 (20 for 1st, 30 for 2nd, 40 for 3rd upgrade) of each of those to complete the goal. I will need to complete 23 adventures to get all the tiles/logs I need for all the upgrades. Each adventure requires a total of 30 milk (20 to make 2 gingerbread, 10 for the feast), thus requring almost 700 (23 adventuresX30 milk) milk before this is done. And then there is that hot chocolate those knights need for this sugar binge adventure (5 per adventure), meaning I need over 200 hot chocolate. Is there no end to the amount of sweets those knights will consume at Christmas?? lol

This isn’t a problem for me. I am a long time player able to have 20 cows and 10 cottages to complete this adventure. I have a great stock pile of wood, dye, jewels, silver, fur etc. I love this particular adventure and am so grateful for it. I appreciate that TL keeps us excited with new things to do and creates a really beautiful game. I play other TL games and have noticed that this game seems to have fewer complaints on the forum than other games. I really appreciate that TL listens to our concerns on this forum and makes changes to improve the game (adding the red trillium so players can get red petals).

I am concerned about lower level players trying to complete this time limited goal. I recently started a kingdom on a new device. I know this game (and the strategies that work to complete necessary tasks) and I can get overwhelmed with the many many goals that new players are confronted with. I just reached level 15 and was given a “Holiday Invitation”. I know I cannot get 700 milk and 200 hot chocolate in my tiny lithe kingdom in a short time so I did not even start. I am hoping that not too many folks get frustrated with this one. Maybe TL can increase the number of logs/tiles received per adventure so smaller/newer kingdoms have a chance to complete this wonderful goal. An increase yield of logs/tiles won’t make any difference to a high level player to be able to complete this goal and have a Kingdom Inn. It will make all the difference in the world to a small, lower level kingdom.

I've made gingerbread cookies, the holiday feast, and gone on the Polaris Quest. Nothing has changed. I'm thinking I hit a bug. Can someone please verify and fix this so I can move on?

I had the same problem. Mine didnt even show that you could update so I thought I had to wait on the time to run out, after 2 times and still nothing I had to force close and the when I reopened it it showed that I could upgrade. Set me behind by two days on the quest, but fortunately the adventure quest is only 8 hours. Takes a lot of them so I hope I have enough time to complete. I'm currently on upgrade 4.

I was worried about this quest because i started a couple of days after everyone.
I dont know how, but somehow i managed to send my knights off to four adventures yesterday, plus one the day before. I've upgraded to level three and have one tile and one log for level four. I have five feasts ready and only collect from my cows, wheat, sugar and kitchen. Oh, and monsters of couse. The rest of my kingdom is in a lull.
I'm still not 100% sure about this quest, but reading the math here, it should require about 20 adventures. If i contine at 4 a day (doubtful) thats 3 more days, then i have pleanty of time to spare. Realistically, if i do 3 adventures a day, i will be cutting it close but still doable.
2 a day will mean i will have to speed up the last of the adventures.... I'm still missing 8 gems for the barracks, so i hope to keep up with this pace.
But in all fairness, TL gave enough time for this one imho.
As for lower level players..... I totally agree with what was written here. I remember struggling for wood and stone.

I have just collected from my adventure and my logs went down from 25 to 20 and tiles from 27 to 25. What is going on. Only on the 2nd upgrade where you need 30 of each, really fed up.

I couldn't do 4 in a day, not unless I wanted to use gems to speed it up. I just timed it right so that I could send first thing in the morning and collect during the afternoon, send another and collect last thing at night and send them off ready for the next morning collection. It is doable, but you just have to leave the rest of your kingdom alone and only do the feasts and quests. Really getting bored of the time limited quests, not only are they frustrating, but any future new players miss out completely, just like the valentines stuff.

I cheer my knights' return daily from their Quests through Barracks and Castle, and although they have brought riches from Polaris, they have not yet found the one item that will free my imprisoned scaly friend.

I'm a little skeptical about the burning ember report. I think only one person has reported it and they may have been mistaken (knights were actually returning from the desert sands adventure). Especially since it makes no sense for the burning ember to come from the cold north....... presumably Polaris is in the exact opposite direction from the desert.

The Alicorn parts make a lot of sense though, since those can drop from any adventure. Suddenly our chances are increased threefold! I'm hopeful again for my second alicorn :)

Yeah I'm still excited but i woke up this morning at 4:30 and couldn't go back to sleep so i sent my knights on the next polaris quest which in a couple of hours would have returned and then around 9:30 i went back and it never sent them. : ( I'm bummed i could have used that extra time. Nothing to be done now. Hoping for more good drops from this quest though.
