I downloaded the latest version of the farm story and exchanged some gifts with my neighbors...
but my problem is that I can't find inventory. Could u please tell me where I can see my inventory?

Tools and then Edit.
Look to your lower left corner.
Inventory is there.

I read that gifts appeared in the inventory, which is under tools. Where do I locate "tools"?

It's the large button on the right lower side of the main screen when you open the game. It says, "Tools" underneath it.

On your main home screen page, you have to press the left arrow buttons (tools button) to open the icons and then the edit button becomes visible. Press the edit button and the the inventory box will appear in the lower left corner.
